98 your Dad is doing great. Hope everything goes well for him. My Aunt of 80 just had that done and came thru with flying colors.

I always figured my garden room will become a home, probably for me when I get old and people move in with me. Course we are going to have to add on...LOL, cause the flowers aren't going out and right now you can barely walk in there. I was doing pretty good until a box from a swap arrived, LOL....

I didn't know anyone could make a new room, learn something new everyday even if you don't want to.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Well I am starting to fight spider mites on the coffee cup elephant ear, think I will cut off all the leaves and see what happens, it is way to early to start this nonsense......sure wish there was a systemic that worked well, I don't like spraying mist like stuff...... Course I didn't know a thing about spider mites until I found brugs.....

Thank you Debra! My Brug Cuttings arrived yesterday and I immediately got them into water to root. They are in my kitchen window at the moment.. need to move them to my dining room window... don't know why I did not put them there to begin with! Have the pots for them ready in the atrium once they start to root. I told mom I will grow them as big as I can so we can plant them in her garden in the spring. She is excited that we will have some brugs again.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Oh I love your mug coaster, how darn cute is that. Susie...rofl.

Should of seen the lady at the po....she said are you mailing rocks? Said yeah but only 1 rock...rofl. Thank goodness for flat rate....;) I know you new home has limited space but I thought at least you would think of me when you saw it....hey I think Daddy had a good idea... ;) I may have to try that, I know in the old days they heated up rocks to warm the bed. I don't take the cold as well any more. Well don't fall asleep walking home tonight...hehehe!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Pretty nice day today, I am still repotting and getting pots ready to winter over, I promise myself next year no new plants until I get these in the ground, tagged and done! Every year I do this. I need to buy a dump truck of soil so I can make some raised beds I have all winter to get some kind of plan done. I did stick a few things in the ground altho it is like concrete, only a few places I can even get the shovel in the soil. I don't know how long it has been since we have had rain, I shouldn't whine because at least it is cool and not like poor Texas that was so hot and dry.

I found another spot where a voile had eaten his way thru some spuria iris....dag nab it. Think the cat or dogs must of gotten some of them, cause I don't see nearly the damage. I can tell you this the plants planted around the maple tree because of the roots of the tree seem to be safe, the voiles are going for the soft soil...they ain't no dummies. I need to winter over some lilies and I know I can't do what I did last year because the voiles ate all of them right thru the plastic pot. Guess I am going to find some wire and make a big box to keep the voiles out.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

What a nice book Susie, sounds really interesting and something great to read this winter when we can't go out.
Someone forgot to tell the basset hound we are on daylight savings time....geehz.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Good Morning everyone.. okay,,, how come I am awake? :P:

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I don't know but I hadn't planned on being up this early, sure is dark outside.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

yeal, i thought we would get daylight sooner?

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

That is what I thought.....I don't know what time the sun came up before because I am always go to work in the dark....and don't notice when it gets light.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! You all set your clocks back one hour, so if you are getting up at 6am today, it used to be 7am...

Debra, did you have any damage from the earthquake? GEESH, what is going on with all these quakes! Never used to hear of them other than California?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

we did n't get any damage, who knows if the foundation got tweaked another ten degrees cockied, but we are used to it being cracked anyway.. looking at a crack right now off the lower north corner window I am in front of,, we need to fill and paint LOL
and here I was just bragging about how we are so safe and lucky being in the middle of the united states away from hurricanes and earthquakes ..

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Nothing can replace a good old-fashioned book. Yeah, we have the internet to look things up, but there's nothing as comforting as holding a real book, especially an old one, and turning the pages in anticipation, no matter what time of day or night it is. If we ever finish renovating this old house, the first thing I'm going to unpack are my bins of glass and my books! My MIL's den on one side is wall-to-wall bookcases filled with books she's collected over the years about homeopathic remedies, herbs, cookbooks, and a lot of older gardening books. She's promised to Will them to me since my SIL has no interest in them.

Who knew there could be another kind of threat to the mid-West besides tornadoes? I'm just glad you're OK, Debra.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

thanks fruity, and I used to read a book every nite, until the tri focols came to my face 12 years ago.. now I can't read a book..

I broke my third toe today, and it hurts..
Paula got up to go to the bathroom last night just as the quake shuddered and her equilibrium went crazy and she fell and hit her knee n the door sill.. she is okay just a bruise.. her Hubby is in seattle for a year, her and her dog , Angel are home all alone, and she doesn't drive.. my kids and I are taking turns
helping her out. I know she misses Pauline like crazy right now. I know I do..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Debra, sorry about your toe! That hurts like the dickens, and there is not much the Doc's can do about it! Tape it to the toe next to it for a bit of support. Sorry to hear about Paula too. Hope her hubby comes home soon.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

morning.. thanks LK, I am fine, so is she.. I am just glad I don't have the damager the family has that lives in OKlahoma. we just got the shakes is all.

I hope Patti is okay down there..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Me too! Patti, check in if you can please?

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Durn, Debra. Take it easy on your toe.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I know Miss Crit is ok, she posted on another thread. I didn't feel a thing but maybe cause I am a good 50 miles north of KC. I know people south of KC felt it....yeah we need something else besides tornado's that you can't plan on. Only good thing about a hurricane is you have warnings, course the tornados before and after would be the pits also.

I work in a really old brick building with huge beams, would hate to be around if it comes down....heavens.

It is pitch black out there, good grief. I am stuck at work waiting on a repair guy....another good grief.... ;) Been rainy all day which is good but the darkness is something else.

Oh yeah did I tell you all we had 2 puppies wander up to my house yesterday....another bigger good grief! I hope they belong to the neighbor cause I don't need 6 dogs again.... ;) They are cuties, males, probably a lab german sheperd mix, they already know sit, and of course NO and they are full of energy and just so darn happy...rofl.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Pictures Miss Happ. You know I love critter pictures. :0)

susie

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

what? No pecan Pie? we gotta fix that...
i wanna see some doggies, too Joyce..

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Someone was a sweetie to Suzie, can't beat that. Those tomatoe seeds are too funny. I probably have some seeds that old...rofl.

I was gonna take pics of the pups but worked til 7 didn't get home until 8, the pups won't use the dog house and were cold and wet curled up on my covered porch on the lounge chair, so I spent a good hour in the cold wind making them a "tent" dog house using the porch furniture turned on it's side covered with sheets, then put the lounge chair cushion on the porch to lay on in their tent. They were happy campers. The winds were awful with rain, and lightening (even tho it was cold), I got up twice to check on them and make sure their tent was still standing...ugggghhh. Then spent another hour this morning redoing the tent and making sure everyone was dry. So I am exhausted today. I don't need two dogs but they are so darn cute. Boy they ran for the tent when they heard the coyotes this morning...rofl. I don't know how they survived as long as they did in the field, I am guessing they went to the farm north of me and stayed in the open tractor barn, but now all the corn is down and they could of been coyote food for sure. Looks like I need to get the check book ready because I see a vet bill in my immediate future.

Crit hope you are escaping all of this mess, we don't have earthquake insurance and in fact I don't think they sell it here anymore. I saw where one guys chimmney came crashing thru his roof!
Oklahoma's new ad campaign! Need some excitement "Move to Oklahoma", were things are always rocking and a rolling.... ;)

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Hello dear friends. Debra I'm so sorry your toe has caused you so much pain, do hope it heals soon.
There is so much I want to say, but don't know exactly how! I know that sounds strange, it's that so much is happening here. We leave early tomorrow morning going to Indiana. Ray's Sister-In Law died yesterday. Tomorrow morning I was supposed to go to Myrtle Beach with my 3 Sisters . And at this time, I'm waiting for a CT Scan report that I'm terrified of getting. The Scan was on my neck to see if I have throat cancer. I'm so afraid! Have lost 1 Sister, 1 brother to cancer. My baby sister has cancer and my Brother starts cancer treatment next week.
Love & Hugs
Faye
