Great start to the thread, Lily_love. Nice shots of the hawks.

Duc, that's fantastic you've got a first-ever in your county bird and good of you to let the fanatics in. Nice shots.

Cute Hairy, nanny.

I was away for a few days at a large fishing town north of Perth. Ospreys were everywhere. I didn't see any on natural platforms. There was one family, with fledged young, on an artificial platform like those seen the the US, but most of the ones I saw were old craypots that had been installed at the top of concrete pillars. This one was only a few hundred metres from the centre of town. It didn't have a nest constructed within it, but this bird had clearly staked it out as its own. There was another on the other side of town with a resident osprey, but no nest. The ospreys clearly like these craypots, but they are much, much smaller than the usual artificial platforms and I don't know how any osprey could manage to successfully rear multiple chicks in them.
