Coffee break #67

Wow Victor

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Where is th house? This is so exciting. I think the closing brings more negotiation for what the inspector finds. There was haggling over woodrot in the windows here, They caved and fixed it so everyone was happy.
Is David a handy guy?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

It's just a couple miles from me, it looked in good shape. Lindseys dad is pretty handy and he gave a yes or no on every house they looked at. David does a lot of his own work on his car, so he could manage some things I'm sure. But I'm not getting excited yet.

They must be professional photographers!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not necessarily. Pretty simple to do.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Maybe the time lapse part itself isn't that hard, but the time and care involved is something! When I was expecting, I don't think I even wanted to stand up much.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Looks like another house fell through, they offered list, but someone else offered cash. I hope there's a good reason.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

W O W That was quick LiLo is out of jail after a few hours. Who would have thought.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

amazing they are having competition buying a home at this time - hope they find one they really like debi.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Buyer's market. If you're young with solid employment, great time to buy.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I think it's a popular area and price range. There are a lot out there, they'll find one, it's just hard to see them discouraged. He's had 2 offers accepted, then rejected, but maybe that's how it goes.

Who is Lilo?

we looked at over 80 houses before buying this one

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

80 houses? Wow

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

80 is a lot!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Whoa!! I looked at 7 - all in one day.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Jen wanted a slope of exactly 0.000 degrees. ^_^

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i looked at a hand full - limited the search up front by having to have certain criteria.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

wonder what happens at resturaunts with long menu's?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Like never owned by a Yankee fan??

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I looked at two before I bought this one - only because the agent made me look at another one. That is the third time I have bought a house looking at two or less. Guess I'm not very picky.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I had a certain criteria, too but pictures and the sales info only told you so much and many times found errors in the info.
For instance, wanted a lot bigger than 1/2 acre....one of the listings was for a lot size of 150'x500' I was so excited to find a large lot, but so diasappointed when I got there it was actually 150'x 50' and the only distance from the road was the width of the sidewalk

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Wasn't being picky but knew what I wanted and didn't even get everything on my list...go figure...
the most important thing was the yard...as soon as we show the backyard we were sold

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wonder how many you would have looked at if you WERE picky! ^_^

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Lilo is Lindsey Lohan.

Houses. We were looking at homes with "inlaws apts" All inlaws were either the den off the kitchen with a remodled powder room ,or in the basement. Stairs I could have had in my old house.
DD and SIL and I sold our houses-pooled our money to buy a large house. I noticed this one was listed as having a Master suite on the first floor, with a little tweaking the walk in closet has a student fridge and table where I make morning coffee.
Loved the whole place as soon as I walked in. Built 1988. We have remodled all the baths 3 1/2 and the kitchen.
DD is in charge of large trees and shrubs. I am in charge of as much garden space as I can handle. Its a dream come true and I never forget how lucky I am in my daughters.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

that would have taken a region of homes not just jersey!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

LOL probably over 100

here was the list of what I wanted
#1 above all others, large yard, didn't want to see or hear the neighbors, don't want to know when they leave for work or when they come home
3 bdrms and a den/office(didn't get the den)
eat in kitchen and formal dining room(didn't get the eat in kitchen)
separate living and family rooms(got that)
more than 1 bath(got that)
2 car garage(got that)
and a house that we can move right in without worrying about overhauling everything...DID Not want a fixer upper...we had just got done remodelling my parents house, the entire house except the kitchen was gutted. In the kitchen we had just changed the windows, painted, put a new floor down and new stove, cabinets and other appliances stayed

We would have even been happy with a smaller house on a HUGE lot but it would have had to be livable while doing an addition, couldn't find that

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I had to have a house that I could move into in less than 30 days - and it was the dead of winter. I love my house - it is just perfect, especially since I have my neighbor's yard as a garden annex! Wait - I would like a bathroom in the attic where I sleep - so it is almost perfect.

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

I too had a specific idea in mind when I was looking for a new house 2 years ago. I probably looked at 20 and when I walked in the front door of this one, it just SAID to me .... "I am home". Didn't even need to look at the rest of the house, but of course I did. The only thing that wasn't on my list was a large kitchen. I love to bake and have things settting on my counter, but there isn't much room for that. However, I gave up the large kitchen for all the other aspects that I loved. One included an inground swimming pool. Boy do we enjoy that! Especially when the kids and grandkids are out.

We moved here over 40 yrs ago. We had the cocker spaniels & the 2 horses (one was a shetland pony.) So we bought a lot & built the house. Quite a bit of woods as it had been on a 30 yr conservation list. The builder gave us the plans of a house he had built & we made the changes we wanted. When I told him we wanted overhead lighting in the bedrooma, he said they didn't do that any more. I said 'do it'. I can't imagine looking for something in the dresser, with a lamp on the other side of the room.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Nice pool!

Ya, don't understand when a builder says "oh we don't do that, or that's not "in" anymore" Who's paying you??? DO it!!! Builder told my sil that stained trim was "out"....my sil said "I don't care, if it's in or out, I'm the one paying you"

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Company paid a partial payment, didn't notate what invoices they were paying...the total of the check does not add up to any combination of invoices I have for them......UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have no idea how they came up with this amount....these people have been giving us the runaround. They are late in paying, excuse, oh I was out for a few days and it sat on my desk, oh, I mailed 2 checks, you should have gotten them...check the address??? they had wrong po box # and will recut a check and now this is the mess I need to deal with and it's not for a full payment!!!!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

If I were the joking type (hee hee), I might ask what Jen's 'list of demands' for a husband were...

central, NJ(Zone 6b)
