Just playing about reading your prints. ^_^
Garden Photos #15
ready for mardi gras.. pretty cool
What a thought.
I have not seen my poppies do that either Jo. :(
Love the Nicotiana and Hibs. Meredith and the frog is adorable!!!!
Yup, thats what mine look like.
Memory, that's a first for me seeing a bloom on a snake plant, too. I've had one for several years and it hasn't bloomed for me yet.
Celeste, you're making me hungry with some of the names of your DL's. I love that MRS LONDON'S APRICOT TART. Yummy! And those SARABANDE, BARUTA and HACIENDA lilies are gorgeous! Do you have any extra of those? I could trade for a daylilies or ZSA ZSA or LOVELY GIRL orientals. Nice seedling you have. Isn't it exciting when your seedlings bloom for the first time? You never know what you're gonna get. Sometimes they are a disappointment.
Marilyn, love the agapanthus! Gorgeous!
That Ember Glow crocosmia is very pretty, Jo!
Meredith, it's been my experience that most people plant their DL's too close together. That includes myself. I often have to redo the beds once the clumps get bigger. I'm always moving things around, too, as I seem to end up with smaller ones being crowded out by too many taller ones around them. Always a work in progress. Cute froggy, btw.
I know all about the common milkweed problem. You're right, the roots do go down to China! I have a bed in front that I'm redoing that has common milkweed. Even with double digging I couldn't get all the roots out. They keep coming back to haunt me. Might have to get out the round up. I have a swamp milkweed called ICE BALLET that's white. I really like it, and they are well-behaved.
Jo, I rarely fertilize here, in fact mostly never. I guess I'm blessed with really fertile soil, as my plants look great in most of my gardens, though one this year that has been neglected is a little sad looking. No, a lot sad looking. I think it's more lack of water than anything else, though.
Allison, love your butterfly shots.
Karen
Impressive seed pods, even though they don't look as advertised. Maybe they do need more time. Send a pic to the company and ask about it.
Karen
Sorry Karen, the only one you listed i've had for a while is SARABANDE and I only have one. It has not been a great bublet producer. :(
Lol Victor now I get it! :)
Karen, I've tried spraying theIlkweed with roundup before and all's it does is make the plant look sickly for a year then the next year a nice helthy one shoots up from it roots! Maybe I didn't use the right one. I will let them grow anywhere except in my front walkway garden. they make it look so messy because they get huge. I just can't get rid of them. I dug up a weeping willow from an area and have been trying to dig out every one that pops up. They just keep regenerating!
Beautiful Robin!!! That first one 'Anastasia'?
Yes, it is, Pixie.....have no idea what the second one is....came from a mixed bag.....
Beautiful! My stargazers opened and they smell heavenly! They are banished to a spot where I can't really enjoy them though. Due to Beetle problems and sctually they seem to get boytris every year. Which then spreads toother lilies if I have them near any.
nice RD!!
Meredith, maybe you have to get the Round Up tough brush killer for the milkweeds.
I get that botritis every year on my lilies as well. I bought some fungicide called Bayer that is also a fertilizer, made for roses, but should work on the lilies, too. I have not put it on yet. Will get that done this weekend, along with spraying for the sawfly larvae on my hardy hibiscus.
Gorgeous lilies, Marilyn!
Karen
Here's a pic again of my late mother's unregistered one that I'm calling HELP ME RHONDA.
