Thank you all for thinking about me....8 days without power, phone & internet....just came on a short time ago. The generator was a lifesaver....had my Mom, brother & SIL living here, but their power was restored a few days ago...I had 2 plugs, an electric fry pan, and a microwave to try to feed 4. My cousin Jim rescued me right after the storm because only 2 gas stations in the area were open, & they soon ran out...Jim never lost power & gave me his gasoline, which I hope not to smell again in a long time....my house, car, clothes, etc reek of gas as I spent most of the day tending to the generator....but I'm not complaining! My next door neighbors had a baby during the storm, & thankfully, were able to borrow a generator, but it wasn't strong enough to heat water...they were boiling it on the wood stove. I lost parts of most of my trees, & totally lost my crabapples....Garret spent 2 days here cleaning up, but he's not finished. The entire face of my town has changed....all the old trees are broken or down. I'm very sad about the crab...it was my bird tree, but happy my home & my family are safe and whole.
Weather In Your Garden # 108
Oh so sorry to hear Robin, but glad you're back!
So glad you are through the crisis, Robin. It is sad to lose so many trees at once, but trees can grow again, so thank goodness you are all safe.
Glad to hear you and your family are safe. It's always sad when the old and the favorite trees are lost. Glad to have you back with us.
Glad to hear you weathered through. Sorry bout all the damage, just glad you are safe.
glad you are ok RD
wish i had a generator - glad you are back to full power marilyn!
Welcome back, Marilyn. So sorry about all your trees... I know you lost a lot last winter too. But I'm glad you made it through all right. Let's hope that was the worst for quite a while to come.
Pam
Glad that you are safe. Amember of our iris group from the Hartford area still was without power, she said on Sun. I think she has a generator, but that doesn't always help & they can be dangerous.
Good morning, everyone.
Currently partly sunny and 54 degrees in WNY. They are predicting a few days in the 60's this week. Very nice.
The storm many of you just got reminds me so much of what we went through in October 2006. Not fun at all. I'm glad power is continuing to be restored and I'm continuing to pray for safety.
Have a blessed and marvelous Monday, friends. :)
Thank you all, dear friends! I'm just amazed that one storm can be so disruptive....since many restaurants & stores were closed, the ones that were open were mobbed.....and I can't begin to describe the laundramat! It wasn't safe driving on many roads, 16 roads were still blocked in my town midweek....I thought it was ironic that the photo I posted at the start of the storm was the loss that bothered me most.....
On a more positive note, Garret said he can get a good-sized crabapple to replace what went down, but not until spring....something to look forward to!
Painful. Glad you did get that last photo.
We cross posted. Glad to hear of the impending new arrival!
