Onward to a new thread ..... we're starting to see lots of fine photos as Spring is finally arriving, at least here in the mid-Atlantic states. In case you wish to visit previous threads, here is the link to the most recent one: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1176649/
I’ll start off with the 'Common Yellowthroat' which is one of my favorite birds. I find it mostly near a marsh or wetlands and it nests close to, or on the ground. Locally, it has sometimes been called the Maryland Yellow-throat. In fact, the name of the Maryland Ornithological Society’s newsletter is called the Yellowthroat.
Here is one verse taken from a poem entitled "Maryland Yellow-throat" by Henry Van Dyke - 1895 - which 116 years earlier so vividly depicts my sentiment today when I am surrounded by this little magical bird.
An incantation so serene,
So innocent, befits the scene:
There's magic in that small bird's note--
See, there he flits--the Yellow-throat;
A living sunbeam, tipped with wings,
A spark of light that shines and sings.

Wow Linth, you have been busy. Wonderful pictures. However, my very favorite is the "mad-eyed Vireo". Sorry your DW has to undergo that knee replacement. Wish her well for me.
Tehehehehe
.. I won't have anyone to carry my 500mm lens ...
Wow Linth, I love all the wonderful shots and the poetry is beautiful!
Thanks for starting the new thread!
Nice ones burn! That is si great you have the waxwings coming in.
I'd settle some Cedar Waxwings here. Have Oregon grapes ripe and ready, but I haven't seen any yet. Nice collection there burn.
Linth, Linth, Linth. You crack me up. Brilliant start, by the way. I really want to see a Common Yellowthroat.
Burn, is that some greening leaves I see in the background?
Hugger, don't you love how birds will perch on anything, like that tulip?
I had a young male Baltimore Oriole stop by for some jelly.
Lovely shots hugger!
Handsome Orioles hugger and Mrs Ed!
Fantastic pictures, everyone. Certainly like the verio with the 'do'. Good luck with the knee operation.
