more hostas, astilbe and hydrangea
Garden Blooms #10
so pretty Songs!!
That pink clem is stunning, the stream so serene and I love the tikki torches along the path.....must be spectacular @ night!
Thanks! The pictures are not the best technically but I was too lazy to get the tripod and do it right :)
That's okay, SOJ, they are still nice. Very pretty. Can't you get good shots without the tripod? I never use one, and I think most of my shots come out fine.
Karen
Interesting stream & planting. Great pink astilbe. The deer neglected the hosta?
It was dusk so the tripod would have helped, that's all. I don't usually use one either if the light is good. Yes, the deer passed by at least 20 hostas to get to the lilies!
I just realized I'm two threads behind! Oops!
ssh! Don't tell them that hostas taste good.
Beautiful, Christina!
SOJ, my friend just half buried the bars in the soil at the edge of the garden....it's a condo garden & small, but this is the first year her plants have not been eaten.....
Something that also works for deer is to put pet fur in little panty hose bags and hang them around the target area. We had a golden retriever and we would save his fur when we brushed him. In the early spring when the deer would come feed on our lilacs and apple trees, we never had any problems once we tried this. I can hear you laughing at this, Victor! But it sure worked for us.
Songs - your place is looking just beautiful! I love the stream and waterfall. I gotta have one at some point!!
Thanks, Louise. I have a neighbor with 2 goldens. Maybe she'd lend me some fur ;) I just realized this morning that the blasted deer also ate all the buds on a new daylily I just got this year. I have been so looking forward to the blooms and now there's nothing left! It's Frills and Thrills, second one on the link below.

Louise I'm no expert, but your daylily looks just like one that just opened a couple days ago here. MIne is Majestic Morning... It also reminds me of Lake Moran Sunset, but mine isn't blooming yet and the foliage on yours looks way healthier than my Lake Norman. I'll show you a pic of Majestic Morning
SOJ, I see. I need one at dusk, too. Slower shutter speed and hand holding the camera does make for unclear pics at that time. Sorry to hear that you'll miss out on Thrills And Frills blooming this year. Darn deer!!!!!! They ate all the buds off of hundreds of my DL's at the end of July about 3 years ago. I so wanted to cry, and I wanted to shoot and eat every deer in the area.
I've also had deer pass by many hostas and daylilies just to eat the buds of one stalk of 'Zsa Zsa' Asiatic lily. The others still had their buds intact. Maybe a coyote came by or something that startled the deer.
Meredith, that Majestic Morning DL is gorgeous! Love those colors.
Karen
We cross-posted. Love the colors on those roses and lilies, too. They all go together well.
Karen

Very pretty Meredith! I love that daylily and the rose is lovely!!
karen you Mom has some really nice DL, you should reg. them. :)
Allison, do you notice the smell more in the evening? That is what Auntie T always said...she would leave her livingroom window open at night and the smell would waft through the house as she was watching her TV shows. :)
The red & white begonia is beautiful, great shot!!! DL is 'Pandora's Box' I assume? it smells good too, very light and sweet.
crud.. posted in the wrong thread... UGH... I would agree with Auntie... evening & early morning seems the strongest..that is a red & white impatient believe it or not... yes that is Pirl's Pandora
Oh man I just realized there is a number 12 photo thread and I'm posting on 10! Woops
I just realized now that I posted on the wrong thread, too. I got caught up in this one. Oops! New thread is here, guys! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1195027/
Karen
Meredith, that rose is awesome! And your leaves are so healthy looking....mine went to black spot & bugs this year, even though I sprayed! Karen, those Dls just shine....and Allison, your lilies are beautiful....you conquered the beetle!
Very pretty, Meredith - on matter which thread they are on!
GE1836, what is the name of the lily in the foreground of your "pink lily" post? They look white, but I assume they are pale pink? Are they Algarve, by any chance?
TIA
LAS
Boy, Meredith, your Majestic Morning is also very close to our NOID. I'm not sure whether it is Fruit Loops or Majestic Morning. Both are very close to ours. No matter which one it is, I love them both! Sure wish you could make it to our RU! Thanks for posting your MM photo!
