All red type, my favorite. These plants are a nice size, 12'' and needed no special treatment. I just sowed them into the bed this spring. My only regret is that I thinned them and got rid of most of them. They transplant very well too.

Very nice blooms, Cheryl! Did you ever figure out what your mystery plant was??

Arlington, TX

LOL, um yea...Coriopsis tinctoria, tall variety.

My echinacea tennesseensis 'Rocky Top' has started blooming. I winter sowed these in Feb, 2010 and nursed them all summer last year. They came back this spring and are loaded with buds.

I have SO been enjoying seeing all the beautiful and varied flowers growing in your gardens. I'll take some pics of mine tomorrow.
Drthor, quite the phallic sunflowers, hmmm?? :)
Skbryan, what is that first bloom? It looks like a pink flower in the middle of a caladium leaf. Beautiful and unusual.
What is cardon? Guess I'll look that up. Another unusual one...
Love the coreopsis and now I MUST get some daylilies! They have such beautiful colors and shapes. Love that Tiger Lily and all the others.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful gardens! Janet

Quote from newtonsthirdlaw :
Red dome blanket flower is sublime.

Yes! Was that from seed too?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Anna, remember when we went to see those at Pappy Elkins park? Well they have destroyed most of the wildflower area and put in a drill site, sooo sad.

Yes, winter sown.

Ugh! What a shame. That was such a lovely area!
Well, I might have to get in on that seed exchange next year.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Believe it or not, i found the picture of the two of us in the field of Blackeyed Susans and Monarda.
Remember that?

It was, but sadly that field doesn't have flowers any more, however, some of the wildflowers are coming back in spite of them planting bermuda grass in the area.

As did this one. I don't remember having this color in my garden last year and all my cosmos are reseeders from last year.

Is that the same as Raspberry Monarda? I got mine from Sheila and it's just starting to bloom.

I got some raspberry M from Sheila or you one year which is in a shadier area. I bought the "named" one in the pic. I can't compare because the conditions are different. Maybe they are the same.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

'Jacob Cline' at my house is dark red....all the pics above sure look like the 'rasberry wine' monarda. I forget who gave me the 'J Cline'. It is not as rampant as the
'rw'.

My first year for cosmos. Got a free pack of seeds and just sprinkled them on top of my pine bark nuggets and watered in. So lucky and happy they came up!!
