Love that name - Spanky.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

You would!

She wont eat out of her bowl, my hand or platter. So tried paper plates. I put it on a paper plate and moved it towards her and she was going through the motions of eating all around the plate but off the floor.

So for 3 days now she eats off the floor. Jim says he thinks shes having a vision problem. I hate to say it but this is getting old.

I think Jim may be right....watch her on steps, does she tilt her head at an angle when going down? Tia did as she started loosing her sight, later on she walked into walls. :(

& she can't tell you what is wrong. A deep shame.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Allison and Sherrie, sorry to hear about your doggy problems. I hope things get better for the both of you.

Jerry chewed up one of my slippers and one of my niece's flip flops. We have to hide those and shoes now. I need a new pair of slippers.

thanks Karen.. good news though... Jily seems to be getting around just fine!!.. only gave her the meds that first day.. sooo glad that back leg is ok

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Glad to hear Jily's leg is doing well. I just started Jerry on an antibiotic for a rash on his belly. The vet told me what it was, but I forget now. It's basically a staph infection, and something common in puppies. I dropped off his stool sample today, too, so between that and the antibiotics, I spent another $88.

I scheduled an appointment and entered a sweepstakes for the Invisible Fence. Jerry is too good at ignoring us when he is out in the woods looking for critters. I think the cost of installing a fence like that is about $1200 for an acre. Anyhow, I'm hoping I win, or barring that, perhaps they will let us finance. We could do it in Hope's name, as my credit is bad. Otherwise we'll have to save up our money for that. I'm getting tired of keep an eye on Jerry when I'm doing my gardening, and he hates being tied up, even though the tie out gives him plenty of room to roam.

Patches got a chipmunk the other day, so she has taught Jerry the fine art of critter catching.

:)

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Pretty funny and I bet she had a good time making the video

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Is that girl for real? OMG, she loves cats, don't you think. She's on her way to becoming a cat hoarder. Wow.

Karen

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I think she's goofing

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Okay, I looked up info on that rash that Jerry has. It's basically a staph infection and common in puppies. Apparently is not contagious to humans. Hopefully will not be contagious to Patches either. The antibiotics should clear it up. At least it doesn't seem to be itching him.

Yep, she's goofing.

Not a single individual w/ an MBA would do that....it's a gag, for friends, or a satire, or a Broadway audition.

I was taken in until the bow ties and rainbow stuff.

I was in the garden putting sawdust down. Next I heard a piece of metal drop. Look up and I see Mr. G running and shaking his head, I thought it was a ground hog. I got up and started running and heard a cat scream. I got him to stop and next Xena takes over. I am a tad shook up. The end.

Not sure I understand the scenario, but I hope all is well in the end !

It was a stray cat living in and under stuff in the yard. My dogs have never been taught to attack other animals. I have seen cat/dog fights but not this bad. I did not like what I saw. I cant hurt the dogs as instinct could of kicked in? The cat has been buried.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

oh NO!!!! Well dogs were just protecting their turf.

Yes - their yard, their home and possibly their mommy. Good way to look at it now.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh, how awful. Poor cat.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

How awful, Sherrie. My dogs will kill any critters that come around that they can get ahold of. At least Patches will, and now that she showed Jerry how it's done, he may do it too one day. I don't know if they'd go after a cat, though. I think it would be too intimidating for them.

Karen

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I always worry about the small dog up the street that they always let loose... if he ever came into our yard I am guessing he would find the same outcome with these guys ganging up on him.. if I am out watering and see him I usually spray him with the hose.. and try to make it not worth coming here.. even though I feel bad about doing it

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

So sorry Sherrie, that must of been very upsetting! Your pups were only protecting you and their territory.

Thomaston, CT

Had that happen last year with the pointer, who usually loves everybody & everything....this cat had to climb over a 5' fence to get into yard...it did manage to escape, but not before Suey shook it like a rat.......Robs just watched....my other dales killed everything that came into the yard, including my very long garden snake....they were passing it around like a squeaky toy....when I screamed they looked at me like I was crazy.....

Shaking it like it was a toy. This picture is burnt into my brain, or at least for a while. If I knew the cat was living in the yard as I persumed it was I prefered it got an adopted home. That is what I would of like to have seen. Did not sleep good last, it was relentless as it is eating at me. At least now I know I am not alone. I am a tough cookie but never saw anything live like that.. :-(

Thomaston, CT

Yep...know exactly how you feel......

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Allison, you shouldn't feel sorry about spraying that dog with hose. It's a good deterrent as long as it works. It doesn't hurt him.

That's a tough thing to see, Sherrie.

Karen

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

it does work... he usually runs off whenever he sees me now.. LOL

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

LOL! You do what ya gotta do to protect your pups. As long as it's not hurting the other dog, you are certainly in your right to do that.

Karen

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

he is a nice dog with bad owners... would never hurt him

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Anyone else's dogs blowing their coats?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Weren't they spayed or neutered??

Thomaston, CT

My pointer sheds her coat 24/7...the airedale has to be clipped......like that a whole lot better!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yorkies don't shed!!!... but they did get groomed short today

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)
