Bulbine and Coreopsis trying to find a place in the sun...
JUNE Blooms
That is just gorgeous Cheryl.
It's my prettiest mess...
Love the bright cheery mess as you call it!! Good job.
Newtonsthirdlaw,
is your Bulbine a perennial?
I never seen it. It is beautiful.
How tall and wide does it get it? when does it bloom?
A tender perennial, should bloom all summer and they seem pretty easy to grow.

Plant is less than a foot, blooms are 14" tall or about that.
Beautiful Sheila and Cheryl!!
Beautiful, Stephanie! I think my Cal poppy plant is coming back. It is among the $1 wildflower mix I got at the Target dollar spot. It's so much fun to see new things blooming from that sprinkling of seeds. I got another wildflower mix (bigger bag, more than $1!) a couple of months ago. I'll sprinkle those on this fall/winter and see what happens!
DrThor, Stephanie and Anna...glad to see you both braving the heat, I got out and did a bit in the yard this morning. Sure wish we would have one of those cool rain showers camp for a couple days.
All I do to brave the heat is to snap the pics! LOL I go out early, early in the AM (like 6:30) and very, very late at night to water. We definitely need some rain!
I also go out at 6am !!! and inside at 7am !!! it is soooo hot !
Will this mean that August is going to be cooler?
bananna18, I am glad that your HOT PAPAYA coneflower came back. I think that is what I bought at NHG for my bday.
I am thinking to go back on saturday ... I am still dreaming of all of those coneflower varieties I saw last week ....
Also ,,,, Obedient plant ... OMG .... I planted a few in my back yard 4 yrs ago and worked so hard to remove them. The roots traveled 3" below the surface by 25' !!! I had this plantr all over !! OMG !!! how do you contain it?
I was out at 8am edging the lawn...hope the neighbors weren't sleeping! LOL!
Well, Sheila, they weren't sleeping for long! LOL!! My 2-neighbors-down have a lawn service that comes every other Thursday, and they arrive promptly at 7:15. Thank goodness they don't come on the weekend!

Drthor, I pulled up all my obedient plants the first summer I had them. I find them to be terribly invasive in irrigated beds. You need to actually dig up all the little roots and runners. It's time consuming but eventually you will get them under control.

Mine are still running amuck in one of the back beds. I also planted a small patch in the native bed in the front which I keep a close eye on. Willow aster made itself unwelcome this year by coming up in half the bed. Don't think it is out yet.
Well I ventured out in the backyard when I saw a pair of black swallowtails nectaring. I went ahead and walked around taking other pictures. Some I may not include, but there was a lot more blooming during the heat of the day than I expected.
First blooms from Cocosmia 'Lucifer' from ilovejesus (Sandy)...my old cat Tigger had to check out what I was doing.
Last one.....LOL! bet you thought I would never quit! Just a walk around the yard I feel I am so blessed from what others have gifted me at the swaps. My yard was pretty sad when we bought this house in '91. I joined DG and started going to swaps. It is sad that some friends no longer come or post, but we still remember them from the plants we have enjoyed along the years.
Texas Star Hibiscus from Josephine.

Wow Sheila wonderful pictures!!!
Cappucino is beautiful!
Thanks Jo and Cheryl! Catzgalore was by to pick up some plants and we walked out for a short time. All of the plants are wilted now.
Oh Josephine, my Standing Cypress topped out about 9 foot again this year! Not the same plant either. This one is seed that was spread over near the fence. I had two plants but the dogs thinned them for me.
I am very glad for you, I have some seedlings, but the squirrels are doing a job on them, we shall see if any of them survive.
I really need to get some of the Texas Star Hibiscus. I've never been able to get them to grow from seed for some reason.
Sheila, I'm glad you mentioned the Willowleaf Aster. Mine came back with a vengeance this year as well! I'm hoping my neighbor will want some for her new flower bed. Some just might end up there without her knowing it! LOL
