Today, I am thankful for...#9

We came from here:

Sometimes, all it takes to help smooth a rough day is to remember what we have for which to be grateful. Big or small, thoughtful or funny, there is always something--even during those times when we have to dig really deep to find it. Sharing our thanks also cheers others to look for theirs. :-)

I am thankful for the new thread and the silly pictures. And to have all my flower bulbs planted.

I am thankful for:

PBS British Mysteries.

Clean pillowcases

Extension cords

SE/Gulf Coast Plains, AL(Zone 8b)

Today I am thankful to have all the new daylilies in the ground to the exacting specifications of my dearly beloved. I’m thankful he is addicted to something as benign as daylilies. Last of all, I’m thankful there were some fragrant varieties in the mix. Thank you so much, Debra. I am so looking forward to next summer. k*

No Central, AZ(Zone 7b)

Today I am thankful to have seen the movie Courageous. It shows men who step up to be the fathers and husbands the Lord describes in Scripture. I recommend it, if not in the theater, then when it comes out in video/netflicks/tv.

(Debra) Garland, TX

My pleasure, Kay. :-) Sun Silk wasn't on the selected list, but when it increases next year, I'm sending some for you. Bloomed this week and has the MOST incredible fragrance. Good substantial petals, too. And it isn't pink. :-)

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

Ditto on the clean pillowcases plus clean sheets. Also grateful for elmer's glue, and box cutters.

Dahlonega, GA

Debra , if I smile real sweet and if you have just one extra , could you mail it to me ?I don't have any daylillies and would like something that smells good .

(Zone 7a)

LOL!

(Debra) Garland, TX

Sally, of course, I will! I also have a bunch of others left. If you want to plant some now, dmail an address and I will send them out tomorrow. I've been buying like crazy this year, they are always double fans (which can be separated into at least two plants), and often a one-for-one bonus. So I am not out any extra money and am having a great time sharing. :-)

Dahlonega, GA

Debra , this isn't the time , tho I'm grateful . I'm leaving in ten days for six months . Can't plant them in Tex. Won't be watered next summer and don't have time to plant here . I'll wait until next spring and I only want two or three scented ones . I've only had orange ones at a house I bought years ago . We'll get together on a trade later on . Thanks again , Sally

(Debra) Garland, TX

Can do. :-)

Midland City, AL

Today I am thankful to have my own bathroom back. I painted it with an oil-based paint and it took a long time to dry properly. I'm very thankful said bathroom isn't orange anymore. I'm just not a burnt orange kind of girl. :-) ~N~

Midland City, AL

What can I say, I was new to the whole house husband gig and “Chutney” looked awesome on the little color swatches at the paint store. :-) I discovered working with orange shades is not for amateurs. I still like the color. It looks good used out in the garden. (Jim)

(Zone 7a)

Burnt Orange wouldnot be my 1st choice for a bathroom, either. Ugh! Too much for such a small space. It's bad enough that our tiles in there are Avocado Green! Ugh, again!

Today, I'm thankful for Hagen Daz and V8 Splash.

Brookhaven and UNT graduate mehself, but did get a few graduate hours at UTD...which is in the same system, even if not a Longhorn. :-D

Not me , for sure , but kids DW and the grandkids . They go bonkers for football .

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

digger now where do you think you are heading off to for six months...!!!!! I sure hope you won't be gone from here that long????

I'm happy as Step Mother, when I took her to the dr and hospital for tests, doesn't have any blood clots or infection in the leg bones. I'm also happy that we are getting just the right amount of rain as we are on the north side of the storm.

Jan

Jan , I won't be gone from here . We have a place in Tex , where my son is, that we divide our time between . His kids here , mine there .I got a laptop and did use Cricket, but going to probably go between library or McDonalds to use the wi fi . Much cheaper . I don't need to hang out off and on all day long , might even get something done out there .
My son is 54 and sooooo spoiled for Mama. He has his first G B and is crazy for that kid .A good family man .
I'm 73 now and he thinks I should get in as much Mama and Son Time as possible . He's right .He lost his daddy a few years ago and was just spending some good quality time when his dad was diagnosed with cancer .Sad for him .

Oh sorry to hear about your sons loss, yes get as much time together as possible. My mom has been gone for 8 years now and I still miss her terrible.

I'm so thankful for another day to enjoy living in Florida and to have a job.

I'm very thankful to still have my dad. And my mom too.

Thankful today for Game 1. :-) Been a long time coming.

Thankful for semi-homemade chili.

Thankful for curious three-year-old little boys visiting daddy across the street. Helped plant a daylily, introduced himself to both dogs, learned what a hand-held garden fork can do in a pile of leaves, and described his "I'm gonna be a pumpkin" Halloween costume. He helped lighten up a heavy day.

Midland City, AL

I like the look you created, Digger. When I have more experience I will try orange inside again.
I'm thankful for a warm house on cold nights. We are having a cool snap that will put our lows in the 30's for the next few nights. (Jim)

Dahlonega, GA

That color is in the little cove with two bedroom doors and a third door to restroom . I haven't finished the doors yet but too much of that color would be Too Much ! Fine for an accent.
I'm thankful I had my folks as long as I did .

Midland City, AL

A friend I play World of Warcraft with online just experienced a quake. How are things where you are, Quilty? (Jim)

(Debra) Garland, TX

Today, I am thankful for...

Neftali Feliz

Quinceañeras

Sliced ham and swiss cheese

Dahlonega, GA

Debra , you are too old to have a Quinceanera. lol . How do I get a squiggle above my n ?

(Debra) Garland, TX

It is for one of my long-time employee's daughter. I am going to the church ceremony in the morning, leaving the dinner and dancing to my younger staff. :-) I copied the word from Google and it imported. Going to try italics and such next.

Dahlonega, GA

Teasing you ! It is a beautiful tradition .

(Debra) Garland, TX

And she is a beautiful young woman. You can see what her mother looked like at the same age.
========================================================================

Today, I am thankful the local animal shelter lets you spend as much time as you want with the dogs. Brought out three. None will do well with my two at home, but going there also reinforced I'm not ready for a third dog again. Think I will ask the vet's staff to keep an eye out for one they think might want to live with us. Since they are all very familiar with all three of mine, well... :-)

I am thankful for Chocolate Malt Ovaltine and decaffeinated Spiced Chai Tea concentrate. Good cold milk and some ice for either, and...

Madea in all her incarnations.

Midland City, AL

DW still hasn't forgiven the Atlanta Braves for trading Neftali Feliz.
Today I am thankful to have finished processing all the basil harvest and that the cotton rose (Hibiscus mutabilis) is blooming. A sure sign autumn is here. (Jim)

Tonight I am simply grateful to have a little time to relax.

Also grateful for more time to relax today. One class almost completed just the final to take. Grateful for Chai Tea with friends, pumpkins, and halloween decorations.

Glad for the first good frost . Now I can pull my EE up and store blubs for winter .
