Good morning, dragging a bit this morning. Having some tea and will catch up!
Waving hello Debbie..got your wood painted black lol
Next break from my candle holders I'm going to post the beginning instructions for the workshop
Suse if you are able to post photo of your goodies from Thea it would be appreciated..either that or perhaps Thea took a photo and could post..
Dianne ???? hope everything is ok with you both..(Quill-a gentle pat on the back from me)
My box arrived from Laura!!! I will have pictures this afternoon but --Guess what????? I got a rag quilt too!!!!!! So now when I have my gall bladder out, I will have something wonderful to wrap up in and be toasty warm!!! Can't wait to show you the quilt and the other goodies that were with it. One is an amzing surprise that I am sure Laura made too!!!! That should keep you all curious.
Curious indeed...oh happy days..isn't it amazing just how much we've come to know each other...
I'm just as excited as you to see the lovelies..
Wow, a great treasure! I can't wait to see the pictures.
I made banana walnut muffins trying to boost my mood....I have only managed to increase my waist size!!
Betty, soon as "the child" goes to work...going to start my crafts.
Good for you Debbie (not the weight part but the crafting part) lol
Mouth watering here..you've just reminded me instead of playing with crafts here I should be making a grocery list if I want to spend Saturday baking...
ragging quilt blocks back and forth with the candle holders..shaking my head big time..THANK the Lord I have no office work to do otherwise how would I get all my crafts done
hmm a quilt angel..oooh can't wait
Laura you have made me soooooooo happy. And I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Now I need to hide the quilt from the granddaughters. You really out-did yourself and again, I
thank you.
Lordy, lordy I'm overwhelmed by what you received..if you are like me Barb,at Christmas family/friends shy away from giving me sewing/crafts and yet I sooo appreciate something made just for me..I'm sure it will be a favorite ..now have to go look closer to see how that cup is done..bet you are smilling from ear to ear Barb..watch that Norm doesn't put a mark on it saying it's his..
Laura, wow and double wow, no wonder you have been busy!!!
Did your hubby ever finish the door bench, care to share?
Hi all - I'm home sick today. Figured now that we have Bob working I can take a sick day. woke up at usual time, but just didn't feel well. Went back to bed at 9am, and phone woke me at 2pm! guess I needed it.
it was bob calling - "couldn't you go to the bank - void cheque has your name and co won't pay me without a letter from bank saying I'm on the account too". siiiiiiiiigh. They won't email the form for privacy sake (gov't ruling).
I'm going to have some soup and go.......
Barb, that is fabulous quilt! Are all the squares appliqued? Love that cup, and picture frame and towels! Nice job Laura! I think Barb will be nice and warm for a long time!
I believe the squares are all cut from something like a panel and then sewn together however you want. Not appliqued. I just love it.....
Dear laura, Where did you find the pattern for the cup???? That is just so clever.
Home sick today (bronchitis) but wanted to say HI
Off to the bank to get proof that Bob is on our account so he can get paid....... cya later.
OH, did I tell you that Bob got a job? Applied Monday, and started Tuesday YAAAAAAy
ohhhh ahhhh loverly goodies ^_^ yes where did you find that cup pattern???
hubs had dr appt today, and they are scheduling surgery for Jan. going to fuse some more discs. hopefully will take away some of his pain.
WOW! She is beautiful!
Great job Thea. You did good girl!!!!
Now I have a wooden Christmas tree and a cardinal tree ornament that were both hand crafted from German artists at a German Christmas Bazar in Ottawa along with some delicious maple syrup and some wonderful homemade turtle candies. Here's a picture of the entire package of treats. Sorry, there's not many candies left!! LOL
Thank you so very much Thea! I love everything you sent me! .
Haven't seen you today Dianne. Hope you and Santa Warren are snug and warm. The temps here are starting to dip after being in the fifties for the last three or four days. Maybe now it will start to feel like winter..
Suse, those are all adorable!
Hello To All !
Suse - Thea's Angel is gorgeous ! Love those goodies ! Are you reading anything good lately?
Susan - FEEL Better Soon dear ! Hope you were able to get Hubs taken care of and get back home and snuggle up.
Barb... That Rag Quilt from Laura is SO Gorgeous ! Okay - ya'll know I did not inherit the Craft Gene... so question... how do you put the rag quilt together ? it looks fuzzy between the squares... so it's not sewn together like Grandmas, but another way? Forgive me if I've asked this before.
Love that Sewing Cup ! Is that to hold sewing items ?
Thunder... Thanks for the explanation on Suzy Q's she must be related to Little Debbie ! LOL... Prayers for your Hubs Dr. visit... hope he gets a good report. I'm crossing my fingers that soldier is planning to surprise you with a visit ((HUGS))
Wow Betty - your Mom is only allergic to Your cats ! Hoping your Christmas will be brighter though the way it's planned... you can visit her and always leave if it gets too stressful.
I found this one for DSD... what do you Professionals think? She sews more than I do (which is never)...and she has taken a sewing class. But I foresee her using it to fix outfits and perhaps for Theater... fixing costumes ... not really making them from scratch but fastening items together.

Are there other items she will need? She likes Red... but I wish the container were bigger.....
Laura - You did good gal ! Barbs items are fabulous !
((HUGS))
Mary
Hi Mary! You have been busy! Did you recoup from the weekend?
Suse, I love the angel wall hanging/quilt. That is just beautiful and the hanger fits perfect! Such wonderful gifts from the heart for sure to treasure forever. I would have dug into the sweets also! lol
Tomorrow evening was my planned "escape" to go to PT water therapy....and then DH and I go shopping for my "swap" Christmas gift....now we are expecting a snow storm!!! GRRRR! DH says no problem....but good heavens, I can barely walk on dry even ground. Will take it slow...and see and pray the weather liars are wrong!
Susan, feel better. I know several fighting bronchitus. NOT fun.
I hope you were able to get your errands done.
How did all the Dr. Appointments everyone had today go? Betty....wasn't your appointment this week???
Dianne, where are you? How are you and Warren & my dear Quill.
I have hit a bit of a wall....just very tired and sore. Think the PT will help...so bear with me.
Debbie
Mary, that is a great sewing case. I think it has just about everything!
A rag quilt is sewn with two layers of fabric and batting in the middle, and all three pieces are sewn together with all the seams facing towards the front. Some people omit the batting. Sewn with a big 1/2 inch seam, then you clip the seams every 1/4 inch or so. The batting if used is cut 1 inch smaller than the fabric blocks. When you wash it, the clipped seams fray, making it look ruffled. It can be made from flannel or cotton fabric, I have even seen them made of denim.
Here are a few links that will show you how to make them!
