Money Matters - Part 6

1 in 7 Americans receives food stamps. Incredible.
Unless this turns around soon were all going to need food stamps!
Yes. Commodity plunge is a bad omen, even though it might ease gas prices. A key economic report out this AM was horrible.
Finally heard an optimistic person on the radio yesterday, has written a book asserting that America's openness to innovation willl eventually carry us forward over world competitors without our social and governmental stability. I don't want to argue his points, just wanted to go along and breathe easier for a minute.
Main word there is 'eventually'.
When his book doesn't sell because people are watching their pennies, he'll come down from 'La-La land'.
Wow - new weekly jobless claims approaching 1/2 million again. Not good.
Don't worry, they'll increase out taxes a bit more so we can take care of them.
jobless claims up and congress wants to let the states cut unemployment benefits if they want to.
Oil was under $100, but don't expect them to lower gas prices.
Sold my oil ETF yesterday.
I thought the same thing. Let's see how fast they lower it -
i yelled at the station i used as i drove past this morning - still the same price - need to fill up so i will wait a bit
Got a partial tank last night to get '5 cents off on thursday,' and maybe avoid an extra penny or two on the weekend. 40 bucks for a partial tank fill up. OUCH. Really glad I got that extra 50 cent or so savings LOL
Oil ended below 98.
Fannie Mae wants 8.5 billion more. Never ends.
We hit $3.99 a gallon out here in the country :( It's up to and over $4 in town.
ours came down to $3.99. Hoping it keeps dropping. Wishful thinking.
Ours dropped 6 cents. whoopee.
After all this time, still getting worse!

doesn't surprise me. jobs around here are not picking up.
"nearly 28 percent homeowners" are negative on equity---- wow
Pretty bad.
IF only my DH dad were alive to see it- refused to ever buy a house, guess he would have been satisfied.
Did anyone else receive The American Community Survey?
I had to look up what it is... and it says by law you must answer it. However, the Constitution just says you must be counted, not list the details of your housing, education, etc. I downloaded the 14 page survey to have a look at the questions...

gas just went up $.14. I don't think it'll ever get better :(
$4.33 here, as of this afternoon.
Wow. Paid $4.05 yesterday.
You'll all catch up, sooner or later...
Someone predicted the end of the world on May 21.
Just wishful thinking I bet.
Not even shocking anymore. Just disgusting.
