Dawn, I forgot to say I am sorry about your back. I had that happen the other day. I bent over to pick something up and I felt the twinge. I recognized that feeling right away and stopped moving. About a minute later, when I moved I was OK. I recognized that feeling because 10+ years ago I had that same feeling, ignored it and blew out my back for about 2 weeks.
You are getting old young lady. Getting old is not for sissies.

Fantastic find a Wilson's Warbler
Dawn you might be able to find it if you googled it and found out what it actually is. Sometimes that helps.
No Evelyn, I think it's under her bed.
No it is buried with the dead lizards.
I think I am going to give my truck to the Horse Park. I am sick of the darn thing not starting when I want to use it. I have been holding on to it because I do use it to pick up supplies, but lately I just do not use it and the battery is dead everytime I try and start it. I must look up the book value of it and see what I can take off my taxes if I give it to them.
I just do not need two vehicles. Especially when the one I want to use does not work. LOL
It is foggy here today, and expected to rain until Tues. The temps are to be in the 80[s all next week. I am going to pot up my curly willow that I rooted and see if I can sell them locally. I am so annoyed at the aphid incident that I am ready to pack it all in. I am repeating myself I know, but I am so frustrated. I am sitting around just getting fat.
Off to take care of the flock and then the GH needs water and spray. Later. Have a good day. JB
Good morning everyone:
well i am happy to report Kim is feeling great. she has backed her meds down to the next lowest drug and she slept for 11 hours straight last night. She can turn her head and now is cleared to drive.
I am worried about my wholesale listing of plants because i am afraid I will not sell them and they will end up having to be held here and get overgrown.
Not much to ad just a few thoughts. oh yea here is a link to see some of my nursery as it sits now.
http://s995.photobucket.com/albums/af75/PUGHBEAR7/wholesale%20pics%20BYG%20add%20052111/
Dave
Tomatoes, large early and cherry for later, Yellow squash, zuchinni, cukes, canning pickels, peppers are in the garden. Now watch it go down to freezing. It is chilly today and cloudy. Sun never came out and it never got above 70. How wrong can the weatherman be. Yikes.
Dave, your wholesale things look great, but do not think you are alone. People are buying in very small quantities at the farm market and everyone is talking about cutting back on their wholesale purchases.
I have not sold a plant in ten days since I had those darn aphids. I was looking at the flats of plants I wanted to put outside and I had a bunch of those ornamental seed starters sitting on the floor of the GH. Almost everything else is outside except the cuttings that are just starting and when I picked up that flat I saw a mess of aphid under the leaves of those darn plants. I took them all outside and threw them away. I can not believe all these ten days I have been spraying and here they are sitting on the floor and I never looked at them. Now I have checked everything and with any luck I will be able to call for a new inspection next week. God, I hope so; I am beginning to think I may as well just close up shop. No money coming in, just money going out.
Dave, I am so glad Kim is better. Thanks for the update. I have been wondering how she was doing and was a bit afraid to ask. LOL. Now we know. Good news at last.
Here is the latest crazy thing I have here. An Iris with a completely yellow center top and a blue bottom. I hope you can see it o.k. I have no idea where I got it or how it got that way. Cute, but different.
Tiime to close for day. Have a good evening. JB
I forgot to ask you a question.
Dave, or any other wizard out there who may have some knowledge about pussy willows. My friend in NY state has a 8 y.o. pussy willow that never had katkins. What causes that? Guess I could google it but first I wanted to ask you all.
JB, we are in the same boat. One of our water heaters went out Friday. Only 4 years old. One of my visitors said I should get a solar water heater and I could get a tax credit. I told her you had to have income to need a tax credit. Plenty of assets, plenty of cash but no income.
I am of to finalize my travel plans. Be back later. Weather here is beautiful.
Dave your wholesales look good. So glad Kim is better.
JB, I have a Forsythia that is the same. About 10 or 12 years old and never has bloomed. I love the shape of it so I have kept it. I have moved it 2 times trying to find something it likes. Still nothing.
Your iris is very pretty.
I have been planting annuals in containers for my decks and as I plant them I just leave them out. It is down to around 42 at nights coming up. That is pretty cold for some of them. My big begonias, tuberous, also the geraniums, petunias of course. As I plant them I just put them on the railings. I just do not have room in the house. I guess I am tired of having them in here. So far so good tho. I guess the next week will let me know if it is too early.
I bought all new tomato plants 'cause the ones I started from seed got hit with cold and ruined. So, I planted all of those out today in the hoophouse. Bob closed up the ends so we will see how they do.
gotta run, ttyl
Well Jnette, I arrive in Spokane on Thursday, 26th of May. I leave June 2 in the early am. I can bring your plants and bulbs in my suitcase. That is if you are able to come down the hill for lunch so you can pick them up. Let me know.
My Amtrak fare from Seattle to Vancouver, WA is $29. That is 3.5 hours down the cascades. Everyone wish me no rain or snow in that area on June 2nd. No wonder they are broke. One of my pleasures is beautiful green mountain landscape and birds. I need to go bird watching while I am there.
I guess I had better pack some warm clothes. But I do not own any. I am sure this time of year I cannot find winter clothing in Las Vegas.
Have a great day tomorrow. I need to get a new water heater installed and do some last minute things. Later, Sharon
How long does it take Brug seeds to germinate, do you know. I have some Datura seeds in a zip lock with Kelp and nothing, also vitex seeds. They never seem to germinate for me? Anyone have a clue?
I still have not found the Micro..I will have to dream about it.
Glad your wife is doing better Dave.
I am getting old. Slept with a Thermafore which is a heating pad with moist heat all night and it is better than it was but not good. Glad I am not having a heart attack.
The New Jersey Dept. of Ag is on Facebook. They ask for signs of growth on farms due to this past rainy season. I submitted that picture of our baby trees and it appeared on Facebook this morning. My daughter was really surprised, she did not know I submitted it.
It is rainy here again today. At least my veggies got water. I am on my way to bank for HP and Market Place for baby food for Barney. He is doing so sell since I mix baby veggies with his chicken and pasta. Seems to be working well. More expense.
My ear is healing finally. Now the other ear is beginning to show signs of psorisis at the same place. I think it is my little hard pillow I use for my head. I think it rubs them and irritates them at the same place on both ears. That is so weird. Cut the things off.
I found some aphid this am iin the GH but I think they are dead. I have them in the kitchen on the leaf trying to see if they are going to move. I do need to start to sell again. Anxiety is mounting.
Hey where is Katie? I thought about you yesterday Katie, we got a notice not how to recycle our old tires. LOL You want more? Years ago they used them in gardens around here, but I think they outlawed that now. Something about the stupid DEP. We have more regulations than any other state I swear.
Dave, I hope you had a good weekend with your lovely wife. Give her a hug for me and tell he to take it slow for a few days. Stress and recovery do not mix well.
Jen, did I remember to tell you I now have three leaves on my white Bird of Paradise? I am so excited. Thanks again. I need to find out why that pussy willow will not bloom. Help me. This woman is a witch and she will never forgive me if I do not solve her problem. LOL
Be back later. Have a gazillion things to do today. JB
I did a really stupid thing yesterday: stepped on a new, beautiful, about-to-flower Agastache and broke off the whole plant at the soil line! I put the piece in a pot of soil and sand and watered it, not knowing what else to do. Any chance this plant might make it?? How about the roots system which is still in the ground? I am really sick about this so any help would be greatly appreciated!
Maryann
Maryann, I have no idea what to do about your plant. I can assure you that you wouldn't fit in here if you didn't do at least one stupid thing a day.
I am on my own today as Tony had to take his son Antonio to the Clinic in Santa Rosalia. Antonio has a foot problem. He'd fit right in here. He might need surgery to fix it as he is barely able to walk now.
I've been cutting the sidewalls out of the tires we got. I use them for paths (filled with rocks) and for plants. They help to keep everything from washing downhill when we get heavy rain - which is usually the only kind we get.
So much to do, so little ambition.
hugs, katie
I too have much more work to do than the energy to do it. I too have numerous foot problems with more surgeries in the near future.
hugs back to you!
Maryann
MaryAnn, Hello, I am not the one who knows about the landscape plants or some perennials. I do mostly tropicals and tender perennials. But, I think I would have put the broken part in tepid water for a few days to see if the shock is going to kick in. I could be wrong, so please do not judge this group by what I say. Dave will no doubt be able to answer your questions if none of the girls can. Good luck and hopefully now you have two plants. Have a great day.
thanks, maybe it's not too late
Jeanette ~ Your plant boosters are in a box under something. Remember when someone was coming over?
Sharon ~ Have a very nice trip. Please keep in touch.
JB ~ Wow, what a scary, funny day you had. Have you considered getting a "lawn boy" for your mowing? I know you can do it, but sometimes it is a bit risky for you.
Katie ~ What exactly are you doing with tires? Stacking them up, while filling them with soil? How are you making a wall with these, laying them like bricks? Can you take some pictures?
Dawn ~ Did you think you would get rid of us all that easily? Heh, heh....I think we have to wait until Dec 2012, but not sure on that either. It will be interesting to see what really happens.
I have been a bit under the weather, not sure what is wrong, but quite weak today. I planted just a few things and then helped Steve round up some stumps with the tractor. Perfect weather to do it. The ground is still quite moist.
Here is the single bloom from the tree peony that I transplanted this fall....
So far i have posted 3 times and it keeps dropping it so this is a test.
That reminds me of a few minutes ago I ordered a pair of shoes on line. 3 times it kept rejecting my card. So, knowing my card was good, I called and had the lady put it in manually. It still rejected it. I called my bank and come to find out I was using the security code on my previous card. dumb. Also, very embarrassing. Then I discovered that once the code was corrected by the second call to them, all of the orders started going thru. Wow. Over a hundred bucks each crack. LOL At some point it would have been right to reject it for NSF.
Hey I was not waiting for the end of the world Saturday, I wanted to go up to the idiots and ask for an apology for making all the real believers look ridiculous. People already think we are freaks. Oh well.
It is Windy as all get out here right now. I need to water, but I really don't want to go out in the hurricane. Gosh dangit.
Freaks Dawn? I think those people are the same that go crazy over Y2K, and every other weird thing that comes along. Some guy over here went in to debt big time and stored all kinds of food in a warehouse waiting for the crash of Y2K. And as you know, nothing happened. Then he was upset that nobody was going to bale him out.
Dawn are those the seeds for Dats that I sent you? I planted some too and they didn't have a problem coming up.
Sharon, for heavens sake do not bring me a suitcase of plants. I have no place to put them and I am hoping to move!! I said I would like a piece of the canna and a start of the black bamboo. That is all!! No more. I don't want to plant them. Thank you anyway.
I am not bringing a suitcase full of plants but I plan on bringing some back. Have a few nurseries in Oregon I am going to visit.
New water heater is going in tomorrow. I think they finally fixed the screwed up home phone. Got a new cell phone. Got rid of the web, touch screen and all the baloney on a phone that I do not use. I have a new senior citizen phone. Only takes photos, texts and calls.
I have a lot to do tomorrow so I am going to bed early. Later. Sharon
Well, maybe the world did not end Sat., but piece by piece something is sure making a mess out of this USA. Poor people in the mid west are getting hammered again today. Tulsa (Dave) and that area are said to be in the worst section for possible bad tornadoes again today. The devastation is so scary. I have no plan here in the event we are to have one. I know I must get the two dogs and find a safe haven, but the birds will have to be on their own. I am not sure if a closet or the bathroom would be the best. They are the only two rooms without windows. There is no way I can get those two dogs and a mattress in the bathroom before the storm arrives. Oh well, guess that plan will not work.
I am worried about Dave, when did anyone hear from him since those storms began?
He did not check in yesterday and I do not remember if he was going on a trip. Anyone know.
I am trying to decide if I want to call it quits with this selling plants. When it no longer is fun and does nothing but irritate, then I think it is time. These aphid just sent me into a frenzy and I am just about to call it to a halt. I am going to work out there today inspecting every plant in the place, if I do not pass the inspection then I quit. Simple as that. I am too old to fuss over a few bugs and less income.
Evelyn, I do not need a lawn boy. We have plenty of help around the farm but I LOVE TO MOW GRASS and intend to keep on doing so until I can not get up on the tractor.
Sharon, My Mother had a spot on her nose she had to keep having treated. it was CA but nothing serious. I do not think my ear is anything but the fact I had psorisis and picked it. Strange thing is, my other ear, same spot just developed the same thing. Something is making them sore, pillow, phone, I do not know. I will be anxious to see the biopsy results so I can at least rule in or out some disease. Always something.
Better get moving. Barney is not feeling too well today. So I am letting him sleep for awhile before I feed him.
Stay safe all you sweet people. Say a prayer for those who were in the worst of it a few days ago. Later. JB
It's another lovely day here. Getting warmer.
Tony has to take Antonio back for another X-ray on Thursday. Today he worked for an hour (washing dishes, the best way to soften me up just in case I wake up in a bad mood) and had to leave to take his father to the clinic. He'll be back later.
I did not sleep well. I have mystery lesions on both arms and tehy have been very painful the last few days. They are not cancer, just nasty and painful. I wrote to my doctor mostly because I've been in so much pain it's hard to sleep and I'm wondering if there is a sleeping aid I could use. Will see if Ruben the druggest here has benadryl if I make it to town later.
Yesterdqy I did some serious dirt moving in the arroyo. It's safe work and doesn't require much thought. I did get an idea or two on how to do the least work and get the best outcome. Best would be to get Tony's brother-in-law Pepe the Human Backhoe out here for a dy or two. However, he has other work that keeps him very busy and hasn't time to hlep us even though I regularly bring him 3X and 4X shirts from the States. Maybe I could bury the next shirst in the arroyo and make him dig them up. Nnaahh.
Does anyone here know of a good topical pain killer that can be used on open sores?
Now that toy has done the dishes, I will do some laundry. And hope my painkiller kicks in.
Don't have any news of the outside world except for Arnold's aby (or babies).
hugs, katie
I remember when rj went thru that real bad one in Houston a year or 2 ago they put mattresses in the front hallway. Don't know that it would work since it was not tested on his house that I know of.
rj, maybe you can tell JB where would be the best.
No, nothing from Dave. I too heard that about Tulsa. Dave, can you hear us? Let us know how you and family are.
Katie, I use Neosporin + pain relief over the counter and I swear by that. It heals sores or cuts within 3 days. The Dermatologist gives me Polysporin when he does any cutting.
I still prefer the Neosporin.
I put Firefox back on the puter again and I still say it is better than IE for me. I had issues when I downloaded the #4 and so I took everything out and left it out a few days to see if it would make a difference on the performance of the PC. It was still messed up and so it must be something in the McAfee or Norton giving me a hard time.
I am getting worried about Dave. I usually hear from him everyday, one way or another.
I have not heard from him for days, but I can not remember if he said he was going someplace or not.
I made cabbage soup yesterday to help me loose some weight. I do know that most of my problem is retaining fluids. I do not swell in my legs or feet, I just know when I am doing it because the scales shows. It can go as high as 5 lbs. Then I need to drink tea . Speaking of tea, I found a new tea, JOE's and it is so good. Has a truck on the front of the bottle. The half and half, tea and lemonade is super good and not too sweet. I sure could eat some pizza. I have not had bread , bagel or pizza for days and I am really having a melt down.
I sprayed the aphid again today and I am going to call now for an inspection. I made up my mind if he finds anything else. I am finished. He can stick his State Laws where it will do the most good. I have 12 two year old Aimees, Two older ones that are very tall and about 2 dozen babies. I have been spraying them individually every day or every other day depending on the weather. The big ones are outside so it is almost a lost cause to spray and it rains on them and washes it off. Anyhow, they are looking very clean. I went into the greenhouse and checked everything in there and I can not find any living thing except a spider. So, we will see.
It is very warm and I have a feeling we will be in a storm watch very soon. The sky is looking nasty. The storms and tornado missed us yesterday, it stayed West by Northwest and thank God it went by. I do not mind hurricanes but I sure am afraid of tornadoes.
Must eat some lunch. Boring lunch of salad with chicken breast. I WANT PIZZA.
Katie, this is for you. Onalee's Seeds. I thought of you immediately. Free shipping.
I will return. I have a few irrigation heads on the drip system I need to check and replace.
Thank you, Sharon. Some things there I haven't seen before.
kb
I just sent Dave an email to his other address. I will let you know if I hear from him. Otherwise, I am out of here for the rest of the evening. Storm Warnings all over the place. One due in about 10 minutes. Later. JB
JB, MSNBC is connected to a local station in Oklahoma and they are following the tornado right down to the intersections on the roads. It is headed towards a heavily populated area. 200 mph. I think he is saying Mora, Oklahoma. Telling people driving on those roads to get off of them.
THEY ARE O.K. HERE IS A QUICK MESSAGE I JUST GOT FROM HIM:
Yes the weather sure does suck great big and out load every day this week. been rockin my world. got kim done and now I be dealing with the silly dry line that refuses to leave. so far 3 days in a row from sw corner of kansas down through texas. heavy rains roolin through. one town got 9 inch's of rain in 2 days.
I am alive and I really need to get over and catch up on my reading.
I am not dead just half dead
Huggs Dave
THANK GOD! TALK TO YOU ALL TOMORROW. ALL IS O.K. HERE TOO. CANCELLED STORM WATCH. WHEW!
well that sucks I lost a big post. well i promise to repost tomorrow am. i have been dow because of the dry line sprouting unstable air and tornadoes out the wahzoo.
Its been tough to even move with everything hurting even when I just move a bit in bed. i had little sleep last night with a sleeping pill and all. been up all day. well I wont bore you with the blow by blow. just been staying in bed except for the car died on the way home from dr appt. seems the altinator is out.had to wait for tow for an hour and no pain meds. as I don't take them when I have to drive. needless to say Its bad.
sorry for going on and on.
ok here is a pic of my poppy
new thread tomorrow along with some answers to all the questions.
huggs Dave
Sure glad you guys all dodged the bullet this time. I got an email from him too. What is a dry line? Do you know what he is talking about?
Now you can sleep good tonight too JB?
We crossposted Dave. I love that poppy. That is my kind of poppy. Is it a perennial, or does it seed itself down? I can see it is going to be full of seeds. Would you please send me some when they dry? I love it.
This message was edited May 24, 2011 4:58 PM
dry line is a weather type front where its favorable for tornadoes and massive storms to form. we have had one for 3 days now. here is what ask said
http://www.tornadochaser.net/dryline.html
They are the most dangerous weather front that can pop out tornadoes with out warning. and with all the humidid moisture we are getting from the gulf and weather from the nw coming together to feed them all.
more tomorrow
Hugs Dave
Glad you are for the most part OK,Dave. Hope the weather misses all of you. It is very rainy here and all around us is under flash flood warning, Some of the farmers and ranchers are surounded by water from the overflow of the rivers, most of the basements are filling with water, but we aren't in the flood plane so far, but there is more to come. At least we just have the wind gusts with it, not the tornados, they did have a minor one touch down about 30 miles away, but not much damage.
ttyal, Lee
Oh Thank God you are ok Dave and hope that all this avoids your area in the future too. I don't know why you guys don't have basements with all those storms. Odd to me.
That will be fun Sharon going over to see Jeanette. I planted some seeds directly in ground and see nothing. I have seeds in wet paper towels in a baggy and nothing either so far. :(
I got a lot of DL from that $25 dollar deal, they came today. Whoowa. Any of you watching American Idol final performance tonight? Can't wait. I was disappointed in the Bachelorette last night, but am anxiously waiting for My So You Think You Can Dance to come on this week. I love reality tv.
Glad to hear you are ok weather-wise, Dave. I do mind hearing about your pain as it consoles me somewhat to know that I'm not the only one here who sometimes can barely move and is still in pain while lying down (sometimes).
Scout the dog was caught playing today. She tossed a big stuffed tiger from the bed to the floor and then tossed it around the bed. She still doesn't play with the other dogs but it was fun to see her having fun.
I think I have one lippia seedling. It is a sweet herb, supposed to be more heat tolerant that stevia. Got the seeds from JLHudson. I love their catalog. I'm going to have a bunch of schotia seeds to send them soon. I think I also have a few goldenberry plants. They are supposed to reseed themselves readily (Plant Guide says they can be a "noxcious weed") so if I can get any going we should be able to keep them going.
Scout would really like to be a lap dog but she's too big.
hugs, katie
