Weather in your garden # 101

South Hamilton, MA

88° Out early to church & I think that is it. No working in the garden. I think that I will probably end up in our room which as the air conditioner. Have a paper letter to work on.

Very hot, but to me acceptable. This morning went into the garden, 7ish came out and almost passed out. Jim was in the garage painting a truck and he said I almost ran into it.

Oh well - wear shorts, not a heavy T-shirt and Jeans.

It is now 90 but as we have a pretty cool house, I have managed to stay in the main part. My not last the day though.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Got out there in the heat this afternoon to dig up and replant (correctly) a bunch of my iris's that I had planted with the rhyzome underground. One of the best things about a DG RU is that you can learn so much from each other. Of course that's true here online as well, but being together allows us to assess problem situations and get good advice in person.

Lucy, I'm glad your house cooled off so you could come out of the bedroom. lol We do the same thing here when it gets too hot in the rest of the house. It doesn't happen often, but it sounds like that time may be on its way.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

very hot today. This is what I was doing.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

Very nice!
(... I would definitely wear a Clint Eastwood hat and a poncho while doing that) ☺

78°, H61%, temps dropping

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Today I hacked away at the thicket on my hill throughout the morning. Seems the heat is slowing progress but I am determined to turn the area into a garden. There are lots of unwanted shrubs such as rampant privet and burning bush to pull. Don't know why I'm in such a hurry-- if it's so hot and dry maybe all but the most drought tolerant plants should wait in their pots in the shade until it gets rainy in September.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh Jumper, im hot just seeing you in long sleeves and pants! But you look very dignified......lovely picture. ^_^

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

boots & helmet are killers as well.. pretty shot though.. did you have fun?

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

yes I had fun. Next time it's that hot I'm losing the jacket(if it's allowed)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I loved shows that allowed us to have short sleeve western shirts.. and waved our hat rule.. the ones that had a huge spectator count never did.. which was understandable.. it's part of the show

South Hamilton, MA

90° today. More tomorrow & we need to shop for grocers (morning) & I see asthma doc in the afternoon. sigh.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hot day today. Hit 90, but was not too humid.

Great day yesterday. We had a great time, as always. Was out until about 3. Did not get much sleep so I am pooped.

Mid-Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5b)

Wow, it was in the high 90s here yesterday, but the thermometer that's in the sun was over 100. I know that's a no-no, but since my body would be in the sun, isn't that the temp. that I'd be experiencing? Any way, didn't do it. DH waited until mid day to mow the lawn against my wishes and kept coming in to cool down. Sometimes he can be so stubborn.

The good news is the radish seeds my summer school kids lovingly put in the ground last week are up to wave their lovely heads at the kids today. Thank goodness. They just need to stay alive for two more weeks for the kids to observe and measure.

Today 75% chance of severe thunderstorms. I guess there's no such thing as rain anymore.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)
