Rita, that is a snazzy little palm. I see them for sale occasionally around here, but, they hate even the smallest bit of cold. Even here they need a heated space Nov to the end of Feb. But, I bet you know that....

here's T. grandiflora up in the trees. Every year I give ONE vine permission to go nuts...this is it's year.

Dale-the-Gardener, the Licuala grandis was an impulse buy, I did not research the cold hardiness. I have forgotten a lot of important stuff, and appreciate all the help that I can get. Thanks for mentioning that important detail. I am planning to keep it in my GH.

ardesia, thanks, that was the answer to "mom, what do you want for your birthday." Hopefully I will be able to show it off next year. I have not been able to keep the coconut tree alive.
The Thornless Crown of Thorns has been in bloom for most of the summer.
dyzzy, we did get 3/10" of rain last night, my friend close to Glen Rose received 4". It looks promising for more. (smiling all over)
KayJones, your rocket plant still looks like Cleorodendrum Indicum to me. They will send runners 20 ft. from the mother plant, but are easy to pull.
Birdnest Anthurium, it is hard to take a picture without showing the dead and burnt foliage from summer.
Joeswife, your MGs are making me very happy, they are blooming up a storm!!
I've had an abundance of butterflys and hummers lately. I am wishing for one more month to enjoy all the beauty these flowers can bring.

mjsponies, that is a good shot of your T. grandiflora. Mine is all foliage, not a single bloom so far.

Well, I wish I could send some of this 8+ in. of rain since Friday night your way Lou and Rita, we need it but not as much as you and I would be glad to share....
Soooo, since it was too rainy to work out in the garden, I hunkered down in the barn with my big ole root....
Every thing is "soft tied" in with some native Tillasandia's for filler, I need to go back up to the "Power Plant" ie EFG orchids for more stuff...George hooked me up with Tolunnia fma ( formerly classified as an oncidium) but I think I'd like to add one of those mini Vietnamese Cat's in with it. But it's a start.....and I figure since I'm new to this mounting stuff, it's learn as you go...right ?
By the way, if anyone is in the area Oct. 21-23 they are having "Orchtober Fest"...I'll be working up there Friday and Saturday. They are packed to the gills with stock...and will have vendors. I'm hoping to snag a few new hoya's that weekend.
Speaking of Crown of Thorns, mine is still in its little pot, should I move it up a pot yet?

You Bet, MJ, wow, that root planter is looking very cool.. Been uprooting Brugs that aren't near budding, and trying to decide who to keep and who not to keep.
Drew and KayJones, I will be sending your brugs this week assuming I can find boxes they will fit in, if not, you might get Bottoms ( root balls) if you don't mind.
I am very pleased to announce that one of the three passion vine cuttings has roots all along the bottom of the stem in the water tub. YAY!

Deb, I ventured out in the rain this afternoon cause I couldn't stand being cooped up anymore. The Brug you sent me last year has one lonley little bud on it. I'm so hoping it makes to bloom, that would make 3 out of 4 this year, a record for me !!
one bloom usually leads to a flush, MJ. I bet as it cools off it will start going crazy. I started feeding mine a little heavy since they are budding.
the calico vine I got from you is starting to go all around the whole room. Should I feed it to get some blooms?

These fronts keep swinging down out of the Northwest and dragging in the Gulf moisture you guys in Texas will be a lot better off by Spring!
I know, Kay. We've only had spits and splashes here , too. But I think we're going to get hit tomorrow and Tuesday, then this whole system will roll on up the East Coast, so Drew, Alice and Paula will need to break out the lifeboats again!

Going to Salt Lake to plant daffodils in my daughter's garden. Dh will be in charge of the home front . . . so I need to tune up all the watering timers or things will be very dead.
Crotons...
Kay if you go onto Melbournes radar, you'll see the rain coming in to Central Fl. Since Friday night, it's been everything from a drizzle to Monsoon..with little break in between. Really I'm not complaining, just wish this had been spread out over the month of Sept, not all at once. We are now up to 10 in. since Friday night. First time I've seen puddles in my riding arena all year. But I'm quite sure it will all soak in very quickly once this system passes.
Well, I'm not in central Florida, but in the far NW corner of the state, right on the ocean.
Still raining here, nice and slow.. been playing in it all day, bottleing it up as fast as I can. Thanks for the infor MJ, I will get some other kind of fert for it, since all I have is 20-20-20.

Everything here thinks it is spring, the forget me nots are even blooming again.
This plant just keeps on kicking out the blooms, it stayed inside all last year, and is coming back in. It is really tall now.
Deb, if you want to 'dabble' in crotons, try "Picasso's Paintbrush". It stays small, and almost looks like an ornamental grass, but still has the fabulous colors. I think Alice showed a picture of it earlier in the year.
I saw a couple at the plant sale on Friday, but they were in somebody's hands . . . or I would have bought them.
Drew, I need to know if you want to try a fat cutting, ( Not rooted) or have rooted plants in the brug world. I havn't noticed if you like to "root" things or not ..
I also want to send you a pup of that plant I divided up earlier.
all over the state the snow on the mountain is gone, but this one is not going anywhere, I wonder if it would "root" from a cutting?
Local weatherman was very discouraging last night. If we get a typical winter (very cold) the trees are so stressed from the extreme heat and drought that they expect 80% to not return next spring. That will be a catastrophe of dire circumstances.
Pray they are wrong.

mjsponies, we eventually got a little under 1" of rain, which did a lot for my plants and my enthusiasm. Hopefully, it has subsided in your area enough for you to get out of the barn, lol. You are so creative, you turned your big old root into a piece of art.
I wish that I could go Hoya shopping with you, they are quickly becoming my new obsession.
dyzzy, that sounds like it will be a fun time planting daffodils for your dd. The squirrels have dug up most of my bulbs, now they are eating my pecans.
