Thanks Frank & Louise, she just finished day 2. She is in Waterville @ Colby College right now....only about 25 minutes from here. BUT, she said I can't go see her because I'll make her cry:( I have to wait until tomorrow....already started her chicken & dumplings for her victory meal. ^_^
Coffee Break #61 Summer is here!
Gee, I'd bike for that, too! Louise, can't believe you have evening grosbeaks...lucky, lucky!
we had rose breasted grosbeaks for a few weeks.. then they left.. someone gave me a gift today and I saw 4 oriels messing around in the garden along side the house.. not sure what they were after over there.. but I felt like someone gave me a wonderful birthday gift.. and of course I grabbed the camera and quietly went outside.. and they were gone
Pixie you're lucky with the chicken & dumplings. When 2nd DD ran the 2 mile in HS. if she brought her time down, it was out for lobster. I only had to get one dinner as I don't like the things.
teehee, Lucy! I used to be able to make really good chicken and dumplings, because my son loves them, but now my dumplings always flop.....guess it just goes with that general problem as I get old. lol Lucky Tarsha! Her Mom's don't flop yet!! :)
I lucked out only because Tarsha is having lobster on the 4th of July so she wants her 'comfort food' after this. ^_^
I forget exactly what road we were on today, when I spied a little offshoot road going underneath the bridge, so I put on the brakes and pulled in to the pullout. I didn't tell Jeff what we were doing. We walked down and around the culvert into one of the little canyons for some pictures. Also to stretch our legs. Well on the walk back I picked up a Piece of wood that had been washed down and also a 'red' rock. I figured that since it wasn't on nat'l or state park land it was up for grabs. I knew that wha would be proud of me. I actually would like to pick up more, but think Jeff wouldn't appreciate a van full of rocks. I started to pick one up and he said there was a smaller one. I told him I'd like one even bigger for the garden. He got the one I first picked up. Little does he know. Hehehehe.
This country is absolutely breathtaking. We have had the road pretty much to ourselves, cuz we take the scenic routes. This morning we saw one car on Rt 261 in Utah. It took us toward an escarpment and we were wondering where the road was going cuz it looked like we were headed directly at it. It ended up as a gravel road with many switchbacks that really took us up the side of it. Pretty amazing views if you didn't look directly down. No wonder there weren't any other cars.
Very cool, Jan love taking those less populated roads
Cool, Jan!
Keep going, Tarsha!
Pinch me - my MIL finally left tonight!! Hee hee. Five long weeks. Actually, it was like having a third kid around, only less mature. ^_^
can't wait to see pics Jan.. hope you have a wonderful time on your adventure .. and glad yours is over Victor

Congrats Victor! hee hee!
Thanks. I have been referring to today as Liberation Day!
That's wonderful.. have to mark it down on the calender so you can celebrate it next year! lol!
Already have!
U so bad!
Where does she live normally?
I take a rock/stone from every trip, no matter how big or small...even just a fetching pebble.
Hi Jan! Glad your have a good time, sounds wonderful and I hope your taking lots of pictures! I do the same thing with rocks....DH says we always get better gas milage going some place than we do coming home because of it. LOL
Congrats on your freedom Victor! LOL
I just want to say thank you to everyone for the encouragment for Tarsha. She was elated to have made it through day 2. This morning she will be starting out for the final stretch of this Trek. Tarsha and Mitch have raised over $2000 for the ALA and achieved a personal goal. They did this for Mitch's Mom....they found spots on her lungs in March, a few weeks later they confirmed it was cancer. Since Tarsha has grown out her hair and cut it off @ least 4 times already to donate to LOCKS FOR LOVE , they choose American Lung Association this time. I have a wonderful kid and am very proud of her. I've made alot of mistakes in my life, but I did SOMETHING right, she's proof!! LOL
You certainly did, Celeste. Tarsha is a treasure.
just sprayed the yard with this.. wow I hope the smell wears off before 3:00.. LOL.. heavy on the garlic

I'm so happy for Tarsha....not easy riding at that elevation! Allison, wrong day to spray! But you reminded to spray for the red devil beetles today!
your welcome.. and the spray died down by the time everyone got here.. and I was out most of the day... and not one bite!!!.. don't know how long it will last.. but boy that was worth the comfort for the day
Please post how it continues to work, Allison.
Tarsha made the trip , crossed the finish line and has a medal to prove it! LOL
She was exhausted, sunburned despite frequent applications of sunscreen and extremely hungry!!! 180 miles in 3 days....amazing.
Good for her. However I hurt just looking at the distance.
will do Victor.. the bottle says 3 - 4 weeks.. but I tried another kind that was granular in the front where the dogs don't go.. that one says 3 - 6 months.. which I find hard to believe
good for her Celeste!!!.. just amazing
Congrats to Tarsha!
My brother was here w/his GF who works in the mediacal field when Tarsha returned from her trek. Debbie, (bros GF)was asking Tarsha what meds she takes for her asthma. Thought she was going to fall off the chair when Tar started rattling of 4 differents medications plus an inhaler. She too was awed that this kid did it.
Thank you all, I will pass it on to her. ^_^
Hurray for Tarsha!
Yeah!!!! for Tarsha
Great job, Tarsha!
Temps today ranged from 38- 91
Elevations from 9900' - desert at whatever Los Vegas is.
Very tired.
That is some temp range!
I am not much of an activist but want to shed light on the new national campaign for drilling for natueral gas.
The "fracking process" is an abomination and there are small groups who are trying to stop this from happening in central New York State.
It shouldnt happen anywhere.

I was under the impression the issue was prettymuch died down.
Big money wins every time I guess.
This is an article about how awful the process is.

Guess it doesnt bother company execs if the effluance isnt poisoning their water supply.
Think pesticides and fertilizers are bad?
Nothing to compare to this.
