New room everyone! Come and show is what's still blooming.
This was labled a pink peace rose, but all the searches I have found, says it should be all pink...
She's about to...62... Summer is here and it is HOT!!!!
Good morning LK, so good to start the day with a fresh view. Such a pretty rose.
Went to see "the girls" that live in the back yard this morning and bless pat, they are keeping the same company as their sisters in the front yard. They just don't get it! Them Spider Mites is bad company! Well, bet I fixed their little naked selves, I gave them a good dusting with that stinking Sevin-5 dust. that'll show them I mean business. Then had a short visit with the front yard girls and gave them another dusting too. Praise God, rain had given them a bath last night that had washed their dust off.
Love & Hugs to all you dear friends.
Beautiful butterflies! Hope those girls keep their dust on!
Faye I think I need to send you a respirator. I've been where you've been but with mealy bugs. Know the frustration of trying everything and nothing making any headway. Hang in there dear friend.
Neener, that is so pretty! Love the two tone colors!
that is a beautiful butterfly shot, faye.
love that hibiscus , too
that rose looks like double delight, which I had for four years, but dug it up and let sis in law adopt it.
lots of people are adopting my plants this fall, as I am starting over.
this dainty little plant turned nto a monster tree from an itty bitty seed. datura strmonium, lilac de fleur, smells heavenly. such a garden bed hog, now.
Debra, that is so pretty! Does it have seed pods???
Please? I would love to try them next year! Thanks so much! Four o clocks here are not blooming, guess it is too hot? About all I have blooming are the morning glories, my Bougainvillea and roses.
You girls have some pretty blooms. I have a few things blooming and I have
(fan fare please) ........................................................................................................
a plumeria getting ready to bloom, actually a couple of them! I am so excited............ I will try to take pics tonight, but by the time I water and get inside it is 9pm. ughhh!
I have cleaned out the garden room and I read where pest strips will kill mites. I am going to close up the room for a week or so and let the pest strip have at it. There is a warning label not to have it in a room where you will be for more than 4 hours. Since it is summer I don't use the garden room so that is not a problem. After about 10 days I will open the room back up for a good week before I return to using it. Then this fall when I move things back in, I think I will repeat the process. Bring everything in, water really well, close up the room and hang a pest strip, open back up in about 10 days. We will see what happens. Course I can't do that in the solar room it is attached to the house and is open to the living area so I guess I will scrub really well in there and hope I get them.
Spider mites are horrible this year and I know it is from the extremely hot temps.
LK my 4 o'clocks arent' opening either. They are budded but I don't see them open except for a little last week when it was cooler for a few days. Moonvine is still dropping buds and so are the hibiscus.
Happ be sure to post those plumie pics. Someone gave me a few cuttings about a month ago. One is doing well with lots of leaves, but the other is kind of iffy.
111 hree today, came home with a miraine, sister called , surgery is set for August 16th. I will be there for her for the first ten days after surgery.
Going to *try* to get as much in as I can until then. ( not in this heat with a migraine)
out of hundreds of zinnia sseds, this is one of the THREE blooming.
Beautiful zinnia Debra, will be saying prayers for your Sister! Hope your migraine is better soon! They are no fun!
Still enjoying all the pretty pictures. The few plants I have alive are just struggling. My beautiful palm just up and died the other day.. it was about 5 ft tall.. the leaves turned brown after opening up but everything just drooped one night. I don't know what happened.. it has been struggling. My mountain magic brug is still just two little leaves near the base.. everything else was dead so I had to cut it down. Not grown at all... just those two little leaves for 3 months! Nothing actaully grows it either stays the same or dies.
We are anxiously watching the weather and excited about the possibility of tropical storm Don bringing in some rain! It has now been 10 months since it has rained here. Our weather man just said on the news "Don is our friend .....You can come to West Texas and live here for a week!'...... we are so desperate for the rain.

Morning everyone. Just caught up on the thread and so many pretty blooms shared. And Susan, no one but you would have thought of capturing the beauty of a closing Glory. That to me is as pretty as any I've seen open.
Anyone who has 4'oclock and Zinnia seeds, please share with me. They are 2 plants that are faithful. Gosh, no rain for 10 months! Tammie if we had to face that disaster, we would not have water to drink let alone water plants. I pray you get rain soon.
Well so far my girls still have the dust on them and no more clothes on the floor. Hallelujah! I really think the ammonia & water did the trick. Thank you Crit for the suggestion of Windex. I have so many that buying ammonia and doing the mixing myself made the most cost sense.
Have a great day!
Love & hugs
Debra, my prayers and thoughts are with your sister. Wish we could all be physically with you and your sister, but you know we are all just a few secs away. I heard on the news last night that you hit 110! OMG that is horrible. We were over 100 but the humidity must of dropped or my body has given up because I watered way into the night and I didn't break out into a sweat, usually I am dripping. Speaking of dripping I am very careful about turning off the faucet.....well a neighbor came by, the phone rang, and yes I forgot to turn off the faucet.....ran from about 10pm to 6am! Course we are on a well....once again I am sooooo thankful our well is commercial size or I could be in deep trouble....dang I can't believe that. Usually I can hear water running when the house gets quiet but not last night.
On a brighter note here are the pics of my plumeria that is blooming! It has lots of buds. rvnsbrk my understanding is your plumeria has to have a branch to bloom like a brug, unless it is some special kind of cut I think? Mine is not very tall but has branched. It is probably only 3 or 4 feet tall. I have aquired several of them. I can tell you overwatering is a giant NO NO, cause they will rot. My first ones were just cuttings and you had to let the "heal" then I put them in black normal plastic pots and sit them in the driveway all summer where the heat to beat down on them, and I didn't lose a one. Then during the winter you have to be really careful not to overwater. I put 3 stalks in a metal pot and they are on the west side of my house and they seem happy as little larks. It is brighter than the pic, my camera has a tendency to bleach things out when the flash goes off and it was pretty late when I was taking these pics. I am so excited tho. I bought 5 more in another coop, 3 are graphs which look really strange, one is suppose to be red, and darn if I can remember the deal with the other....

Beautiful and exciting! Mine does not have a branch, so no blooms this year Thank Goodness? It would surely melt.
If I get any seeds this year, Faye, will surely save you some. ( 4 o clocks and zinnia)
it was 111 here in Derby yesterday, 3 degrees short of a record of 114 from 1936.
this is the 28th of 2010... big difference in todays view..
I bet your excited to have those plumies bloom! Do they smell good?
Debra, that is just too hot! We reached 103, but they said it felt like 110 with the humidity!
Uhhhhh, I didn't think to smell them but they are suppose to smell...rofl.
Boy I missed watering one of the brugs the night before and about 4 of the leaves just curled up and are crispy on the edges, never saw anything like it before.
Such a pretty bloom, happ, and can feel how proud you are.
Here's wishing your Sis only good thoughts, Debra. You two make a beautiful pair :) And are still making memories.
Thanks for the well wishes, she called me last night and in my migraine drugged fog I am pretty sure I heard August 16th. ( surgery date)
she was well informed of what to expect, staples across her chest, tubes on each side, bandages that are not to be removed. My job will be to smack her when she whines about her BM's not moving properly as I force her pain meds down her throat. ( She laffed as she told me this, I think that is what I heard)
108 here today, all brugs on suns path in afternoon are crispy, yellowed and fried. Brugs under pear tree are fine. Guess I will bring in the big ones for the time I am gone. Do you all think it is too hot to ship plants? I would love to send out the brugs I am uprooting, along with the Caladiums in the ground.
even tho I do have a young man who would water my stuff, Joe did say he would water while I am gone. I told him if I can get as much in as possible, and the rest gathered up around the two patios front and back, it would be easier for him, he said." I tried to tell you, hon, you have TOO MUCH."
The time I could be bringing in stuff, is when I have to work. Sat ams for the next two weeks is my schedule. Sunday ams I will be out at daybreak.
It is still pretty warm here. I would not take the chance to mail them. Sorry you have to move so many plants. You need a sprinkler system with a timer.
Debras I'm so sorry you have all this stress now. As for mailing plants, I don't think they would survive a trip here, it's just to hot!
Debra I buy the cheap kids swimming pools the hard plastic and put all my pots in it close to the house, then I mark a water line, dh knows exactly how much to water. Plus if it rains (we use to get that stuff) he knows how much in the pool he is lacking or not. I have 3 of the swimming pools, now that is not enough for all the pots, but at least for those that need care, then the really big pots he just knows to water until it comes out the bottom. Hope your headache went away.
You don't necessarily need a branch (most of the time yes) for a bloom but if your cutting came from a special part it will bloom. Don't ask me what special part because I don't know that much...rofl Takes forever for th inflow to open!
It has been horrible hot everywhere I think. We are suppose to get a break today but then 92 and extremely high humidity. I can handle the heat (the other day it was 100 but humidity low and it was nice) but that dang humidity is a killer! 92 temp but feels like is suppose to be over 100. whine whine. LOL
Ok found you all wondered why no chatting going :) HEHE
