don't laugh. I have been shopping for the family. (books) I do that all year around, much easier to find ones for different tastes.
Coffee break #67
Sounds like a nice outing.....I'm babysitting.
The only way I can go 'window shopping' , is to leave my plastic and cash at HOME. lol
Ditto Crit!
Yeah, good luck, Jan! And Marilyn. LOL
YAY, I showed restraint and only window shopped. I did see a lot that I wanted, but, held back. We had a good buffet lunch, I should have ordered off the menu though. I only used one plate one time plus dessert of course. It would have been cheaper a la carte. OHHH, plus I got a senior discount and I told her my birthday wasn't for 2 weeks, but she didn't care. My share was $20.71.
3 of us stuck together at the outlets. My hip was really bothering me and we were tired by 2:30, so we ditched the outlets and went antiquing instead. Saw some neat things. Again showed restraint. After all I have a roomful of things to get rid of, why would I add more? I was checking what the price tags said, so that once my appraisal gets finished I have something to compare it to. My one friend has a list of my mom's things she wants. I will do right by her, but am patiently waiting for that appraisal. I don't want to give things away either.
Good for you, Jan! You're a smart lady all the way around. We've been doing lots of cleaning out here. It's a small house and it was time to clean out and perk up. I'm happiest when my nest is simple and uncluttered. Hard to believe that we've been retired 5 years this month...guess it was about time to freshen the place up a bit..
Started my Christmas shopping last week - all online, of course.
There isn't much time here for anything! Three kids applying to college. We're finally between seasons in school sports. Swarms of teenagers come and go and like friendly locusts, they consume all the edibles before they fly away. We're trying to finish the mulching of leaves, and general cleanup of the remaining sticks and garden debris too.
Triplets?!!

I always loved the swarms of kids (mostly my own). That way I knew where they were. They'd eat everything in sight, too. I would hide special treats for myself otherwise I'd never see them.
Oh yeah,3 in college at once. Those were the days!!! Thankfully one of mine went to the US Coast Guard Academy. That definitely helped in the finances.
Best wishes to them on their choices.
30 seconds apart, two girls and a boy. All different interests and different talents too for 3 18 year-old hs seniors. I still think they'll end up at the big state campus, but right now the girls are dreaming of out of state. If they want academic scholarships they had better get their applications done or they'll get the dregs. They're looking at foreign languages, engineering, and biology with Latin (premed), but nobody's certain. Gardening is how I relax lately.
Wqw....I couldn't imagine having three of the same age! My 3 grandkids are 6, 5, 31/2.....they drive me pretty crazy and I don't have to live with them! No wonder my son's hair is going gray.....
Wow - it would take more than gardening for me!
We have to just do the best we can and hope for the best. Today I missed the yearbook purchase deadline because with three you'd think someone would mention it, so there are always ways we come up short but have to try to get the problem fixed.
We also had three in college at once with no financial aid. I'm so glad that phase has passed! I'll bet we all find/found great joy in the sounds of our kids and their friends having fun and spending time in our homes! I have such great memories of the sounds of soccer, baseball and football games in our yard, as well as Mike and his good friend trading baseball cards or playing Nintendo on the floor of our family room.
Wow, Rosemary! I give you so much credit! I started the post above and then left to take the girls out, and just read your post! It sounds like your triplets are headed in great directions, and that says so much about you and your DH! Oh MY!
Glad they caught him...what nerve!
Whoa - there will soon be a post number with all 8's!
Cosmic!
That sounds like Wilmington. It is real bad there. Here about it all the time. It's right across the river from me.
Rosemary, doing the best we can is all we can do and it sounds like you are doing it just fine!!! Kids certainly keep life interesting.
Hi Everybody!!
Just checking in. I've been abducted by facebook, but haven't forgotten my wonderful DG friends, not by a long shot. I am well, drawing is going slow. Nothing real to report.
