Will more than likly be staying at her place since it's a 4 hour drive for us!
Oh I sure hope we can make it!! Sure do miss seeing all of you!
Begonianinny , (linny) 20miles into S Carolina wants to come and bring her D H to drive. I hope they stay with me .She has a few plants that need a new home .
Digger
I'm a weary traveler on the road back to Georgia; catching up on the thread and DM. Donna, yes and you have mail. Sally, Linny is welcome with her DH. Is that to say I should add them? LMK. It might take me a few days to catch up, add and edit. I'll be traveling again within forty eight hours of returning so I appreciate your patience. Looking forward to the 25th and a day of kicking back with everyone.
Laurel
Add her , please . The only thing that will keep her home is her health .
Yes, add us please. And we have trees that were started this year from root stock, sent by the Arbor Society. They are coming along nicely. I'd like to trade a Golden Rain Tree for a hybiscus cutting.
Linny
Please add me to for the lunch, I will come alone. I have some perennials that I raised from seed. I hope to root some of the Confederate rose, this is the time to try. Will bring some goodies, if you need anything special, pls. let me know. Etelka
Ok, Laurel, call us Linny & Bill. Thanks for the welcome.
Very welcome and looking forward. Bill's name is now on our list.
In a few days, when I'm hunkered down, I'll post the "things you can help me with" list to all. Thanks everyone for your persistent offers to help.
I just want to remind everyone of the White Elephant trade. You don't have to, but you are welcome to participate. It doesn't cost anything if you are in the creative spirit of passing along or re-gifting.
This is shaping up to be a great R U and get together .
That's 'cause everyone is coming to meet you, Sally. BTW...she's worth a trip from anywhere.
Thank you Laurel , My D D inlaw doesn't think so. Life is fun and I love to laugh . I don't know if I'm backward or just take life as a big joke . If you give up everything except smoking and laughing , Not too much left except good friends and family. lol (and my pets )
Well don't give up laughing ever but you know my stand on the smoking.
I just woke up and didn't want to. Be safe, Mud.
You're very sweet to care , Laurel ."bout me and everyone else that indulges .Hard to give up a 60 year addiction .
I'd sure like to inspire you to give it up, digger. I don't want you to end up like me and be unable to take care of the dogs the way you want to. I can take care of them, just not the way I'd like to get out and play with them like I used to. it's a drag... no pun intended.
Linny
I know lenny , I know .It's harder when you love them so much . That's what defeats me .
As long as you keep trying, Sally. Just keep trying. It can takes bunches of tries. I know.
It's great to land isn't it Elffie? We landed in Atlanta last night and made it to Maypop tonight. I'm sleeping in tomorrow.
I'm not preaching at you Digger...but I will let you in on my secret for quitting...Acupuncture!! It was wonderful...no craving, no second hand smoke bothering me...I highly recommend it.
See you soon...at Exit 105 on I-20... Jo
I know , R R , when I run into youngsters I do preach to them . If just one would quit , it would be my reward .
Won't be long now .
My weapon for quitting was Nicotine Anonymous.
"Keep coming back. Smoking does not make you a bad person. Quit 10 minutes at a time. Never quit quitting."
My only problem was waiting too long to quit.
I quit for two years, and started back. Then 6 years and started back. Now it has been 7 or 8 years. I don't remember.
Nobody ever loved them more than me. they were my best friend. Nicotine is or would be my drug of choice. Without it, there is food.
Smoking robbed me of my mobility. I love being active. Make that loved.
Linny
I've rolled my own for eleven years or so , about eight to eleven dollars a carton , depending on how much we pay for papers .
I quit for three weeks and didn't miss them . I thought , this is so easy , I'll just enjoy one with my morning coffee . My bad .
We're O T . Sorry
I used Chantix and yeah, I know there is a lot of unpleasant publicity there... but you know a LOT of people get twitchy when they quit, regardless of method. I smoked 45 years and was up to 2 packs a day... YUCK! also there is a super online place called quitnet and that help enormously. http://www.quitnet.com/qnhomepage.aspx I have been quit over four years now and I really did not think it was possible for ME to quit!
One thing I learned on quitnet is that you can never, ever have just one. It instantly re-addicts you.
I loved smoking - I organized my life around it but I really, really love being free of it.
Ms. Sterling
***This is an edit to the original request for what to bring. We now have everything we need and then some so it's whatever you want to share.
We'll have brunch with bagels and several homemade spread options. There will be coffee and tea. For lunch there will be several sandwich variations, including a vegetarian option, and Kosher hot dogs with super fixin's. I'll make some "cool beans" to go with the dogs. There should be produce coming in during this time. Whatever the garden tells me to pick will be on the menu.
This list will be updated as needed. When you let me know what you'd like to bring I'll place it by your name on the guest list. Thanks in advance for your participation. If you have a special secret recipe you are dieing to make and it doesn't seem to fit my suggestions please feel free to share.
Thanks in advance,
Laurel

I am planing to bring desserts, maybe some European type. Make good Tiramisu (Italian dessert, very rich, layerd Lady fingers with whipped cream , cram cheeseand cocoa.) Hungarian walnut pastries.
That would be wonderful, Kiseta (Etelka). I'll put you down on the guest post for desserts. Thanks.
Laurel
I'll do eggs, pickels, olives, etc. Mike
Upside down bisquit pudding with lemon drizzel .The custard cooks on the bottom .
Okey, put me down for the paper goods!
Yummy, Sally!
Laurel, how fahr is Dillard from your house, I could get a room for under $60.00 and spend a weekend up there, looking around.
Kiseta , it is worth the trip at any distance .
I have been there with my lady friends and rented a cottage, but I tought it would be a safe place for someone traveling alone.
Thanks bunches, Mike. Make extra eggs for me. :>)
Sally, that sounds killer!
Brenda, thanks for bringing the paper.
Kiseta, Dillard is on the border of GA and N.C., about an hour from Maypop. A beautiful area. You may find it more economical to look at the Stovall House which is only miles from us. It's a bit more but the savings would be worth it. http://www.stovallhouse.com/ There are inexpensive motels in the $50 dollar range in downtown Cleveland. Very bare bones, safe and not nasty. I have a friend with a luxury cabin in rental. It would be economical as a shared space for two or three.
I'll bring that coconut cake that calls for Eagle Brand and coconut milk being poured over the top, then spread on Cool Whip, and top with coconut.
You gotta like coconut... lol
Also, chips and Onion Dip.
Linny
Put me down for chips and if I get time, I'll bring a dessert too or maybe a pineapple casserole. Anybody tried that?
Brenda
I've eaten baked pineapple . Loved it .Recipe somewhere . Need to put it in favorites when I run across it .
Linny , when I was a little girl , Daddy used to buy me Eagle brand milk . He opened the can , gave it to me and I dipped a spoon in it and licked the spoon . I ate a half a can at the time .Still love it .I have to make room for five more pounds when this roundup is over .
