I sure see a lot of 'pizza' here but no mention of pizza on the grill. What's up with you Yankees! The best pizza I ever made was on a grill. Even store bought ones can be done on a grill. Easy as (pizza) pie........

... Confederate spies. (lol!!)

I definitely want to try that, I think it'll taste good, have to convince DW first! ☺

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

hello there Dug!!.. never tried that.. sounds good though

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Interesting.

Bardstown, KY(Zone 6a)

Just a good ole KY gardener!!!! Think about it, when you bake pizza you set the oven to 400 degrees or so pop it in until the top is nice and toasty. Same thing on a grill but if you use charcoal you get a little smkoy flavor added to it. Gas grills just make it taste better too. The truly great ones though are homemade pizza on the grill!!!

one of the things I love the bread maker for.. dough!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Mmmm, probably easy to get a nice crispy crust too, just a little burnt here and there on the bottom the way I like it! ( ... I got to get DW on board with that! lol!)

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Love the taste of brick oven or wood burning stove pizza. Maybe one day we'll try it

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

put some smoking chips in there!!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

our sunday paper had an insert with a recipe for pizza on the grill. Sounds interesting.
Tonight family picnic with the Lions Club.

I've done pizza on the grill before - little ones so each person could top it the way they liked, also last week did Mexican on the grill, burritos and quesadillas.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

guess my pizza stone could go on the grill

Never seen pizza done on the grill. Yeah - cheese burger with a glass of milk. Just my favorite meal - Not

Son invited me last summer to pizza on the grill....I didn't like it because I like a very thin, crispy crust.....we each rolled out our own dough, & mine looked thin, but it puffed up on the grill....burnt in some places, not cooked enough in others.....I'd like to try again, I just bought an electric grill, so maybe on there.....

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

think the stone would be better... one of the best things I ever bought

Thomaston, CT

Yeah, one of my friends has one, & she swears by it......

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

when I saw Bobby Flay make his on a grill.. directly.. he did one side of the dough.. flipped it loaded it up with the toppings and put it back on

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

That sounds perfect Allison, I figured it would take practice to get the dough just right, that's a good idea.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

try a flat bread recipe .. if you don't want it to rise

Bardstown, KY(Zone 6a)

Got you Yankees thinkin' didn't I !!!! Indirect but HOT is how you want it. Close the lid and let the heat do the work. Now for my southern fried chicken recipe, but only if you have a cast iron skillet!

Doug, not a Confederate spy!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee. The postman delivered!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Doug that is something I don't own yet.. not sure if I can use it with this goofy electric stove

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Ok Doug you can defect, lol!
- got plenty of cast Iron skillets!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I'll take a southern fried chicken recipe. When I was down in GA for my dad's funeral one of the ladies from their church asked if I needed anything, I said some fried chicken, she did not disappoint....MAN was that GOOD!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good, I'm sure, but probably not very healthy.

The rate its going nothing is going to be healthy. 1st it is then its not, again and again

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Yeah, you're right, some of those tasty, fatty recipes may not be so good for you.

Bardstown, KY(Zone 6a)

I think the some of the keys to GOOD fried chicken are:

Soak in salt water a few hours before fixing
dredge in buttermilk and flour
cooking slow without turning too often (turning too much causes the flour to fall off in chunks)
use a cast iron skillet because it radiates the heat unlike other metals which can cause hot spots

All this and I still can't make it like Mom!!!

Actually lately I have soaked the chicken in cheap Italian dressing before tossing in flour. The coating sticks to the chicken a lot better and the Italian dressing gives a different flavor. It's not true Southern Fried Chicken but it's still pretty darn good!!

Good tips, Doug. Thanks!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks Doug!

Will be trying out my new electric grill tonight with steak.......

Kabobs on the grill

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Totally messed up menu here, DW came down with a sore throat yesterday and a full blown cold today so it's Progresso Chicken soup for her and leftover sausage pizza for me. Tomorrow I'll cook her up a nice fresh pot of homemade chicken soup and maybe bbq some chicken pieces for myself..

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hope she feels better!
