Any special plans for Thanksgiving? Very small for us this year. Probably just my MIL and the bird. Family will be away.
In many ways I like T-day most. Day for family and uniquely American.

Hi, Harper. Glad to see you.
Tday at son's around the corner. His 5 plus his in-laws and us. Then on Saturday we'll have extended family. Potential for 33 or even a few more. Of that number 15 are 15 yr old or younger.(mostly younger). We are praying for a dry, sunny day. :). Please pray also.
Sorry I missed the fun!
Hi! Harper
Busy weekend, kids had of Thurs and Fri so went down to Baltimore but son wanted to be back for his friend's b-day party Friday night, so only spent the day at the aquarium and came home. Then Sat was son's 9th b-day so made some brownies for the kids at church to celebrate then had the family party today and will be having a kids laser tag party on the 27th. Since he wanted to have his friends I needed to find something away from home.
I also volunteered to head up the Christmas brunch at church so I've been planning that, had to visit the hall we wanted to rent for it(we currently don't have our own facility)
Hubby gets all crazy when there's 12 people over for dinner. It will be us, my sil and 2 friends for Tday
my family is strange this year.. everyone is staying home.. so we will have Michele, Randy's Step Dad, and Barb next door.. will be a quiet one for sure
hi harper
Stay with us now.
Going to DH's sisters house for our turkey day. I'm looking forward to it since I'll be cooking the big Christmas dinner. Can't wait. LOVE big holiday dinners so I can eat too much and be miserable the rest of the day. The go back the next day for leftovers and doing it all again.
Thanksgiving at home with duckling. DH doesn't like turkey & he does the cooking. We would be eating turkey forever.
Thanks to Allison, we have been loving the brined turkey!
Hey, Harper, miss you, & your drawings! Post some....Thanksgiving will be small....my Mom, sister, cousin & his wife.....if the weather is nice in Rochester, my brother & SIL will go there, otherwise they'll be with me....I'm praying for bad weather....my brother should not be driving at all, much less 6 hours up there.....
Smoking our turkey again this year
Eating ours. ^_^
I've been brining my turkey since I started making Thanksgiving dinner. Mmm.
Will be 4 here, and eating a little later than usual. David is having an early (light) dinner at Lindesy's parents, then real dinner here, his words.
Uh oh - don't let Lindsey hear that!
She agrees!
Hee hee!!
Jen you can brine the smoked turkey too!!... of course ours will be deep fried .. in this house.. there is no other way!!!
my neighbor (bigger guy) was beside himself having the fried turkey for the first time.. I barely got in the door and he already broke open the tray of food I brought.. he kept asking how we got bacon around the turkey... I said there is no bacon on there.. that's the brine & crispy turkey skin... and giggled of course.. and since my sister isn't coming this year.. I can put garlic in the brine!!!... nice!!!
we did it once but didn't like it, used Alton Brown's recipe for the brine
gallon of water... cup of brown sugar... cup of kosher salt.. oranges & lemons cut up.. thyme, rosemary, sage... any herbs you like.. I had fresh parsley I even through in there.. it's all good

I want this guy to break into my house.

If it was the flavor you don't like you could always just do salt, makes it tender and juicy and tastes like turkey.
he wouldn't even have to break in here.. lots to do outside!!
we always brine our turkey
My cousin just bakes it for me, & I am really thankful!
As I hadn't planned ahead I did a Google search for a heritage turkey - I could order one shipped to me and an 8-10 pounder would be $72 PLUS $45 shipping. Usually I just cook a breast for the two of us - and the cats, of course.
WOW that's a lot of $ for a turkey!!!!!!!!!!!
I just remembered that my neighbor is staying with his brother so I can use his refrigerator! Now I can get a bargain turkey! I love my neighbors!
Yikes....I guess they want to keep their heirloom turkeys alive......
My SIL is deep frying our turkey. She has done that the last several years. It is MMM-mmm GOOD. I like to bake a small one too because I like the dressing cooked in the bird. Don't know if that would work on a deep fry.
I don't even know what to say about this.

Couldn't verify, blah...in other words "I made so much I don't want to tell you"
Typical of them all....I've had it with the politicians......
A five year-old patient of my wife passed away. Little girl with CP. Don't know how my wife can do it. I could not.
Oh that is so hard, so sorry.
