Weather In Your Garden # 104

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Yet another man who sleeps through anything!

Very sunny here this morning and 74 with rain and storms predicted.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Was on a ~6 hr plane ride once, went to sleep. DW woke me up ½ hr before landing. She told me we hit severe turbulence, overhead compartments opening, trays falling down, people getting sick..., - glad I missed it !

75°, wind from the SW at 8 mph, H 84%, partly sunny

Going up to 83°, clouds increasing towards the afternoon with spotty T-storms predicted, more severe ones for tonight when we drop to 69°.

Thomaston, CT

Humid already, T-storms predicted.....yes, wish I could sleep through some of the storms we've been experiencing!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yeah nasty out there.. weeded for a few.. and quit

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Now 79 with 80% humidity but a strong 13 MPH wind/breeze. We'll see how long I can last.

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

"Yet another man who sleeps through anything!"

In my defense, I had taken a muscle relaxer shortly before we went to bed and we had the a/c going last night due to the humidity. Most of the time I hear it before my wonderful wife because I am closer to the open window. ☺☻

Had t-storms about 9:00 that were pretty strong here in WNY. Currently partly sunny but I hear some rumblings in the distance.

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

The rumblings just became severe thunderstorms. Such fun. The dogs and cats are a bit nervous.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

starting to hear rumbles now too

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I have no defense... (lol)

Wind picked up (~ 14mph), but still sunny & warm here, 79° with a real feel of 83°.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Made it for an hour and a half and I will go back out but it's not like I'm working in sun or digging. Sitting in the shade and cutting back daylilies as the breezes blow is quite nice.

Thomaston, CT

Another nasty T-storm here....another fire call on the road....and there's an inch of standing water in my veggie garden...that's a new one for me! Perfect for rice....

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

We just had a quick shower. 77 degrees out and the air much more clear of humidity. I think I'll go back outside. Better there than all the indoor sorting and cleaning even with ac. I don't think we've had as many of the big storms as elsewhere. I had to water my new echis this am.

South Hamilton, MA

Raining now. did you send it north?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

No rain here yet but it looks like it could happen at any time.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Light rain started here 15min ago. you have 45min pirl.. (lol!)

- Looks like they should have left the gravel road alone Robindog..

Thanks, WC - my own personal Weather Channel!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Heavy rains earlier today while I left the sunroof open in my car, had a 1/2" or water on the floor.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Ugh!!

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

Oh, no, debi_k! I hope you can dry it out.

We had several major storms but now the sun is shinning and it is a very refreshing 64 degrees in WNY. A/C is off, doors and windows are open. I looked for a rainbow and could not see one, but the sky has that golden glow often seen after storms.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

had t-storms overnight. They gave us 1/2" of rain. It's been nice today.

Thomaston, CT

Oh, no, Debi.....water in the car is not good! Yes, WC, I wish they hadn't paved the road, but this wasn't runoff....that's how much rain came down in just a few minutes.....a real cloudburst....the firemen had the road blocked off on the Plymouth end....think it was a lightning hit....all ledge up here.....

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh No Deb!! Hope it dries w/out any problems.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

- Glad to hear it wasn't runoff Robindog! that would have been a real problem when the soil freezes and cant absorb any more water!

- I have a sunroof also, I open it and then I wonder what would happen if a bee or spider came in while I was driving... then I close it again. - takes about 10 sec and I'm done playing with it for the week!

Hope you have a deep cleaning shampooer Debi! - and that the center console is not located under the sunroof!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

- Torrential rain w/ lightning here now.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Crazy storms, started earlier than expected so ruined our outdoor plans
Poured off and on all afternoon and evening....very loud thunder boomers
1.33"

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

we lost power for a few mins last night... but came back on quickly... 67 now going to 78.. should be a nice day!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

It's 66 and raining, has been since last night. Rain this morning, some sun this afternoon, high of 77.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

wonderful out there now!!.. nice breeze coming in the windows too

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

68° here, light breeze from the NW @ 3 mph, H 81%, cloudy

Going up to 82°, winds increasing to 16 mph. Should be dry with a mix of sun & clouds today.
Dropping down to 60° tonight under clear skies.

Got some nice rain last night, gave everything a good drink of water.
Didn't last long ~ 2hrs, but it didn't have to, it was a deluge!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

It wasn't too bad, I was able to soak most of it up with some fleece blankets I keep in there, and the seats are leather, so no soaking in.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thank goodness!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Good luck with the car, Deb.

Just a few hours of light rain last night - no storms, no lightning, ideal.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Very happy to hear that Debi!

Thomaston, CT

The house up the road did indeed get struck by lightning...this morning's paper said enough smoke & water damage forced the family to move in with relatives.....and yesterday's lightning strikes were nothing compared to last Thursday's! Today is sunny, cool, breezy....the man is coming soon to pump the septic tank......

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

oh dear

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

hate hearing that.. such a shame

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thats so sad, hope they had insurance.

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

Good morning.

Currently a nice, cool 59 degrees going up to the low-mid 70's with sunshine. Looks like no a/c today which is a good thing. Sorry to read of all the weather woes.

Have a blessed and marvelous Monday, friends. ☺

-Dave

South Hamilton, MA

70° & lower humidity. 2" of rain last night & we never heard it.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)
