Plant Propagation part XXXVI based on my own experience

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Jnette, without seeing it I can not even guess what is wrong. Is it outside? Inside? in the sun? It needs sun and lots of water. If the leaves are curling, I have no clue what would do that. I use neems oil mix when they get any bugs. I am sorry to hear this one is dying too.
I think you should try growing something else.
Why are you having trouble getting my site up, Dave? What was wrong? I think they had a problem because I had no messages this morning at all. That is so unusual.
Spent the morning packing and shipping again. By noon I was done and home. Then tow truck came for my truck and I had to clean it out and some other people came to see some things for sale here at the farm . It has been a hectic morning. I just ate lunch and now I must get busy again.
Have a good day everyone. JB

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

My Aimee is inside near a Metal Halide light 14 hrs per day. I sprayed it with the mix of alcohol, neem oil and a tsp of soap and the rest is water. It just got worse.

Guess I could put it outside, but today is overcast and in the 60s. It probably wouldn't like that. Don't know what to do with it. The other one doesn't look so hot either. And I don't have them near each other. I give up.

If you look at your post here where you give the site, you have too many https etc. I tried a lot of different combinations but none worked until I just dropped them all and put in your name. Then the system put in what was needed and it worked.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Well I am still in Washington. We go home tomorrow afternoon.

Went to visit with Dee Stewart of Snow Peak Irises late Sunday and Monday in Lebanon, Oregon. She showed me around her fields and many acres and then she took me to another commercial grower and theirs were also beautiful. When you get all the different irises in many different rows, it is amazing how many variations there are.

I told her so I can tell you, she drives like a NASCAR driver. She has a lovely family and 4 beautiful cats and adorable dog. Big cats and beautiful fur. Her husband Cass is not used to a woman that will talk back to him so he was probably glad to see me go. But I was gentle.

JB, I looked at your cubit's site and it is great. Jnette, your house is probably to dry for the Aimee.

My bruised muscle, rib or whatever pain is gone. Went to bed with it, got up in the morning and it is gone. I can now bend over and pick up something off the ground. Shoulder is still a little tender and elbow looks like someone tried to cut it off but other than that, all is well. No more falls.

I have two new spiderworts. One is completely white and the other is white with a blue streak. Dee also gave me a bulb that has an adorable yellow flower. I will e-mail her and ask the name again.

I am going into Portland this afternoon. I want to go by some nurseries but I do not know if I have time.

I do not know where the fire is in Arizona but it looked like it was in the mountains. Have not been watching much TV. But no one from home has seed anything.

JB and Dave are busy selling plants. The rodie's, azaleas, and hydrangeas are in full bloom. So are the columbines. Many different colors but I still like the lavender/blue color.

Everyone take care and I will check in later. Sharon.

Caldwell, NJ(Zone 6a)

I recently had an ad for*Mike Mocgroarty landscaping Ideas". which asked for $37.00 to let you become a paid rooter for his Website. Has anyone had any experience with this website?

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

I THINK Dave might have.

Ok, I will put my Aimee outside Sharon. Maybe that is what she wants. My last one was doing good outside and as soon as I brought her in the house she died. Maybe you are right, but what do I do in the winter in that case?

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Jeanette: how do the roots look,... i know you are going to thing i am silly but how does the root ball smell? it sounds like a soil borne disease top growth is directly linked to the roots health. if they are black and stinck its a disease my guess would be one of the top 3 rhyzoctonia, phytopthera or pithium. also if you can gently pull on one of the roots and the outer casing cones off leaving a thin thread like part its diseased. you need to do a fungicide drench if you want to save it.

Arfitz: I joined Mikes BYGers group to sell and have another avenue of sales and a group for suport on some of the ins and outs of wholesale/retail in a bigger sized production. all in all I think I am into it for about $800 bucks and I am glad I spent the money. he did a so much down and monthly payment plant which made it easier. As far as a paid rooter I have not seen that. can you send me a link or forward an email to me? Pughbear7@hotmail.com
I am curious to see what this is. He is a great salesman and has a good system that gets people up and going the problem I have thought that some folks don't follow through with the hard times of set up and getting going, they think they can grow plants and make thousands of dollars in a season right off the bat. anyone who has been around a business of any kind knows it takes a few years to become an overnight success. Is this where he pays you so much a cutting delivered to him?
Please don't get me wrong Its a good system and has great info and a good cottage home based business but as Jb and Linda will agree it take a lot of hard work sweat and frustration to grow so many plants to sell and then the general public want it for next to nothing. The trick is to find a product you can sell to many people and produce regularly. It takes a good selection to do anything in great numbers as far as profit goes. Ok I will step off my soap box before I rattle on more about the ins and outs of propagating for profit.
Sorry about that. i do get a good head of stem built up at times.

Jb: I am glad you are making some great sales. i need to get my store open there. its good to have as many streams of income as possible. and follow through is important.

Sharon have a safe trip. I may not be on tomorrow as i want to work on my cube and get a few bugs ironed out in the nursery. Its always something. I will get the next revision of the thread going though.

have a gret evening
Dave

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Ok, I will smell the roots tomorrow Dave. I kind of hate to pull her out of the pot tho. Is there a way to do it without disrupting her roots? She is in such a sad state now that I don't want to make it worse.

LOL, at first I thought you were talking about my hair Dave. I don't do anything to my roots other than wash them. Thank you so much for asking tho.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

My husband bought a well pump booster so maybe I will have better success with my seedlings. Most of the time they sprout and then when I put them directly in the garden they don't get enough water and die or I plant them in pots in the crowded area where I have water pressure but they need more water than a lot of my other established stuff. I am not having any luck with my seedlings this year at all. grr!

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Sharon didn't your mother ever tell you it is not polite to smack a hostesses' husband? Very rude!! LOL, why were you in such a postion?

Sounds like you had a nice visit with her anyway. Hope you had your seatbelt on.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Dawn, some years are like that!! Last year was one like it for tomatoes for most of us.

Edited to add, Dave, I think you need to start a new thead. Some people are still on dial up.

Amanda ~ D-mail me with your address and I will send you some of those plants, OK?I just gave away about 100 of them. I think I have more, though.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

O my goodness Thank you! :)

Dmailing your way - also willing to send postage unless you have some bulk shipping permit. ;)

Evelyn - it's been a long day, but you just made mine.

Have a good night all.

Quote from rjuddharrison :

The gerbera daisy seem to be rather picky. I bought this one grown about 6 years ago at home depot. Some years, it barely puts out a leaf, other years it seems happy. It's hot and dry, which they like. I believe they are from South Africa, where they are hot and dry!

rj ~ I lost all but one gerbera and that one is in the house under lights. The rest were a waste of money! I won't buy them again before July, and then what would be the point. I think I will try to keep the one that is alive and doing well. I keep it on the dry side and warm. The ones in the basement are gone - dead! GRRR!!

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Dawn, what do my animals have to do with the conversation? You threw me.

Quote from JBerger :
I may save the Cubits until winter when the selling is slow and I have time to play around.
I am not patient enough and if I can not find out how to sell it how can people find how to buy? What the Heck. I must agree with you jen, it is all I can do with this and eBay. back later. JB

My, my....do you have an appetite for eating your words?? (Heh, heh...LOL!!)

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

Sorry, Jeanette, we cross-posted.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Gerberas suffer here from the humidity and often suffer from powdery mildew. I tell people frankly if they want something to bloom continuously they should either (1) buy something else or (2) buy gerberas in multiples because most of the time between flushes of bloom they look like heads of lettuce. :D

I have been told I make a lousy sales person because I usually lose the sale. That's okay - I'm third party to retail store so it's nothing out of my pocket. I think people are more apt to buy more plants in the long run if they are successful the first time.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

We;;, you have all come alive all of a sudden. I got up at 4:30 this morning to go to the bathroom and Barney was up and dry heaving. I gave him some compound in his ear and ten minutes later he was sound asleep and this morning he is perfect. The heat is coming so I am trying to complete the outside stuff before I run inside and play games on the computer or make sleepy hut covers.
Evelyn, I sure agree with you. I had all intentions of not doing a thing on cubits because I just did not have the time. This past weekend I decided to visit a few friends and when I did I mentioned my fear of not being able to do things properly and really screwing up because of my lack of knowledge of the internet terminology they give you to work with. In a matter of minutes I had private emails from at least three people offering help and instructions. I love a challenge.
So, I thought I would give it a try.........never in a million years did I except to keep at it for three days and finish it by the time we did. Plus getting orders already. I have never met a more loving and helpful group of people in ages as those on cubits. I realize most of them followed Dave when he left, as I did, but I did not understand or even think I could understand the structure of Cubits.I never became active but did keep in touch. It is a bit more difficult to get used to but there is one cubit that the purpose is just for that reason. To help new people. It is one of the ads on my store. When I got to a point I was so frustrated and ready to say to Heck with it, along came my angel, Zany, who is a webmaster I think, but she does everything and what she can not teach you to do she does for you. for FREE. What a blessing she is. I still have a problem as I do here on this site figuring out a Forum from a Thread. Sometimes I think I am just down right dumb. LOL
It is funny, I never knew if there was a division between the people over there and the people here. I did not want to leave here and still do not, but I do want to be part of both places because I find the people in both places just wonderful, caring, helpful people and I have learned so much from DG and hopefully that will happen to cubits. There is plenty of room out there for everyone and when you find what you need it is really a great feeling. I am eating my words big time Evelyn. Not having known the reasons for the split or any of the background, I have no grudges or anger. I know I was disappointed to see the split but there had to be a good reason, and the two places are so different.

One funny thing I got has a result of those three days, was my left leg muscle is so sore from sitting in one position for hours on end. I can hardly walk at times and it is so painful, but today it is a bit better, but no long walks today for sure. LOL I think Barney was just as happy with a short walk because it is really hot.

Jen, you never spray a gardenia and then sit it back in the light, it will burn the leaves. I found that out the hard way. Can you send me a picture ?. I will try and help you figure out the problem but I must see what is happening. Did those leaves fall off before you sprayed? You never spray when the temp is below 40 or above 80. You spray from the top downward as well as the bottom under the plant upward.............. there are other insecticides that Top Tropical uses and they alternate because Gardenias just draw whitefly, aphids, some scale insects and spider mites. I did some research last night and there is one problem gardenias are very susceptible to nemotodes, which are worm-like microscopic organisms which attack the roots of the plant. Nematodes are so common in the soil in the South that only gardenias that have been grafted on a special root stock are recommended.
Depending on the size of the container, the size of the plant and conditions where the container is placed, watering could vary from twice a week to once every other week.
They will require more water when actively growing than in the winter. They should never be allowed to get "dry". But , then again they can be killed by over watering. When your leaves are nice and green and shiny, it is happy. Some yellow leaves will normally appear and drop, I had one plant that had almost no leaves and buds all over. I have no idea that happened. It was with all the others, I do think I may have sprayed it too much and it got too much sun after I sprayed.
Also I am not a great fertilizer, and plants in the ground should be fertilized in January, June and Sept. with an acid type fertilizer. at least one fertilization should include minor elements. Plants in containers should usually be fertilized more oftern as less fertilizer can be applied at that time. I only fertilize in June and Sept.
Sooty mold is another common problem. It is a foliage disease that turns the leaves of the gardenia black. That prevents the sunlight from getting to the plant via the leaves. You treat it like aphids. it will not kill the plant but it will stunt the growth. Cool damp conditions help create the right environment for the insects.
I can not be sure what is happening with yours. This is the second time this happened isn't it? I am sure you already know all of the above, and I am so sorry. I wish I lived closer I would pick her up and make her better if I could. Please try and send a picture if you can.
Sorry this is so long, but I want Jen to have her Aimee well again.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Gosh, as I read thru your instructions, it seems like my answer to all of them were yes, I did that. Yes, it has bright shiny leaves. It was even getting new leaves where old ones fell off and then the new ones fell off. I try not to overwater. Only thing left is to take it out of the pot and check the roots like you and Dave both suggest. I will do that today.

Am so glad you are now happy with Cubits JB. But please don't trade them for us. We all are kind of nice too.

So glad Barney is better. Nothing like a good sleep to cure what ails you. It is truly weird how our ears can make such a difference in other ailments.

Pawleys Island, SC

Hi Everyone,
I had big plans to get out and work this morning, but I slept late and it isn't going to happen. It is into the 90's already and I just can't handle the heat along with the bug spray. It just makes my blood boil. I will go out around 6 or 7 tonight and work till it gets dark.
JB, I was online last night and found several different sites similar to ebay, to sell your plants and such. I am looking for more outlets myself.
I have decided not to go to work, but to work for myself. Growing is the only thing I have really ever wanted to do and it won't happen if I continue to give in and go work for others. I just have to be more diligent and disciplined. ( Oh man, do I have to? said in a whiny childlike voice!)
Can you tell me how to get rid of the sooty mold? some of my gardenias and camellias have it.

My gerberas here love to live in containers. If I put them in the ground, they die and for the 1st 10 years if 1 managed to bloom, a squirrel would relieve the little plant of it's flower. Then I put two in containers and the animals have left them alone, 1 is clemson orange which I love and the other is a gorgeous pink that looks as if it is put together with toothpicks.

Sharon, I am happy your pain is gone. The trip to the iris gardens sounds wonderful! Sharon, let me know when you get home and I will mail your plants right out.

Dawn, I love that flower. Is it a dianthus or rose campion? either way it is gorgeous.

Jnette, your seeds are on their way today. I wish I had some suggestions for germinating them, but these are all new for me.

New gold lantana are in the propagator and today I plan to start some other varieties as well.

gotta go get started. If not I will sit all day and do nothing.
Sea ya,
Linda

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Well, I am up and getting packed to head home. Been a wonderful visit but I am ready to be home.

JB, there was quite a big thing when DG's parent company got rid of Dave. Big business thing but some people took it personally. I did not get involved and I do go to cubits regularly but there are only so many hours in the day I can spend on the computer.

Jnette, I am just a pushy woman. Have been since I was 6. Dee's husband is of the old school that MEN rule. I did not knock him down. I just commented on how happy he should be because the worker was riding the lawn mower and cleaning all the large fields. That way he could sit back with his cup of coffee and enjoy the scenery. But I got "The Look". I was a visitor so I did not deck him. LOL.

Amanda, I am so sorry about your hurt hand. I do the same in plant areas. I tell people, those are sucker plants and have been forced to bloom and will stop blooming in a matter of weeks. Or I tell them, those plants do not grow here. I love when they bring in all the pots of tulips into the nurseries in full bloom.

Dawn I hope your well booster helps. That is why I had irrigation rehab because of pressure that was caused by being smashed by very large tree roots.

I need to get a move on. I will check in later, from home, I hope. Sharon.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Cross post. Linda, have a great day, I will be home tonight.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Holy Cow, I never even thought of leaving DG. Jen you know better than that. NO WAY.
I am hoping I can do both. Cubits is great but it is hard to keep up with everything that is going on and I still get lost. I am home here for sure. Plant Scout has been very good to me and worth the $100. I just needed other outlets for different people. I felt sure not too many who use DG to purchase also use Cubits, besides, Cubits has very few stores set up I noticed. If they have more, I can not find them. They also sell other things than plants that I sell.

Do not distrub those roots of your Aimee too much Jen. Maybe it is pot bound already. I doubt you have mold. I think it needs some iron, real sunshine and do you have water softner water or good spring water. You know water is a killer depending on what is in it.
I feel sure it is nothing serious and it will be o.k. Just be sure since it is outside it is not in the sun all day. The hot sun will burn the leaves. They like morning sun and a few hours of afternoon sun.

Linda, I only know that the Sooty mold thrives on the honey dew created by gardenia bugs like aphids. If you control the aphids, you will also be able to control the sooty mold. Buy lady bugs. Usually that mold only comes when the gardenias are outside planted in the gardens...........at least that is what I think the book says..........sorry, senior moment.
It keeps talking about garden insects and never mentions houseplants or potted plants.

Back to watering. My Aimees are out there in the 90 deg. heat and the one put out about a dozen yellow leaves overnight because I left it get too dry. They are such pains in the butt, but I love them. Later, JB

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Well Sharon, how old is Dee's husband? Maybe he has a disability. And don't tell me he doesn't. I really get P.O.ed when people say they see others perfectly capable, using the disabled parking slots. How the H*** do they know the people are perfectly capable? They are not their doctors, etc.

Anyway, sounds like you had a good trip and it is always nice to be home. I always said that was the best part of any trip. Getting home and appreciating the comfort of your own nest. LOL

Linda, I don't wish for 90 degrees, but I would love to have 15 of yours and we would both be happy. Our high today is suppose to be 61. I love your idea of a job. Growing. Do you have enough room and facility to make enough money that you would be happy with? I think that would be wonderful.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

We crossposted JB. I am glad you are not trading us for Cubits. I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't have someone to harangue. Sharon is good for one or two a week or month. LOL Gotcha Sharon.

My water is well water JB. We love it, but haven't had it tested in years. Since we moved in in fact. We got a report when we bought it and that was that. It is deep enough that we should not be affected by deer etc. pee. I have tried to find iron chelates JB, unsuccessfully. What else has iron it besides one of the old nails. LOL, that is what they used to use. Don't get nails like that anymore.

Sun? Sun? Where? Quick tell me and I will put the plant there. That is why I put it under the Metal Halide light. Not real close.

I thought if you were thinking it might have nematodes and Dave thought maybe the roots had a disease, that I had better take a look. I have it in a 6 inch plastic pot. No? Then what?

Well, gotta get busy. ttyal,

mulege, Mexico

I know what Dawn meant about missing the animals. I miss my dogs. I also had nicotania that looked close to blooming and I'm hoping they will be when I get home in ten days or so. I miss Tony, too. He's always so calm, or at least appears that way. My resident ghuru.

Have postponed my visit to my friend in Exeter. It was one too many things to try to do. I'm still recuperating from Sat in TJ but slept well last night - finally - and that always helps.

I've found a bunch of good stuff at the Goodwill store here, including a like-new pair of shoes for Tony's son Antonio for after his foot surgery. Good shoes at any price are hard to get in Mexico so I look for them here.

Noisy here at Mail Max. I'll see you all later.

hugs, katie

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Jen, years ago when I started growing jasmine, one thing jasmine are famous for, their leaves turning yellow especially in the winter. They look like H. and loose leaves, etc.
Someone told me to by liquid iron because house plants seem to like it. I found one that is called ferti-lome Liquid Iron. www.fertilome.com
It has Chelated copper, chelated iron, , Chelated Manganesse and cheleted zink. I Mix 1/2 tsp per quart of water. And depending on the size plant it tells you how much. My big jasmine I give the whole quart, little houseplants I just spray on or I give a cup, depending on the plant. It works like magic. In days you can see the change. I just bought a big bottle on eBay not too long ago. It is not expensive and lasts forever. The jasmine cuttings that were all yellow this winter that I thought were gone, I put iron on them for about two weeks every couple of days and they are beautiful and they are even blooming. It is certainly worth the effort. I honestly think that is all she needs plus some sun.
Just gave Missy and Barney a treat and I had some iced tea, so I must go out again and water the pots.
One other thing Aimees love is high humidity. Maybe your climate is just not what they like. It is also difficult to keep a house humidity high. I have so many plants inside the humidity in the house is good., now with the AC on it will see a different. You could water her and put a big clear plastic bag over her and see if she picks up or place her pot on a tray of pebbles................................................................. with water or Mist her frequently
which is what I do to the ones I have inside now. Hope this all helps. The fact her leaves are curling and dropping that makes me think the humidity is the problem. Increasing humidity helps tropical plants survive stress. If you over fertilized it, then that is another issue I can address if you think that is possible.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

I just took some pictures of her. I see now that the curled ones look chewed on. Please note the brown on the leaves, and the 2 laying on the soil. One good and one turning brown.

I just popped on here for a few minutes since I had to acknowledge the receipt of an order of callas. You have all been quite busy, and sorry I don't have that much time to chat right now. The weather is nice for a change and there are plants and weeds that require quite a bit of my attention.

JB ~ I know you have no intention of leaving us. Especially Jeanette! :-) I wish you success in wherever you go. Only you know what you need for your business and how much you can handle.

I'll be back later or tomorrow.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Jen, it looks like it either got too cold or over fertilized. It looks like it is going dormant.
What have you fed it, if anything?

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

I think I gave it some of Dave's nutrients. LOL, DAVE!! Help, JB is going to kill us both! They are Humic Acid, a Kelp Blend, and Mychorrizae. 1/8 tsp of each to a gallon and a half of water.

What one of those didn't it like?

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

I would remove the soil, wash the roots, repot it in clean good miracle grow potting soil and give it some water and see what happens. Do not fertilize tropicals with anything unless you look up and see what they tolerate and need. Definitely get some of the ferti-lome liquid iron and regular Miracle grow liquid fertilizer for when the potting soil fertilizer is no longer good you can give it a small shot. Do not keep it in the sun while it is sick.If you have it outside be sure it gets some shade. If you think removing all the old soil would harm the root system, then just let warm water run through the soil until it washes away the fertilizer you used. maybe 10 or 20 minutes. If it was not deadly poisoned by the fertilizer it should recover in a few weeks or even months.
Nursery stock and outside garden plants are different when it comes to what they need. They are in the soil outside and that usually is not as rich as potting soil.
The potting soil I send plants out in already has the miracle grow soil and feed in it. That is why it costs me more to prepare these for sale. I know the normal plant buyer usually does not get into the mixing soil and fertilizers and I want the plants to be taken care of until they mature. What I send them in usually is good for six months at the most. Then the normal person would go buy another bag of miracle grow. I try and outguess the buyers. In your case I never gave it a thought you would feed it something without asking. Dumb Jenette.

I have to get out in the greenhouse before the 100 deg. arrives. It is only 85 now. Later. JB

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

And here I thought I was treating it to a good meal. So, JB, why wouldn't they like nutrients? I never considered them like fertilizers. Why would they, especially just a little bit like that hurt them?

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Jen,
How the hell do I know. I did not make the plant rules. I just know what mine like. the liquid iron has Manganese and zink in and they like that but I seldom give anything that I have to mix and match. I usually screw it up and kill the plants. Looks like you do too. HA!

I am one miserable old woman..........just spent one hour in the GH in 98 deg. temp because i just had to get some cuttings in the soil, transplant some tropicals that were pot bound and I am so warm. I am going to cool down and go to the WaWa, get some orange juice and a coke and get back here and not go out again until the storms cool us down. This is 18 deg. warmer than our usual month of June temperatures. This is our second week of 9o deg. temps this month. I have not been able to work outside ofrin the GH for two days, except to water yesterday. Things need to be done and frustration is now turning to furious behavior. God and I said I would not bout the weather because I loved Spring. But, someone forgot to give us Spring and we went right from Winter to Summer. I can not do this. I might just hurt someone if this continues because I am getting more angry and nasty by the minute. Watch what you say to me. I am warning you ahead of time. I need to change attitudes.

Eiither I change attitude or I sleep in the day and put a light in the GH to work in when it cools down. But, I have been leaving all the doors and windows and top vents open at night because it is so warm it really does not cool down too much. The shade cloth is on but the sun is dreadfully hot. Oh well. Nothing I can do about it so I may as well stop it now and think about happy things. Later. Jb

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Good morning everyone:
I treat all my plants the same. an indoor tropical will not be growing like it would in its natural setting. I don't think the micro nutrients/ michorhyza would do so much harm. with that being said It is growing at a slower rate and does not have the same needs like the outside plants.
When i was in florida I grew jasmines in full sun and 3 gallon pots by the 100's and they were heavy feeders.

Now we all need to know that fertilizer's and nutrients turn to salts when dry and we all know what salt does to roots. I will defer to JB as she knows her aimiees inside out and backwards and she has it down to a science.

evelyn what is that silver plant i like its look. is it hardy? whats its name where do I find it?
I will be starting a new thread in a few moments.
