Faye, ((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) So sorry to hear the news of everyone having cancer! Praying you get a good report form the Dr.
She's about to...6... Fall is here!
(((((Faye))) My dear friend, we are all here for you, always, through joy and sadness. Please give Ray and his family my deepest sympathies. We love you, Lady.
okay ya all, after 3 inches of rain in two days, it is now officially snowing ...
OMG! Snowing in KS??? Hope you have a shovel, and windshield scraper? Drive careful on those roads please?
bright susnshine out this am, no snow stuck on the ground, thank goodness. from here it looks like a typical summer morning, outside from inside anyway.. LOL
So sorry to hear ... I wish you could go with your sisters instead! You need their support more than you need to be giving support at this time. My mother sends dad to those things on his own.. she refuses to attend. I was shocked that she went with us a few weeks ago to the funeral home but I think it was because it was dads best friend and dad really needed the support. I went with dad to the burial,. mom absolutely refused. If she has her way.. she will be absent from her own funeral!
SNOW!!! ...we just got a little rain here. Temps have been in the mid 30's a few nights but mostly a bit higher. I still have my one growing brug on the patio. I cover it at night and it is doing well. Everything else is in the garage. I have not moved them into the atrium bacause I don't trust my cat! She is getting bad about not using her litterbox and I don't know what she will do with the plants. They may be better off in the garage with a heater or in the potting shed. I have not decided yet.
I had snow this morning it really surprised me.... ;) That is enough for the year.....
Sunshine today now which is great batteries are getting low.
Tammie I don't do furnerals either. The last one I did was 1968. You don't even want my opinion on them.
Tammie, we have three cats, but only one is allowed to come inside during the Winter. The other two stay in our garage where hubby builds a fire in the wood stove out there for them to stay warm. I have noticed 'disturbed' pots on our back deck where the cats have done their business and we won't even go into how they love to bring me plant tags...lol For the plants you'd like to bring into your atrium, what about adding some kind of mulch in the top of the pots, like a layer of bark, rocks or pebbles?
I dread the day my MIL dies and we have to make the necessary arrangements for her burial. I went through that with both my Mom and Dad and both times were among the worst days of my life. My MIL will turn 80 during Christmas week and knock on wood she is still able to live alone, is in good health as far as we know, but she had to use a walker when she goes out and a cane inside her home. Hubby and I will both be cremated and our ashes will be scattered at our favorite vacation destination, a beach on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
How are the new strays getting along with your other dogs, happ? Any luck finding their owner yet?
Fruity my new babies and doing really good with my older babies…LOL, and Surprise no one will claim these little guys, so I guess they are mine. Off to the vet they are going on Saturday…ughhh! I will take pics of the guys this weekend, dark when I leave and dark when I get home, and since they are mostly black, they don't show up real well...rofl.
The cat is not happy at all about them, but they are learning to keep their distance.
Tammy, speaking of the cat I put steel screen (not fiberglass screen) on top of the soil on all of the plants in the solar room, that keeps the cat where the cat is suppose to be. If it is a brug in tree form I make what looks like a collar, make a circle the size of the inside of the pot, then cut thru the side and cut out the middle big enough for the trunk to come thru. The plants like the ee’s, I just cut sections and lay them around, if I notice a plant is growing under them I just cut out that section or move the screen around. It keeps Hairy the cat out of alot of trouble and is a cheap fix.
I actually moved Lucys litter box over by the window she uses to enter the atrium so she actually has to step down into it when she goes into the atrium and she STILL prefers at times to go on the floor! Drives me nuts. I got her a very large under the bed box some time ago to give her extra space to make her more comfortable when I saw her standing on the sides of her smaller box when using it. I don't know what else to do. I am so tired of cleaning up messes... at least they are on a concrete floor of the atrium and not in the house... !!!
I Love all my cats.. none of them live in this house.. LOL
My cat, Max, is laying on his bed on my desk and he'll follow me to bed shortly. He weighs about 10 # but is a very gentle cat and isn't easily startled. I say that, but the first time he leaps and breaks something or digs in a pot I neglected to protect, he's gonna be banned to the garage with his Mom and Sis.
When impending freeze warnings were issued last night, I brought in a Mandevilla, a Cactus, and an Agave. Pffft...the weathermen got it wrong again. But better safe than sorry. Those were the last plants I needed to bring in anyway.
I have room on my light stand to start a few seeds. First in line are lettuce that we can harvest and enjoy in salads over the Winter. Gotta say though, Debra, I'm already itching to start a few Morning Glory seeds and who knows what else.
I am starting seeds right after thanksgiving.. love the blooms during winter, and if you plant the morning glorys, plant them a little deeper so they can toughen up as they come up. I am going to try some asago style planting this year.
I re-did the basement Gardens ( Again) and freshened up some soil in the pots and found a tag for the long cream , coral pendulas brug up there.. someone go tell Gorden it is Axel Rose X Ludgers Windsong he sent me the seed about three years ago and this is first time to bloom, the white knight is not blooming but StarDancer x Pod 6 is..

She is beautiful! Does she change color once she opens?
Still have one brug on my patio that is growing. The weather has been staying just above freezing on our coldest nights. I cover her on those nights. .... and my patio is VERY protected so it does not get as cold there. I will move her in when the weather gets cooler. I am giving this brug every chance to make up for the lost summer growing season.
Thank you everyone for sharing all your success this year. I have really enjoyed seeing your beautiful plants. I sure hope I have some success next year. I will have to buy a lot next year if our weather changes and gives up some hope of actually growing something.
I am not done mailing out brugs to people//// just found a tub of root balls I had forgotten i CUT UP THREE WEEKS AGO..dang it.
still have LK, and a couple others to gather stuff up for, and then a swap and then I will be seeing what is left over for adoption..
That Stardancer x pod 6 reminds me of Monster White, only the bloom isn't as big... the b suavleons white is not as frilly on the bottom, and is smaller than SD x Pod 6, but the bloom sure lasts a long time.. I love white blooms.. but I was really hoping for the split petal of momma stardancer.. have u looked that one up? OMG!
debra the cutting i got from you they are still in water but nothing happing except leaves falling off should i strip the leaves & add anything to the water ??? oh i hope i don't kill them.
sorry dang cat jumped on my putor anyway i just wanted to know if maybe i should maybe plant just in soil or do they need to root in water.
well got to get a few things going have to take daddy in for his doc apt today he don't want to go . so you all have a great day .
susie
Susie, they will root in water or soil, but they will develop a better root system in soil. If you keep them in water, change it every few days so it does not get skunky on you. Some add a little peroxide to the water, and some place them in an old fish tank with a little water, and let the pump keep it fresh.
ty LK I have changed water every other day since i took them out of the box . so will try the soil see if they will do better.
Keep in mind, they will lose the leaves, this is normal when you cut them back. It will give more for the stem to grow. Once they root, they will start to put out more leaves.
Hello ladies:
I am trying to figure out what I am going to do with myself once I am stuck in the house because of wet/wind/cold. :/
Hope you don't mind me landing here for a bit. Looks like a familiar crowd, and I will need some propping up when I can't even bring myself to start the pot of coffee. Ug.
A.
welcome to our little abode AManda! Awww Joyce, those are two beautiful pups.. how lucky you are! Which brugs are blooming for ya?
Susie, I would rather you have them in a water bottle planter on a window ledge instead of a big ole pot ( the cuttings) and make sure the potting medium is fast draining.. cut the top of a water bottle, snip a few parts of the bottom off, use some sand, perlitght or vermiculite and a small amount of soil mixed up with cinnamon to sink them in.. that works best for me, and the dryer u leave them the better they are, and when you do water them, make sure it drains real fast. The really long big fat sticks I sink into a bubbler tub...
Welcome Amanda! Your more than welcome to land here. What do you have blooming?
Love those puppies Joyce! They are so cute!
Debra, what does the cinnamon do?
morning! LK, Cinnamon helps with keeping fungus and stuff away it is in all my pots and I also use it to dip cuttings in and bulbs that may have scarred. I learned this from Lari Ann here on DG.. infact, she just had an article published n here a few weeks ago about it.
makes for smelling good too. ( who likes the smell of dirt anyway? )
This is my Cape Honeysuckle, it grows everywhere south but not here, it is now blooming downstairs.
thanks debra they are up in the south window have to go to town today so will pick up a bag of .99 cent sand :) to mix into the rest i have to try it your way :) ty for sharing with me .
welcome amanda this is a great place to bring your hot cup of coffee, hot coco, hot tea , or hot totty, & read about whats going on with friends :)

Hi Amanda! Come curl up and chat awhile, can't even force yourself into making coffee? Sounds like me when I get home at night, I am just a giant toad....I am so not looking forward to winter. Hopefully we will all have mild winters, ours was way deep in snow and bitter cold last year. My alarm goes off in the morning but my feet don't hit the ground until the furance cuts on...
I will deliver the pup or pups...LOL You know deejay I hope I am not adopting anymore dogs. Years ago we had 6 dogs then at one point ended up with 0 dogs, gosh never thought I would be back up to 6 again..... couldn't let them strave out in the fields tho.
We have a good craft show on Friday and a gooder one on Saturday!
My Friday shopping after Thanksgiving is getting all messed up by the stores starting on Thursday night at 10 and 11. Who can work all day on Wednesday, cook dinner for Thursday and then start shopping Thursday night into Friday.....I don't require alot of sleep but geehzz! I know lots of people don't like the Friday shopping after Thanksgiving but I love being out in the crowds. My friends and I have traditions going back years doing this.....isn't that I buy alot.

Love those puppies there Happ! They look so sweet. You are kind to take them on.
Glad you found us here Amanda. I kind of lurk which is really all I'm good for these days. :0)
has anyone heard from Faye? I hope she is okay with all she had going on.. I am worried about the test results..
I have not heard from her. Hope she post soon?
LOL deejay, I do shop online and I actually shop all year, but still like to go out that day after Thanksgiving. Don't know why. If you have the guts to wait until right before Christmas you can get some great deals, but you have to have nerves of steel.... ;)
Sun shine but dang it is miserable cold! Suppose to warm to 50 tho.
Need to go buy straw, for the winter storage and the dogs.
Since it is dark coming and going I can't get good photos of the brugs in bloom, the flash washes everything out and if I turn it off the pictures are blurry.
Faye is fine. The CT scan didn't show anything. I will be seeing her tomorrow so I'll get the full story. They are already on their way so none of us will be checking in this weekend.
Thanks for the update on Faye! When you see her, give her hugs from us please? Tell her were all sending lots of thoughts and prayers!
So glad to hear that about Faye, good deal!
Good to hear Faye got good news.
Temp here so far today is 61. I have the back sliding door open for the dogs, sun is shining and they are running in and out. I think they have carried about 10 stuffed animals out so far! Every time I look up someone is digging in the toy box looking for another toy... so fun to watch. They are having a great day and they sure will sleep well tonight. I love watching them when they are entertaining themselves.
We had a wonderful early Thanksgiving potluck feast and the views from the Cabin were breathtaking. If we'd been there a month ago, the leaves would have been at their peak. Now the trees are pretty bare. We were a bunch of chatty chicks, sharing lots of food, and hugs, and only wished every one of you could have been there to celebrate with us. This is one of the pics I snapped at Sunset last night.
