central, NJ(Zone 6b)

1-3" here too...I really can't believe it's snowing....It was coming down in huge chunks looked like cotton candy falling from the sky

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

32 F overcast, with dampness in the air. We've got it covered! That means the monster silouettes in the windows will work when the little children arrive at 3 pm for a Halloween piano party. Bottles of water and lots of aluminum and mirrors in the fireplace look like its making cold, not heat. This is one day when cold looks fun and spooky. If it weren't such small children coming, I'd read some Edgar Allen Poe, maybe "Ullalume." "The skys they were ashen and sober, the trees were all crispen and seer... on this dank dark night of October, the darkest of nights of the year..."

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Big flakes now. About an inch so far. 32. Branches are LOW. 20 ft crapes are touching the ground!

Thomaston, CT

Love that word "crispen" Rosemary.....not very fall like here!

One good thing - I can't see any weeds!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - large branches snapping all over around here. Like gunshots. Saw a few fall from my neighbor's trees. Keep hearing sirens too.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Even calling for 6-10 inches in NYC by 2 AM!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Lots of rain here yet and very windy.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Thomaston, CT

Getting hammered....still have power, unlike 280,000 in CT right now....I do have the generator, hoping I won't need it! Looks to be about 5" in the driveway...calling for around 10" before it's over....

annapolis, MD(Zone 7b)

Greetings from the Mid Atlantic region

Storm is beginning to leave our area. Temps have been lower than forecast...we have an area wide freeze warning for tonight. Freeze before frost.

Hope your region and you and yours stay safe. Lots of power outages . Stay warm and snug.

Posting from my phone. Power been out most of the day. Tree in front snapped in half. No more ghosts and broken stuff all over out there

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh no! Stay safe - that's the main thing!

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Bills garden is lovely, before and after the snow. We still have pwer, but lights have dimmed several times tonight already. No high winds here yet, but we've been warned. The town was sent reverse 911 warnings to watch out I'm trying to keep teengagers from wandering too far tonight. Everyone please stay safe and cozy.

Northern, NJ(Zone 6b)

Drove from NJ to Philly this morning through rain, freezing rain, then snow, heavy wet snow.
Coming back was the same in reverse.
When I reached home the street tree at the end of the driveway, an ornamental plum, was hanging so low I couldn't get in the driveway.
Very poor street tree, any heavy rain and it droops. I was waiting for it to go dormant so I could thin it out again but it looks like it will snap with the coming winds.
Driving down the side streets was an obstacle course, trees and branches everywhere in the streets. Some trees were leaning so far over they were horizontal.
On the sides of the turnpike hundreds of trees were down, they looked like bushes instead of trees.
The wet snow on the leafy trees were more then they could take.
Looks much worse then hurricane Irene.

Hope you get the power back soon onewish.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Wow you guys are getting snow before me...there is something wrong here!

Camping coffee pot is over a sterno .. Hot coffee in an hour any one LOL

Westbrook, CT(Zone 6a)

Not much snow at home, just enough to put kaput to the annuals, but in Middletown our performing group's Gilbert and Sullivan opera matinee was briefly interrupted by a power failure, and the city's storm measures cancelled the evening performance. What a letdown. And just when I had found a role suited for my aging limbs!

Northern, NJ(Zone 6b)

Beautiful lantern and photos wha.

Hope the snow melts and I don't have to shovel.

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

Good morning, everyone.

I'm sorry for those on the East coast getting all the snow. I know what that is like and pray for your safety.

Supposed to be sunny and in the low 50's today in WNY.

Have a blessed and safe Sunday, friends. ☺

-Dave

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

We had rain and winds along with maybe two minutes of hail but no snow and the dahlias, asters and Sheffield mums are still in great shape.

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

Following the weather in your gardens and I am so sorry for the early snows.
Hard to imagine the song " I'm dreaming of a white Halloween. "
Stay safe everyone....

This was at 5, shortly before the power went out. By 6 the pioneer spirit had deserted us. The prospect of spending the night without heat and light was bad enough, but not being able to cook except over the fireplace did us in. We looove our food! Driving was tedious but not scary, and ordered-in Thai was yummy. Next time we try to sit out a storm, we'll do it with a generator.
