I've had progressive lenses for 2 years and don't like them. I can see close up better without them on at all, so still take them off to read or eat or work at the computer. I think I might go back to regular since I just take them off all the time anyway.
Coffee Break #66
It took awhile to get used to them. I now rarely use my glasses after cataracht surgery, but that is rather drastic relief. On the lenses you have to learn to tilt your head differently.
Same here, Deb. Much easier to read w/o them.
I was wondering if they can make them with just clear glass at the bottom.
Jeez -they grow them tough in NJ http://www.greenwichtime.com/news/article/Bear-attacks-llama-in-northern-NJ-2212553.php
That's right, we tough!!!!
She's Italian!
Where is everybody????
I usually good with math but having issues today...*sigh*
what is $1.41 + 20%?
What %MU is $1.77 if cost is $1.41?
1.692 - 1.41 X 1.2
$ 1.41 times 1.2
$1.77-$1.41 divided by $1.41
25.5%
did you use excel memory? i used a TI BA-20 calculator:)
Actually I googled for the formula for the markup - I didn't do any math. I knew the formula for figuring out adding 20%.
I always add 10% to things then fix it by the real% asked. shows you the state of my math.
I am sitting at the back of my house and the town is digging up the sewer line in the front by the road, and the house is vibrating. I'm surprised my dog is quiet.
Some days are just fun.
you got it Memory!!
Subbed in pre-k today....that was fun....however, I'm totally beat right now!
Lots of energy at that age!
Can anyone help me with this 2nd grade project? I got it last night and it is due next Friday. My big question is does the teacher expect the model to look like the actual building or can it look like a generic government type building? There are 3 court houses that I found in Bridgeport and they are all very difficult to reproduce in a scale model with "crayons and shoe boxes and legos". I only have this weekend to get it done - which means getting Eric to my house and having the supplies all ready and the paper to write the paragraph and pencil and a label. I am probably over thinking this - but it is a lot of pressure and I want to give him the best shot possible. Besides on the last project - the research paper on Bat, he only got an A- because (he said the teacher said) we forgot something.
We are studying communities in social Studies. The students have listed different parts of our community in Bridgeport. Students have learned what each part of the community represents and how they help the community.
The next step in this unit is to create our own personal community. Each student will be assigned to create a part of the community out of household items. Items such as shoeboxes, clay, crayons, markers, legos, etc. may be used to create a representation of their place in the community.
Along with the creation of this model, the students will need to write a brief paragraph explaining how this part of the community is important to the people that live within it. You may help them create the model, but please allow your children to write their paragraph. Thank you for your support.
Your child will be creating a model of Bridgeport courthouse.
If you have any questions or concerns with this project, please let me know.
It is due on Friday, October 21st. Have Fun!!
Model Community Rubric
40 pts. The model of the place is neatly represented and labeled correctly.
40 pts. The paragraph of the place is written in complete sentences and explains the importance to the community.
10 pts. The overall presentation is neat.
10 pts. The project is in on time.
Sounds like it has to be representational, Memory.....get ready for some detailed work!
My grandkids paid a visit this evening....I chatted with them, while son & DIL were prowling in the attic....just what I needed after my extra-tiring day....I kept throwing hints that the kids should be in bed by 7:30 on a school night....my son was, with lights out at 8.......very hard to keep my mouth closed after teaching so many years, & attuned to what kids need, versus what they're getting.......
How represential can a 2nd grade project be?
That is what I want to know. So I took some small boxes, a piece of Masonite and some artificial turf along with the address of three of the courthouses over to their house and talked to Eric and his middle brother. His parents weren't home so I told Tony that he and his big brother had to help Eric build this model or there would be no cucumbers for him next summer. Tony absolutely loves cucumbers and I give him more than he can eat every summer - so I hope that is a good threat. I said that I would help make the label on the computer and help Eric write the paragraph that goes with the project. I also reminded Tony about my utter lack of building skills - which he very well knows. I just wish that the mother spoke better English. They count on me for school things and I would hate to fail them.
Some of them are lucky to get any tip at all!
Really!
Thanks Guys on the math I thought I was losing my mind.....hate it when the mechanics try to "help" and do their own pricing
Cat, I would just make sure the windows and doors and if there are steps or columns that they are in the right places....it is 2nd grade for pete's sake
25% standard pffffttt!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went to Fire Dept open house last night and my daughter won one of the door prizes( a toy rescue helicopter)

That is funny!
(I am hating this current trend of 'period abuse'. See it on Twitter all the time. They do it in that link - Best. PSA. Ever.)
Hello all. I am not a "Northeast Gardener", but have been lurking and reading posts. Hanging head in shame. ^_^ You all sound like a fun bunch and wondered if you would let a 'Midwestern Gardener' in your mix? I always like joining other areas sights and learning new stuff.
If anyone is interested in swaps, a friend of mine is hosting a Thanksgiving Swap. Here is the link to it: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1224241/
Victor, I enjoy reading the links that you post. Very interesting!
Hope to be able to join this thread and get to know you all!

Welcome, Crit. We're glad to add more to the party!
Spending time with little Maggie Pearl today. She will be 4 in Nov. Her mommy wanted to pack their suitcase (without her help lol) for their trip to Alaska tomorrow. She is such a joy. They are going to visit DIL's two sisters, but the trip is going to be an ordeal. Her dad booked their flight and they have 2 layovers. UGH!!!
Geniuses indeed!
Hmmmm.... I may just have to get that APP

Having worked for the postal service, I can believe that.....I think much more theft goes on in those large POs than we imagine.....
Most colorful foliage around here right now is poison ivy and Virginia creeper!
Had deliveries from the PO, UPS and Fedex today, all within about seven minutes!
Hmmm...sounds like some planting will be goin on
Only one was garden stuff - bulbs.
