Believe me he'll know...anytime I try to fool him he's gives me that looks and asks" what's in this? or what did you do different?"
December dinners
almost had a microwave oatmeal lava mess.. what is with that???.. walked up and peeked just in time
Saved it to my recipe file, Victor. That becomes such a sticky mess, doesn't it, Allison.
That chick pea recipe does sound delicious......so does the different soups, which is what I'm making....chicken escarole.
MMMmmmm, chicken escarole soup. We add canellini beans also.
microwave oatmeal. that costco steel cut oatmeal is so darn good. just pop out the frozen portion and heat. I never thought I could get great oatmeal out of a microwave prep type.
I found out I shouldn't eat oats if I have a gluten intolerance...hmmmmm who knew?
Is it still okay to feel your oats???
Can still "feel" oats and wheat...just can't eat 'em....LOL
Oats wasn't on my list - the deal is that the conveyer belt/processing plant may have processed wheat right before. So the thing is to avoid the grains that might be contaminated. Were you told that there was a gluten component to oats??
Yep that's why...... the cross contamination
wow who knew???.. will have to try to the costco ones then.. thanks
well Victor's sauce was a hit.. Randy went back for 2nds!!!... I only had a 28 oz can of whole tomatoes .. but I used RR's cheat to use the potato masher.. worked great of course.. I ended up adding more crushed red & garlic .. guess the extra tomato was too much for the amount I added.. of course I didn't measure .. but it was really good.. love those quick sauce recipes .. makes me feel better about eating pasta if it's homemade sauce
That is why I wonder about Rice Checks being advertised as gluten free. Did the cereal follow the Wheaties?!! I think a certain amount of contamination is 'allowed' and really expensive to have dedicated factory
They might have just a dedicated line
They still recommend only a limited amount of oats even if you know they are gluten free, I try to limit all grains anyway, I feel SOOOOOOO much better
yes and the restaurants more and more offer gluten free items.
pot roast in the crockpot.
It's January, but it feels like December so I guess we can include this here.
Tonight the specialty de la maison was Hungarian Porkolt (what Americans mistakenly call goulash). I used the recipe from Culinspiration (omitting the juniper berries), served it over Amish noodles and DW gave it 5 stars (an unusual move for her) ! Accompanied with veggie, applesauce and Chianti Riserva.
yum!
Love pot roast....sounds like I would love the Hungarian dish as well......nice comfort food! I'm making chicken soup & ham & scalloped potatoes for my friend who is having surgery tomorrow.....
Pot roast is my fav
Love "goulash" or whatever they choose to call it
Haven't had scalloped potatoes in years
New recipe lemony garlic chicken and broccoli....hubby actually liked it and he hates chicken
Roasted chicken breast with brussel sprouts, garlic green beans and biscuits.
Jen how did you do the lemony chicken?
1 large lemon
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 pounds chicken parts
1 medium onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
2 packets Swanson® Flavor Boost™ Concentrated Chicken Broth
3 cups fresh broccoli florets
Directions
1.Grate 1 tablespoon zest and squeeze 1/4 cup juice from the lemon.
2.Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until well browned on all sides. Remove the chicken from the skillet. Pour off any fat. ( I forgot to pour off the fat....LOL)
3.Reduce the heat to medium. Heat the remaining oil in the skillet. Add the onion and garlic and cook and stir for 2 minutes. Stir in the concentrated broth and lemon juice. Return the chicken to the skillet. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through. (added a little bit of water here)
4.Stir the broccoli and lemon zest in the skillet. Cover and cook until the broccoli is tender-crisp.
Hubby had it over angel hair
I didn't have a lemon so I used lemon juice and used the zest of an orange, also the packet of broth I used was the brand name "Golden"
Looks yum!
Will try that. Love lemon.
Pork tonight and probably onions, apples and sweet potatoes together. We like it with some balsamic vinegar mixed in.
oh and I used less chicken maybe only 1 1/2lb you must like lemon flavor it's very lemony
Does sound yummy....pizza tonight....
Sounds good Jen, thanks! I love lemon.
Out most of the day, just salad here and frozen eggplant parm dinner for me and tuna samiches for hubby.
Chicken pot pie, from scratch. :)
hot dogs on the grill, pumpkin pie for dessert
Flounder breaded and fried, rice, slaw, ( it was very white should have made peas or beets)
LOL, on the white dinner. Sometimes I look at the plate and think I need to color it up some more.
THE BEST NAME ! I don't know a single Max, and I think it is a name that takes a guy from start to finish. congrats!
My SIL just chose Max to name her new baby too. Is it Maxwell?
Oh, he's beautiful...Max is a great name....sturdy. Leftover pizza here.....
