Yep we got nothing....even with the storms that collided over Philly...everyone see that on the news??? that was crazy....

I could see the lightning show in the distance and thought we were going to get a big one tonight... but nothing...

Mid-Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5b)

It's raining again. Or, is that 'still' raining?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Thomaston, CT

I liked that word 'sun', Dave! Have not seen it since Sat. Very cloudy, but not currently raining....T-storms forecast for later today....

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Clouds mixed with sun at times but the rain and storms will arrive later and then the rain returns for an encore later in the week. Now 67, 82% H, breeze at 3 MPH.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

No sun here just clouds, we did get some rays in late yesterday afternoon but they're back in force now.

66°, wind from NNE @ 9 mph, H 82%, cloudy
A couple of showers likely today with a high of 76°. Dropping down to 64° tonight under partly cloudy skies.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

61 F degrees here and heavy cloud cover but the rain has ceased.

Since we passed the fatal car accident on the NJ Pike before the GW bridge on Sunday, we learned later that a young person changed lanes causing a Ford Explorer to roll over and hit a cement post, killing the driver. The youth who sped on was located through witness reports and charged. Since it was raining sometimes heavily at the time, weather had to be a factor.

South Hamilton, MA

If he was that erratic, it's a wonder that people caught his liscence #. good for them.

3" of rain yesterday. Sun trying to appear. Grass is very wet so keeping us away from the iris beds at the moment. Spent yesterday think what I would like to be doing outside. Managed to get nearly 200 iris seeds out of their pods so all was not lost.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh geez...wonder if they'll check his phone to see if he was texting at that time

raining this morning....

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

The high center of gravity and weight distribution of a Ford Explorer makes it more prone to loosing control at highway speeds on wet pavement if a sudden defensive maneuver is required. ( - in other words you have to drive it like a truck not an SUV).

It's prone to fishtailing because the rear wheels will slide out from under you sideways, a slight correction in the direction of the skid to regain control, instead swings the back wheels wheels violently in the other direction because of the weight distribution and inertia, then you either loose control and hit something or flip over which is very easy due to it's higher center of gravity. Seat belts are an absolute must or else you wont even be in the driver's seat when this happens. Flipping over is deadly because it doesn't have a built in roll bar either.

* I know this firsthand because I drove one for six years and have experienced this very un-cool phenomenon.

(ps. I now own a Jeep Cherokee. ☺)

68°, overcast

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

and of course most people driving SUVs don't know how to drive a truck

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

- Overall you have to keep your speed down more in a truck, - especially in bad weather. Avoid sudden maneuvers, be more conscientious of turns, dont take them for granted, sand/ oil/ water can throw you off easier than in an SUV. If you do have to make a sudden maneuver the lower speed will help you keep in control.

* Good advice in ANY vehicle for anyone, but with that type of truck you have to be much more conscientious since your maneuverability is limited by design.

Have been driving 4 wheelers since the 80's.....have not had a problem, thank God! Iris, that's a huge amount of iris seeds! Do you pot them all?

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I ♥ 4 wheel drives, but I won't drive an Explorer truck again. lol!!

76°

South Hamilton, MA

I tried to answer about the seeds, robindog. I will be sending them to the British Iris Society seed program. A source of income for them. DH & I are members as they publish an interesting yr.book.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

... probably something to do with that new security 'thingy' that, "should not affect us whatsoever", which they started yesterday.
(lol)

Thomaston, CT

Wow....that's quite a program, Lucy! Congrats....I've just been able to log on after trying several times an hour ago....
