I've had it with the rain and gray skies. Cloudy and possible showers...grrr!
Weather in Your Garden # 96
57°, slight breeze from the Southeast at 3 mph, cloudy
Going up to 62° here, cloudy and cooler than yesterday all day today. Going down to 55° tonight with fog and possible rain overnight.
It rained yesterday in Maine just as we were going to the car to start home. About 20 minutes of it until we cleared the cloud & sun the rest of the way. 52° and gloomy here now.
Chilly and gray 60°
It down poured here Iris, we had about an hour of very hard rain. It filled an empty bucket up with 10" of water!
Dreary day. Was misting before. Had a great time in Astoria last night. Brief shower before dinner but cleared and we were able to sit outside. Was a bit chilly.
Major hangover this morning!
Tsk-Tsk....getting too old, Victor! Chilly, gloomy, damp day.....starting to bug me! Louise, would love to see the girls with the turkeys.....
Been about 5yrs since I've had a hangover.. and I don't miss em! lol!
Cleaned up a little in the garden areas of my backyard, transplanted a mum and took out some Montauk daisies which spread to where I don't want them, planted a Jap maple which I had in a bonsai pot, (not the red one I have but a green leafed one.) DW helped and planted hostas in the front border near the house.
55° and dropping
Cool day without any rain. It was just perfect for some heavy outside work, at least until the black flies came out late in the afternoon.
Glad you had a good time, Victor! I don't miss hangovers either, WC! Of course, I could get a hangover with one glass of wine!! I never could handle alcohol, even though I really liked the taste of drinks and wine. Sounds like you timed it just right to be able to sit outside after the rain!
I'm loving these cool temps up here. I just talked to my girlfriend in Florida and she said it was 93 at 7:00 pm. Ugh....so glad to be here!
55 now going to 70.. scattered thunderstorms today & tonight
45 damp with showers this morning. Cloudy this afternoon with highs of 56. :(
the plants I put in yesterday should be happy
54°, wind from the Southeast at 10 mph, windchill 46°, rain.
Clouds giving way to some sun later today, (I'll believe it when I see it..), our high should be about 65°. Thunderstorms possible tonight, our low about 60°.
I feel the same way WC, see it to believe it!
The forecast said "sun". I got up, looked at the window and was ready to go back to bed. We have over a thousand plants Jack grew from seed and they have to be planted by June 3rd. Looks like some 12 hour gardening days may be in store for us.
Holy Cow! 1,000 plants. I feel so relieved to be looking at my 40 or so waiting to get into the ground. Yesterday was so dismal and miserable I never could make myself get to work, just kept procrastinating. Boy, I'm bad.
Another dreary day. Overcast and 56.
1000 plants?!!!
Horribly tragic weather continues. Incredible devastation in Joplin.
that is a lot of plants!
rain again today - woke up to a bird feeded pole bent to the ground - bird house roof ripped open and missing both suet feeders - found one and that was ripped in half - i think yogi paid a visit last night.
I got back to CT yesterday, found 3 1/2" water in the rain gauge I bought and put out last weekend. Since last week the tomatoes are up a foot under the frost blanket. I had to plant them because they got so big they didn't fit in the mini GH or cold frame, and there was no way I was bringing them into the house again! Lettuce and radishes are just about ready, also covered.
I'm here for the week, hope to plant all seedlings from WS and indoors, and orders from Lazy S, Bluestone and a couple of trades-- whew! Lots of babies! Did someone mention weeds? OMG, I have more than enough to share!
Pam
Just two packages of dahlia seeds yielded about 100 plants!
Foggy, 57, damp, gloomy.....is there a pattern here, perhaps? I have around Candy's amount of seedlings to plant, plus tomatoes, & other warm weather crops....the garden is a mud pie.......
Try not to complain as I all winter but this is the pitts.Bought a collection of Hens and chickens and have them in super drainage with pea stone mulch and some are still starting to rot for lack of sun.
Yes, this sucks. Just back from Queens. Spitting all day. 61 and drizzling now.
Today's persistent drizzle has now turned to steady rain.......it was supposed to be partly sunny today....haha......
Can't help but think that, like the rest of us, many people in Joplin, MO, went to bed Saturday night scoffing at the idea of the end of the world coming.
Wow - at least 116 confirmed dead now. Incredible. Let's hope we start raising money and giving aid right here at home.
the pictures are terrible
e-mail message last night from St. Paul DD. she said the storm passed west & north of them. Terrible about MN & Missouri tornados.
Rain here & 54°
The pictures are awful.
We've had rain predicted the past 2 days but barely a brief shower each day.
Horribly sad. The photos make it very difficult to imagine that level of devastation after literally seconds. Incredible!
Drizzly day here....no yard work, but the new transplants seem to be smiling.
Whoa Bill. Sorry to hear about your birdhouse attack. I had a huge chunk taken out of my large Frances Williams hosta. I thought it was a deer, but the prints around it are a very large bear - probably the one that came to our patio about this time last year. I never heard of bear eating hosta! Frances was surrounded by soil and no deer prints anywhere, plus she is inside the fenced area - the same fence the bear stepped over right before our eyes last year. Let me just add that Yogi better not visit and destroy MY wha-house!!!
Breezy, occasional light rain here with very nice temps, 61°.
I was staring out the window at one border and thought I'd just alter the edge a little...Hah! 3 minutes outside was enough. Steady grey drizzle did me in.
Misty with occasional drizzle here. Grey, dame and chilly all day. Bought plants and seeds for the ESL summer garden and they have to get put in tomorrow in spite of thunderstorm warnings.
Just looked at pictures of Joplin. How devastating.
That was supposed to be damp not dame. Although perhaps that referred to me.
The damp has crept into my bones...
I had two trades in Missouri within the last couple of weeks. I think they were far enough away but they must be affected somehow...
I just can't imagine what it's like to be there! I've been in hurricane damage, which is nothing compared to what's going on there.
Pam
was telling myself that all day.. we have it good
NE PA tornado warning right now!!!!! Get in your basement!!!!!
I went to college in Missouri, never had to deal with a tornado, but watching the T-storms roll in over the plains was awe inspiring and scary. Allison, Jack always says we live in the sweet spot. I think he's right.
