Grab your coffee cup and sit a spell. :)
We came from here http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1200730/#new
I don't know about the rest of you but this month has been one relative after another!! LOL
I got to see my Godmother & Godfather from S.C. in the begining of the month, they are 79 & 80 years old. I know their trips up North are limited so this was wonderful to spend time with them.
A few days later I spent a day with my DSIL, she is actually my ex-DSIL but can not think of her that way. She married my brother when I was 2 and they divorced when I was 40......she'll always be my DSIL!
The following week I saw my 2 nieces from out of state and one niece who lives in Southern Maine. She is a very busy women so we don't see each other as often as we would like. This was really nice for all 3 sisters to get together w/their old Aunt. ;)
This weekend was my busiest so far...spent all day Friday baking for the Lobster Festival.
Sat. morning up @ 4 to be a balloon fest by 6am launch. :) Home by 8:30am mowed the lawn and went to the dump. Took a shower and a quick nap before lobster time. Went to the lobster fest, had a great time eating everything that was not nailed down. ^_^ On Sunday my brother from Nevada came for dinner along with 2 other brothers that live in Maine. I collapsed last night early and do not feel fully rested yet. I have until Sat. to "bounce" back...then off we go to a wedding. Hopefully the wedding will end my fun filled month and Sept. will bring plenty of R & R. ^_^ ^_^ ^_^
Coffee Break #65
Sounds like you had a great month, Celeste. Save some time for us in September!
Very busy lady! - That's good, no boredom at Pixie's house! ☺
Nice coffee pic! - very cool mugs.
Love the veggies! We're getting tons of tomatoes, broccoli, cukes...
Time to set up a little vegetable stand in front of the house Pirl! Get a market umbrella and a grocery scale, wood box with the slits to sit on would be good too, (gives it a nice authentic touch). Then you put up a sign in front that says: "Homegrown LI vegetables at discount prices!"
- Sure to get a lot of customers that way! ☺
The photos of Leann & Charlie were wonderful! Pixie, I guess that's what summer's for....nice visits! I used to sell my glads by the roadside....just made enough money to buy more glads.....
My cukes are petering out now but the watermelons, cantaloupe and beans are thriving. Mato's are still mostly green. I have HUGE pumpkins for the G-kids!!! Hopefully nothing will happen between now and the first of Oct. :)
Pirl i'll make plenty of time for you in Sept. As long as it's not the day of, or the day after I get my teeth yanked. LOL
Thanks WC, I have a set of 4 of those mugs, they are hand made in Poland... they are my favorite coffee mugs.
They are a bit pricey but tough as nails! I dropped one from approx. 3ft. once.....expecting it to shatter. It did not, just bounced once and that was it. No chip, crack, nothing! http://www.thepolishpotteryoutlet.com/6m7/mugs-cups-and-steins/12-oz-belly-mugs.html
Thanks Robin, good thinking on selling the galds for more bulbs! :)
(lol Pirl!)
There's a lady a few blocks away that sells her extra veggies. She puts up a table and the veggies in a few bowls, and sets up a scale. She puts the prices on a little sign and a box with an opening on the table. She does'nt sit there all day, people just drive by pick what they want and leave the money in the box. - it's very nice I think, shows trust. No one ever takes advantage that I know of, it's like an honor system. - can't do that in the city..
They do the same thing here WC. I however just put a box on the side of the road that says FREE and most days with in an hour or 2 it's gone...Box and all!!
- Thanks for the link Celeste! I might just get them for x-mas, DW loves collecting coffee mugs. ☺
My niece Rebecca came and stayed with me for the weekend, DH went to PA so it was girl's weekend. She is doing well after her surgery. Still needs occasional oxygen as her sats dropped into the 60's a couple times. But she looks fantastic.
We used to have a lot more honesty stands out here but with the increased traffic and people being less than honest (too often) many have closed completely.
Lovely pottery, Pixie.
Glad to hear your niece has done so well, Deb.
Good to hear Deb!
Well Pirl & WC....I can recomend another place....I own several piece from them amd I use them. Not for decoration....they are strong!

Now that's pricey! (lol) But the polish website is more in my range, lots of nice mugs, I'm bookmarking the ones I think DW would like. ☺
- Yes, good to hear Debi!
Wow you are one busy lady Celeste!!!
They do the honor box down here too with the roadside stands
First day of school...no tears....unless my daughter started crying after she got in the building
This is how my son was this morning....

That tomato sandwich says "summer" like nothing else can, Pirl! I have a Salmon Falls lasagna baker that my DH's niece gave me a few years ago....I totally love it! And I have some Polish dishes....no mugs though. There's an outlet in Lee, MA....will be going to that mall in a few weeks!
LOL Jen!!! A little excited was he?
Oh yeah!
Where is everybody???? Going to get some lunch but back to invoicing after that ....UGH!
Everyone is out in the garden....the weather is soooo perfect....of course, now we have to worry about a hurricane :>(
I am worried about a darn hurricane. "Most" dont understand what a hurricane can do. We get 70 MPH winds and we will be annihilated with down trees and lines.
The truck, tractors and chainsaws, WILL be full of fuel. #1 is because we live on a dead end road and there is only 1 way in and 1 way out. The road is on the last of the lists to be cleared or restored with electric. Approx. 3/4 of a mile down the road is a big cow Milking farm. They will get restored quick, I guess to ease spoilage. That road is connected to a "main" road that goes to the County Jail. That road will be one of the 1st to be fixed of down trees and lines along with the routes to the hospital.
Jim and some friends & neighbors with the tractors and chainsaws - WILL get our road cleared down to the farm if need be.
2nd - we have gas to cook, on the grill and in the house. If that dont work we have enough wood to supply the neighborhood. Plus there always is enough food to go I will say a month.
I should go to the store and get some batteries and some food. Something like corn chip scoops. I have enough salsa to go for a year ! Arumphh
Heck I dont need batteries as we have a generator.
I am not taking this hurricane lightly. Its better to be prepared then to go without, even for 1 day.
Its got to get here first but get ready to hunker down. At this point I dont see a pretty picture from NC to ME.
Sherrie are you on the coast side?
By the time it gets to you it prob won't even be considered a hurricane since they slow down immensely after going over land. Sounds like you have plenty of supplies...you'll be fine!
Randy thought about filling the chain saw too.. just in case
Good idea.
My nephew had professional pics done with Leanna before he has to go back to Afghanistan
Here's a preview

How sweet!
Actually they are saying that it will still be a hurricane when it hits Maine. Once it leaves our coast and travels over land for a bit it will quickly loose it's power. However, they also said it is on the same track that hurricane Gloria took when it hit Maine in 1985. I had a 200ft weeping willow land on my house. :( NOT looking forward to this!
I'm thinking about those white pines......not a pretty picture....
Lovely to have the pictures & glad everyone turned out all right.
Had a great time on vacation. Absolutely LOVED Quebec City. Wanna move there! Like a fairytale city. Will definitely return. Will post pics at some point.
Sounds great! can't wait to see the pics
Haven't been there since I was a kid, but I remember the beautiful old buildings.....
And no trash...human or paper.
Yes - very clean, very safe and, get this - the lowest unemployment in N America!
Wow - how awful is this?!! You know he must be close to the end for him to finally quit. He has always been a major control freak. Hope he does not suffer long.
