Lots of pinks.....
Garden Photos #15
Weed, Jen!
I leaned toward aster... before I looked at comments Ingrid.. love the portulaca!!!.. love that pansy Jen!!
Wow Karen lots of Beauties! Your mom's daylilies are gorgeous! You should register them before the names aren't available! Thanks for the compliment on Joan, I think I need to move her, it is a little shady where she is and she seems saller than when I planted her! Actually I've noticed a few DL's don't look as good as when I first planted them. What do you think causes the to decide not to bloom one year? Example is Dorothy Lambert, she bloomed her heart out last year and isn't showing signs of even a single scape. She's in full sun and next to all my other DLs that are blooming really well.
Pixie love Cat Dancer!
Robin love the pink!
Jen cute pansies and your weigelia reminds me of mine named Rubidor which I moved last year and thought it had died, but it's shown signs of life! No blooms yet.
Nice DLs Karen! I like Blackberries and Cream a lot!
what a cutie
Thanks, guys!
Meredith, most of those names I've prefixed with Cranview, as my mother called her gardens Cranview Daylily Gardens, and I've chosen to keep that name. When you prefix it with a name no one else is using, then you can pick any name you want. Like the ones that begin with Siloam or Chicago or Mokan. As for your DL's that aren't blooming well this year but were going gangbusters last year, well I'm having the same thing happen here. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's just that the clumps need dividing or maybe they are in need of fertilizer. I'm bad at not fertilizing. And I've noticed this year that many of the DL's have scapes that are practically falling on the ground this year. Don't know what's up with that. Some do it every year, but I have ones that usually stay nice and straight that are falling down. Kinda disappointing.
Your friend's son is adorable, SOJ!
Karen
Awww, how cute....glad he's helping
Monarch...glad I left some Milkweed
Another reason to hate GMO crops
"The monarchs' numbers have been cut in half in recent years, some researchers say, and they put much of the blame on hardier farm crops here in the Midwest.
Monarchs lay their eggs on milkweed plants. But thanks to genetically modified corn and soybeans that withstand herbicides, farmers can now wipe out milkweed from their land without damaging their crops.
That means monarchs can no longer find milkweed on 100 million acres of farmland."

Jen, that's awful about the milkweeds getting wiped out in the midwest. I let plenty grow here for the monarchs.
