I see one yellow bud on my iris. I hope more come out. I just saw it through the window. Need to go out and take a close up look.

I was glad with my procrastination of getting my plants taken outside last weekend. We had pea to marbel size hail yesterday evening that covered the ground so much it looked like snow!!!!! It would of beaten them all to death. I stand by my rule here not to put anything out until May 1st. You just can't trust our weather. Although the nice rain we have been having would of been good for them, it would of been for naught after that hail!!!!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I hear ya Crit, we get hail all the time here for some reason, it does seem to make things leaf out more , tho. I , too am ready for warmer temps..

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Lightning seems to help my plants and for a short time will clean the algae out of my pond, which is kind of odd, but then I took a class and they say the magnetic charge does regenerate things.....just as long as it isn't too close...rofl.

I did see some iris buds forming but still only have daffs and tulips up and blooming, way too early for us and daylilies altho the green is really big and pretty.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

I've got a few iris that will not bloom this year, but I have enough blooming to make me happy. Most are NOIDS, but thats OK, I just love irises. My Roses from Ohio are all budded up. Only lost one :(( That was Hansa. I'll have to order one to replace it with. Daylilies are growing like weeds. Hope to see buds soon.

Watched the thunderstorm roll in this morning. Still have rain, but not that hard driving rain of thunderstorm.

At least I don't have to go out and water anything!! LOL :)

We had a tree here at work hit. It was just like the one I had hit in my front yard years ago. From the top you cannot tell it got hit. Not burnt spots or anything. But, on the trunk, just below where the last branch is the back is stripped back to yellowish trunk about 2" wide, all the way down, over a root and into the ground. My tree had about 1/4" groove in it too, but this one does not. Mother nature does odd things. The one that hit in my yard was about 30 feet from my bedroom. I hear this lour BANG....CRACK .... and felt like the cat in the cartoons hanging on the ceiling by my toenails!!!! Man that was loud!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

We've been under a tornado watch since this morning and have had torrential rains several times. Looks like the storms around here for the time being have moved NE. Are you alright, Faye?

Well, I said not much was blooming but do have the lone Lily, several Irises & Tulips (about done), a Clematis, several Columbines & Centaureas, Ajuga & Catmint, "May Night" Salvia, and a Coreopsis I bought a few weeks ago at Lowe's that was already loaded with buds. Probably forgot something. The thrill today was finding a scape on a Hosta.

Isn't it wonderful to watch what MOTHER NATURE Pops up with ??? Love waking up to a new bloom each day :) well just got daddy to bed so guess i better get my rest while I can :) ONLY Up Once last Nite :) with him.
he gets turned around & forgets how to get back to bed so you all have a great evening susie

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

My clematis is blooming. But not much of anything else.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

Have any of you checked out the flower of the day? Alpine auricula. OMG I googled it and pick the 8th on the list. This beautiful flower comes in many colors and even striped. The Apline Auricula Society is in England, so I emailed them to see what zone requirements for it and how to get some.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Well said, Susie. The Thai Orange Iris you shared with me is loaded with buds. In the meantime, here's a Winky Series Columbine. I bought this sweet thing 3 years ago in a 4" pot, and am planning to save seeds again from it and other plants...last year our new puppy just about destroyed my seed bin.

Hang in there, Patti, you shouldn't have to wait much longer.

Check eBay for the seeds Marti.

Geez you guys these tornados are horrible. Now I have all of you scattered all over I worry when I hear about them! I need to gather you all up like a mama chicken and get you in one spot so I can keep an eye on you..... ;)

Here is one of my baby short purple iris, the sun is shining from the west so the color is a little lighter. Probably by next year I should have enough to share.

Thaks happ. Me too. I am watching for our friends to the east to check in and let us know they are OK. Prayers going out for all of those that way. EVERYONE CHECK IN to let us know you OK, please?????

I would love to get some Witch Hazel. Will have to look for some.

Morning everyone! Beautiful blooms!
Please check in, and let us know how your doing after these storms! So much damage last night!
Praying your all OK!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Happ can I be one of your little chickens?? This rain has got to stop. I don't know whether to build a boat or a storm shelter right now.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Neener, glad to see you posting! Any major damage your way?

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

The one thing I've learned to hate about maple trees is the branches that keep fall ing down in the wind. Especially these maples of ours. They have not been cleaned or trimmed in 20 years, so are full of dead stuff and desperately need to be trimmed back. It will take someone with a bucket truck to cut them back and thats expensive. We are saving up for that. Had my way (and the money) I'd cut them down, take out all the roots and replace them with Dogwoods and fruit trees. Maybe a Redbud.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

So far LK things are OK. I think the last of the rain is going through right now. Flood watch in effect for the river though. Those poor people just over the last time a few weeks ago. Hope it isn't too bad south of here since Fruit Loop is traveling here today.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Gosh what beautiful blooms you all are sharing. I have been busy planting Angel Trumpets. So far have dug 23 holes (where the digging was easy) and in each hole there are 2 or 3 different Angels. Have both sides of the fence line to plant now and they will all be singles per hole.
I have the prettiest Iris I've ever had and they are in 5 different places. just love going out to see which one has opened since the day before. Finally was able to fins some of the labels still readable.
Going to post some strange pics. of some Iris. strange because I stitched and merged pictures together. Hope this works.
Love & Hugs to all

Wish you could see all of them at one time. They are beautiful, and showing them this way doesn't let you see the entire plant.
