Many flocks of newly arrived Canadian Geese. I love to see them, there are a number of these geese that stay here year round. But Fall and Winter the number multiplies ten folds.

Wonderful pics Lily!

Thanks for starting the new thread!

Thanks Pelle,

Here could easily be my pic. of the day! An immature Cooper Hawk, maybe? I was wondering whatever happened to all my birds at the feeders. Or lack there of. And I found this one landed on the rails below the feeder.

Birds know the ruffians before you do. I've never seen a sapsucker, but have seen their lines of holes.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Oh that last shot is great...hawk envy here!!

Margaret...Congrats on the new bird that was on the last thread!

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

Great shots folks. I love seeing photos of Hawks, but do not like seeing them in my back yard.

Margaret, love the new bird and the Ospreys getting ready for a bath. Neat.

Norman, OK

Nice start, lily. Congrats on the sapsucker. They can be pests on young trees.

An immature Ring-billed Gull in flight. Taken on Lake Lawtonka in SW OK.

This is not a great pic, light was poor and at a distance. I mainly took it so I could id this bird. Looks like an immature Red-headed Woodpecker. Also in the Wichita Mountains.

Nice start Lily! You outdid yourself!

Red, wish I could get that nice a shot of any bird but especially a red-headed woodpecker! Lovely shots.

Been trying to get a good pic of the Nashville and Orange-crowned Warblers that are still around. Haven't succeeded yet, but here's a shot of the Orange-crowned anyway.

The Nashville. They always look away at the worst time!

Great photos in the last thread everyone!

Lily, thanks for starting the new thread. You sure have a great variety of birds. I've had a hawk here too, but luckily it hasn't stayed around long.

Burd, I noticed you posted a great photo of the Rusty Blackbird in the last thread. Four days ago one arrived here at my home!! It turned out that it's the "first ever" to be recorded in our county, considered a rare sighting in our state! We've had people in and out every day to see and photograph it ever since and now more people are scheduled for the week! My photos are being submitted to the rarity committee on eBird. This certainly has been an experience!

Also, if any of you participated in the Christmas Bird Count this past December, check out my photo of a Nuttall's woodpecker in the magazine they recently sent you.

Here's my visitor, a female Rusty Blackbird.

Sorry, we posted at the same time Elphaba-cute warblers!

I think this crow is saying thanks for the peanuts or telling the others that food is in the box.

One of my scrub jays was looking for ticks on this young deer outside our garden again. This is the fourth time I've caught the birds doing this.

Wow Duc, just checked out your photo in the Christmas Bird Count. It's even gorgeous in black and white and almost a full page -- very cool!

Nine ones Nanny!

Duc, That photo of the Scrub Jay on the deer is so cute!

PERTH, Australia

Great start to the thread, Lily_love. Nice shots of the hawks.

Duc, that's fantastic you've got a first-ever in your county bird and good of you to let the fanatics in. Nice shots.

Cute Hairy, nanny.

I was away for a few days at a large fishing town north of Perth. Ospreys were everywhere. I didn't see any on natural platforms. There was one family, with fledged young, on an artificial platform like those seen the the US, but most of the ones I saw were old craypots that had been installed at the top of concrete pillars. This one was only a few hundred metres from the centre of town. It didn't have a nest constructed within it, but this bird had clearly staked it out as its own. There was another on the other side of town with a resident osprey, but no nest. The ospreys clearly like these craypots, but they are much, much smaller than the usual artificial platforms and I don't know how any osprey could manage to successfully rear multiple chicks in them.

Finally, another new one for me. Taken at my brother's place. White-browed Babbler.

Really like the Grey-Tailed Tattler and a White-browed Babbler. Interesting names too.

PERTH, Australia

Thanks, GG. I had to concentrate not to get the various parts of their names mixed up. No such thing as a Grey-browed Babbler.

South Hamilton, MA

does the Tattler tattle to the Babbler? Sorry I couldn't resist that. Pretty birds.

The Babbler babbled after the Tattler tattled.

Lily that is a wonderful start to the newest thread!! Congrats on your newest lifer the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, and great shots of the Red-shouldered and Cooper's Hawk's!
Reddirt, super shots of your bird's and I seen the shot of the leucistic Red-tail!
Elphaba, nice shots of your Warbler's!!
Duc, I was on my phone when I posted earlier and that is an excellent shot of the Rusty...you represented it very well!!
Nanny, nice shots!! Ive been patiently waiting for my winter bird's to return, no one yet but I need to head out of town to get the food they like, I can no longer get it where I live anymore and my current mix just isn't cutting it. lol
Margaret, great shots and congrats on the lifer's! That bill on the Pacific Gull look's like a pair of shears...wouldn't want my finger's to get near that. lol
Well glad to see some of you getting new bird's and I have added another to my list also, thought I would have seen them by now but a flock of 15 or so Pine Siskin's No. 214 showed up for a minute at Sheldon's Marsh (my hangout until Pipe Creek re-open's in January).
