June RU

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

digger, I made the pineapple casserole at Easter for the first time and everyone loved it. Good hot or cold.

Dahlonega, GA

Pineapple is good , even frosted with cat food . LOL

(Linny) Salem, SC(Zone 7b)

With me it was my grandma, making pies with Eagle Brand. She'd let me lick the can. This cake is decadent, even for my grandma.

digger, how do you know cat food is good on pineapple? You worry me sometimes.

Check the edit http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=8582618. I have crossed off what is so far covered. For items such as chips and dips, beverages, and desserts...I figure the more the merrier. I've acknowledged everything except desserts which is ending up being a longer list than the plants. Okay, as long as I know your priorities. lol

Maypop garden is coming along...

Laurel , that is working real good . Nice . It will be a jungle in another month .
Linny , If it's pineapple , I just mean it's good with anything . Saute some small chicken breast chunks and bake in a peach pie . That will suprise you , it's so good . Really , no kidding and I'm not trying to be funny .

Thanks, Sally. We should be tearing out some veggies by then and having more to follow. The tomatoes are flowering. Hmm, I wonder? I keep wishing the RU was right now so all could see the wonderful plants gifted by you and blooming right now! I've got Sally's beautiful pink hydrangea that really blooms pink without boosting the pH, Brenda's Epimidiums that recently finished, Danita's Finger Poppies are looking gorgeous, a few of Elaine's salvias are doing their thing and Pam's (Cedar's) Coreopsis rosea and dalilies are gearing up. Mike's pb shrub is looking so cute in a pot.

And my hydranga doesn't bloom any more . It's in the ground , lots of water and growing like a weed . No blooms after year before last when they were deep purple .

This is a reminder; if I have accidentally omitted you or your guest from the guest list or not addressed a question, please DM me. My memory is not as sharp as it was a hundred years ago.

Sally, if you show photos of mine maybe it will help inspire your. I'll take a few this week. Every stem has a flower head.

Today is the first time there is time to work in the greenhut. I'll be re-potting and mounting orchids most of the day. That's a very relaxing way to spend some time.

I will be sending out directions and contact information shortly as a DM and not general post. Last year I sent personal contact information to folks who signed up to attend but did not. This year information will be be sent to all who RSVP by DM. Please don't make your RSVP a post on this thread. Let me know, by DM, and I will send you everything you need to get here and be in touch with me. If you need information about our general location, places to stay, things to do or any other info please don't hesitate to DM. Thanks in advance for letting me know ASAP.

Danielsville, GA(Zone 7b)

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Count me in - at least tentatively (leaning toward committed :-)

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

That's terrific, Terry! Consider yourself counted and on the guest list.

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

I will be sending our address and contact information this week and editing the original RU info. It will include a reminder for all to bring sunscreen and a hat as required. A camp chair, if you have one, would be great. We have lots of shady places to sit and chairs or benches to sit on but might need extra.

If someone could bring four bags of ice as their contribution it would be greatly appreciated. We'll have a cooler ready. We won't have time to run to the "corner" in the morning. Looks like we are set for desserts, I've got sandwiches, dogs and fixin's covered. I'll be doing some sides but could still use some side dishes. Deviled eggs are good (hint).
Laurel

Dahlonega, GA

We have a large cooler , We got the ice .

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

Thank you so, Sally.

Augusta, GA(Zone 8a)

Hi, Laurel, I have decided on some Hungarian walnut cake, and how about some Texas caviar,(black eye peas with tomatoes, white corn and oil vinegar dressing. served with tortilla scoops. It should travel well and here in Augusta everybody likes it. Let me know. I also decided to come home that same night because it is only 160 miles from here, and I can use the money to go back that way when it gets a little cooler.

Dahlonega, GA

Oh gosh , I've got to have some of that .

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

Sounds fantastic, Etelka. Thanks so much. We were just talking about Texas caviar the other night (as in wanting to have some). You're a mind reader!

Augusta, GA(Zone 8a)

That is great, I like to make that people want to eat. No sence bringing 6 different green bean casserols, everybody is wanting something different from every day stuff. It is vegetarian too and I can make it a day ahead.Thanks. .
