Just leaving as well,
Laura, everyone has so much to do and on their minds that our minds just cannot stop..how's the little one doing? Settling in now that you will drive him in? What day do you leave?
Looking forward to a week's vacation and goes without saying 'good company' !!

ONE MORE DAY!!! And yes, I'm yelling cause I thought it would never get here. Now, even with all my planning, I'm running around like a chicken with "Do I need this, do I need that?" I'm sure we will overpack for sure.....
Going to get all laundry done so everything is clean when we get home and I bring home a case full of dirty clothes!!!! Ahhh such is life!!
Mary I'm so sorry you are having a problem with DH. All I can say is talk - whether he listens is another thing I guess but that's how I handle everything . Talk it out and don't let things fester.... I don't always like the answers but Norm and I are always on the same page. Of course it's easy for me to say that as I'm not dealing with steps.. My only question to him would be why???
Judy, still sending you all soft gentle hugs and keeping you in my prayers. God bless Brian and his loved ones, All of you.
Bev, glad to hear you are down to just a splint now. It must feel so good to finally get that cast off. Hope things are okay with Scotty too. How is your heart issue now? Better?
Getting close Thea and Dianne!!!! We start out first thing tomorrow morning.
Has your son talked at all yet Laura about what is going on on the bus? Hope it can be resolved for him.
Thunder that passion flower is sooo pretty. We can't grow them here. I don't think I've ever seen a purple one!
Susan, sounds like the house is coming together very nicely. You'll be all set for the winter then and can spend your time sewing blocfks!!!! LOL
I'm off to get the rest of the day started. Hope it's a great one for all of you....
Morning everyone. Happy Birthday Mary. Hope you had a great day!
LOL at Betty, with the seat down! LOL!
Rise and shine!! Good morning everyone, hope all of you had a restful night.
Susan…to be honest we never did any fishing in Cold Lake!! Guess we were just too busy with building our family…lol
Cold Lake was our first posting together as husband and wife and coming from Germany it was a culture shock for me!!! Back home everything is so close and in Cold Lake well we had to drive 3 hours to Edmonton to get different clothes (maternity), because there were soooo many pregnant women up there and only one store for maternity clothes and I just didn`t wanted to wear the same thing like 50 other women…lol
Betty I am happy that you are doing the 5”holiday charm swap!! I will give Barb your charms.
LOL had to laugh at your toilet mishap…mine used to be when SOME males in our household leave the darn seat up during the night…I guess my yelling and cursing during the nights cured that problem…lol
Hope your back is feeling better today!!
Debbie, I know tattoos are not to everyone’s liking, but your son put a lot of thought into the tattoo…a tribute to his Grandma…everyone grieves in his/her own way and maybe this will help his healing/grieving. Some plant memorial gardens and others get Tattoos to remember their loved ones. And I am sure with time once the tattoo is finished it will put a smile on your face seeing the tattoo and remembering your DM. ((((((((((((((( Hugs))))))))))))
Mary, I hope your day is better today!! Maybe he has something special planned for this weekend.
Lots of hugs and sunshine for everyone that needs it…hope you all have a great day.
Well I am off to start cutting all those charms so I am ready for Sunday!!
Love and Hugs
Thea
Just can't resist..
Want to keep cool
http://www.wimp.com/babymoose
LOL Betty - those baby moose are soooooo cute, and the mother nudging them to play - reminds me of baby lambs - so cute!
Mary - kick your DH in the ***s...... (ahem - did I Say that? naughty Susan!!) but really - he needs Some kind of wake-up call. I remember my DH didn't say anything about it being my 50th until my DD organized a party and he said he did....... yeah right - he answered her ph call about who my friends were that she could invite! And he gave me a fake red rose (still have it 7 years later, so I guess it was a good idea! He loves me dearly, just doesn't realize how important birthdays are - it's the only day per year that we get all focus on US/magnificent woman (Anniversaries don't count as they are for both of us).
Thea - I used to live in Whitecourt, AB - Jan 79 to May 81 (boom/crash)- then moved to Winnipeg (back home) and now I'm back in Alberta - Calgary! I like the southern part of AB much better. We get longer hotter summers and milder winters!
Bev - hope that hand's swelling goes down faster!
Barb/Thea/Dianne/Betty - I KNOW you're all getting excited - think of me and send me some hugs (pretend I'm there with you - would sooooo love to be!
Cool nights here - brrrrr woke up to 8c! Will be a relatively hot weekend though at 29c! May do a bit of fishing?
Bob's doing well on the deck, but want it done NOW! lol
We got a gift of a TV cabinet (from neighbours - matches colour/style to my other china cabinet!) and are using it as a china cabinet, plus the 2 black bookcases which we were "gifted" several months ago, and have been storing in our neighbours' garage - they're glad to have 'em out lol Now, with the 2 china cabinets and 2 bookcases we look a little more "tied together" - always a good thing! Now got rid of several little cabinets - will sell them in the church's Oct "next to new" sale - hopefully!!
Betty that front sitting area!! if it is what I am thinking...moves all of the time...the little red table?? it is now over on the side closer to the citrus trees. little green and glass table is near the pond, with one of the rocking chairs. every time the lawn gets mowed, they get moved. And if the son feels like sitting some where else...it gets moved......
OH MY GOODNESS !!! those babies are just ADORABLE !!! thanks for sharing ^_^
how's your back today ??
Deb, hope you got some sleep, and as a person who likes tattoos, I can only say I hope you can grow to understand sons feelings in getting his......I know it can be hard for you to have a constant reminder, but maybe he feels it is "angel of gramma" there with him always giving hugs and watching over all of you ??? (((((((((((((((((( Deb )))))))))))))))))))
beautiful flowers Bev, I am very jealous....I had quite a few daylillies, and none of them came back this year???? :( no idea why???
Barb, safe travels and relay hugs for me!!!!
(((((((((((((Mary))))))))))))))) Mary my momma would say : "he is just a mere man ! what can one expect??" one of her favorite sayings LOL
and of course ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( Judy & Steve )))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
love and hugs, Thoughts and Prayers Always.......
Well, my puter is dead. I'll be going to Ca. in early Sept. for a doctor's visit and will be shopping for anew one then. Meanwhile, I won't be around much. But I want you to know that you are all in my prayers. I'm doing OK, getting some work done in spite of a week with no pain killers, minimal air conditioning, etc.
We had a big wind storm yesterday and some rain. Cooled things off a bit. But it's heating up again. I'm progressing gradually on the brownbagging of the walls and sealing of the concrete floor in the second bedroom. Sending lots of fabric home with Tony for his wife and other relatives. I'd hope we could work together but that didn't pan out so I'm sending things home for them to work on. I'll visit and offer a suggestion or two but won't be real involved.
Tony did a great job of raking up leaves yesterday and the wind started just as he left and dropped another bunch. I raked up some of them to keep it from being too frustrating for him.
Without puter to distract me, maybe I can get some more seeds started.
Thinking of all of you. I'll be back.
hugs, katie
who's puter are you using Katie? I'm afraid I would go "stir crazy" at home without one! Would have to take up sewing, baking, cooking and gardening - o WAIT - I'm already into those things...... lol - guess I would get my unfinished stuff/quilts done.......
Thunder, the area where the USA flag / patriotic theme was! think it was a bench sitting there, will have to go back and look at my photo's.
Katie, sorry to hear about the computer..never felt as lost as when mine was down and couldn't be near my dg friends. Am sure you will enjoy your trip..do you fly or can you drive? you are so lucky to have Tony. Know how you feel to have the extra help, Cathy is so kind to me, anything she sees needing done she jumps at it..tried to call her to thank her for cutting my grass yesterday but she's off roadrunning I guess! Sure makes life simpler......
Bev, looking at that area and trying to visualize where photo was taken..if you are on your deck looking straight ahead is it to the front left or more near the memorial garden?
lol you are too funny Susan!!
Katie I believe is using computer in an internet cafe..know when I was in Florida I would spend half the day in library..sooo pleased I not have ipad and get have access almost everywhere.
Betty that is the long strip garden in front of the garden shed out to the right of the deck.
Well Betty - with the impending (dare I say it?) Fall coming, I'm back to "nesting" and am now canning tomatoes, etc. Made some corn relish the other day, too. Doesn't make much per recipe (only 4 cups of corn..... so need to make another one!).
We're going tenting again next Friday/Saturday/returning Sunday, and going to meet up with Winston/Margriet and their little one, Joslyn. We camped next to each other last time, and made friends. Promise to take pictures next weekend! They're both dutch (Margriet was born in Holland).
Thanks Bev, it's so nice having visited some of dg friends homes to see when they are posting where they may have taken the photo..make me warm and fuzzie..lol
Susan, nesting is always good! That's the long weekend isn't it?? Corn relish sounds yummy..I should make a few doz. jars of mustard beens..we all love them!
Mary mentioned my talking of fall, our Canadian National Toronto Exhibition started today..that's a sure sign of fall, guess it would be like USA State Fairs..remember Pat Boone in State Fair..likely not, that was many moons ago..anyway, exhibition ends Labour Day, kids return to school and fall at doorsteps...already I'm seeing fall mums in all the stores, keep buying, then plant them in the garden..I've a couple already in bloom..hard to believe the come back year after year.
Have a few errands I would like to do but am wondering if I want to get caught up with weekend traffic heading north..might just do what I have to do in Midland over the weekend.
SOOOO what do you ladies have planned for the weekend..know what Barb is doing and with who lol , how about the rest of you?
5 more minutes and homeward bound!
we see fall mums here, too! OMGosh - you're right, Betty!
No, it's not the long weekend - Aug 26 to 28th...... I well remember tenting last Sept long w/e and I Don't want to live through That Cold again - got frost and think about waking up to That on a cold fall morning...... brrrrrrr NOT!!!!!
On my HALLS lol. Relaxed already!
Just gorgeous outside, might grab e-reader and go sit and enjoy!
Work is all done, bit of gardening to do but doesnt matter if it gets done this weekend..
If Barb and Norm can start their holidays with carefree attitude so can I. Lol
Might make a cucumber sandwich and do exactly that...
Susan m one week ahead, you are right, long weekend not till 1st weekend n September.
Gotcha, Betty lol j/k - I'd thought the long weekend was involved in my tenting trip too........
First weekend in Sept is long for us too - Labor Day!!!
Norm just left to go pick up supper. No more cooking until we get to Betty's.
All the dishes are clean and I even got paper hot cups for coffee in the morning!!!
NO more dirty dishes.....
One more sleep!!!
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Will you still be in Canada for the Long Weekend (it's Labour Day here, too)
Major excitedment! WooooHooo!
Lol Barb, sounds as though Norm is just as excited as you! Paper cups, shaking my head, would only take a minute to wash two cups..too funny!
Cathy just called and asked me what I had to do to prepare for my special company, not a d#*n thing, Barb & Norm said the'y take me as I am!
But, always a but, been pilling weeds in fire pit and the are dry to best I light a fire tonight as the are calling for rain the next 2 days
Ooops Greg is here for a visit
Oooh Debbie, excitement for you and yours?? Realized you are excited to meet up with barb and Norm..or could it be you've exciting news?
This message was edited Aug 19, 2011 6:18 PM
Barb & Norm...nothing here.
Drats Debbie, was hoping you had some great news befall you today. Did you manage to get any sleep today or were you on a cooking spree again? How did Nate do on his first day of work Debbie? You mentioned Izzy was well the other day??
Greg dropped in to see if I had anything I wanted done then off he went...Melanie is in Meaforf to pick up the boys and won't be home until late tomorrow or early Sunday so if Greg gets his chores done he'll have all weekend to play.
Nate did well at work, came home VERY tired. I think he is adjusted better here and sleeps thru the night instead of waking up in a strange place. He is working again tomorrow....but spending some time with his sister tonight and tomorrow morning. That is a good thing!
Izzy is fine, having flea issues....3 baths, flea bombed and tubes of flea meds, nothing helping her.
Touching to see that regardless of their home life they have such a strong bond! Got to give those young ones credit! I'm sure Nate will succeed at everything he takes on...You must be overwhelmed when you see him move forward!
Poor Izzy..Sailor is scratching all the time as well, not flees just dry skin I guess..they must have a shot of something don't they that will ease the itch..I bought benedryl and it helps somewhat
There is a pet shampoo for "hot spots". I am going to get some tomorrow. They can give a cortisone shot....but it is not recommended on older dogs, don't know if it would be more harm than good for Sailor.
Weather permitting tomrorow...I am taking couch apart, spraying cushions outside....and trying to get rid of more.
At least she isn't raw from knawing. I bought q shampoo for her but not easy to get her in the tub to wash!
Tried hard to stay up for night shift but can't fight it any longer!
Waving to all
Hello To All !
Not much going on here....quiet. DH took DSD to college today - about 3-4 hours away. DSD2 is headed to a friends and DS is out with friends. so just Belle and I....
Barb - I am SO Excited for everyone... Can't wait for you to pack me in that SUV tomorrow... LOL.... Katie - I cant stand computer problems so I def sympathize with you.
Thunder "Just a mere man"... Yes - maybe that is just it. just seems like it's one thing after another.
Susan... kick in the **s... LOL... yes - I agree and I do believe I achieved that.
Had a VERY nice beautiful bouquet of flowers delivered to the office today. He's not completely forgiven but at least he knows that he messed up.
Bev - Thank you for posting the beautiful Lee Pickles. I will look for it tomorrow. I am bringing DS to work then headed to the Fall plant sale put on by the Baton Rouge Recreation/Botanical gardens. I hope there will be Master Gardeners there so I can ask some questions. Like why did my dwarf gardenia just die ?
Then Mexican lunch with Friends then I am treating myself to a facial. LOL.... for my bday.
(((HUGS))) Judy, Dianne, Warren, Shirley, Bev, Deb... and all those facing difficulties.
I am thankful for all you friends who put up with my measly difficulties when there are those facing huge battles... but hey... venting on here Does help and I dont' know what I'd do without you my friends....
Pop back in a bit...
Mary
Good night Betty...sweet dreams!
Save travels tomorrow Barb and Norm and see you on Sunday at the sky tower!!!
Dianne hope to see you on Sunday too and for you and your DH I wish a restful night *big hugs*
Feel kinda lonely tonight...my DH is in the city for his "sleep study" for his snoring and I miss him...silly I know, but we haven't been apart in many years..not since he left the Army in 2000.
Wishing everyone sweet dreams and will keep you all in my prayers.
Love and Hugs
Thea
Bev, I have had many daylillies, for many years!! I have had them at every house I ever lived in, and moved some with me more than once.....had some of these ones for about 5 years !!! 90 % of them did not come back this year???? no clue why ???
it was a very cold winter, but that should not be a problem, as they grow much farther north where they get buried under much snow !!! I just don't know??? I kept thinking they will show up ...as many plants were late....but at this point I don't think so any more :( I still have bare spots, in areas usually totally covered by now with ground covers plants, syngonium sp? and purple queen..it was a crazy winter,so cold.... and a strange spring..too dry, then too hot, now we are getting soaking rains almost every day, but still very hot...
Betty I don't have a bench, and I have flags every where!!! so I am not sure where you are talking about, sorry...post a picture if you have one.
Thea - That's very understandable that you are not used to having your hubs away. Do they think he has Sleep apnea? or something?
Thunder - that is very strange... did ya'll have a lot of rains that would have rotted the bulbs? I would doubt that as we did not have a lot of rains early on....
I'm still hanging on... so I'll pop back in a bit.. but about to head to bed...
Hugs
Mary
Morning all, early morning at that..another sleepless night! Sure gives you an early start to the day though..
Mary, enjoy the bouquet, the facial and time with Belle! Things will change now for you, major drama has moved away,,just think , evenings of relaxations after work, not a care in the worl..lol. As if that could ever be you say?
Thunder will go in search of a photo for you..major problems with my Lily's as well,,l lost about 3/4 of them to lily bug that invaded our area last year..this year the remaining lili's were attached...saad because the were so pretty in my gardens. Not sure how long the infestation will last.. Will you replace them next year?
Thea, hope you didn't have a sleepless night and that results coming bck from test bring solutions..hear more and more of people having these tests. 2 more sleeps for you Thea. Lol. What kind of weather are they calling for on Sunday?
Barb and Norm, you'll soon be up and at it...I'm excited not only for the visit but the quality time, smiles, laughs you" Ll have together...drive safely..see you Monday...maybe the girls could post after your visit so we can be with you right at the beginning of your adventure.
We are wallking out the door NOW!!!!
Talk to you soon!
Hugs and love and prayers for alll
Barb
Been a long time planning and waiting.! Start of making memories
Good morning to all.
coffee is on.
Hi Laura, what is planned for you this weekend..any camping?
Waiting a tad for stores to open, seems the clock isn't moving..groceries, wood for Christmas projects for Bar and I, ok maybe Norm lol
Few odd and sods and would like to be home by noon.
Did manage in my early morning wake to paint the back boards of the staicase..would have done the tops but come winter they get slippery so just might stencil a lead here and there to make them look better..upper to of landing I'm waiting for Bernie to finish it with paneling and do tri..almost got it done a few months ago but he got a 4 month work contract..much better paying job for a brother. Lol
Ann and I were just saying, what is needed badly in our community is a task man who does little jobs, wouldn't make a fortune but would make a living..I've already got a list made just incase one put a 'for hire' sign out.
Am sure Greg would appreciate my findi g one..have to say he's great at helping though.
Blue sky, hard to believe they are calling for rain at some point today..I'll get the trimming done as soon as I'm home from town that way if it does rain m chores wil be done
Laura's coffee first..I'll pick up Timmy donuts for you late risers...
