I have read that most penstemon are short lived perennials, like columbine. :-(

Spending Spree part 5
Well...I was just out weeding and mine have spread...I have 2 new plants and the old plant is bigger! :)
Thanks, Cathy for the info.....yes, I need to stay away from the nurseries, too. My Bluestone order came at 8:15 last night! Didn't know Fedex worked so late....I ordered phlox Home Fires, & it has blooms.....also Louisiana phlox, Lavender Ice delosperma, hosta Capt. Kirk, Bloody Mary geum, and Campanula Blue-eyed Blonde....they all look good!
Nice haul, and yes they look great!
Thanks....
nice marilyn - was happy with my bluestone order too - just need to remember what it was i ordered:) there was some reason behind it - i think....
My order for the phlox was to fill in the shade garden where the dale has dug out my plants!
I am waiting for their May sale. I always order early then kick myself for not waiting. This year SOME self control!
Karen... my hopes are that they will self seed around momma and make some new ones
My Annie's Annuals order came....the plants look wonderful, I'm very pleased!
Celeste do you have this one?
http://www.bluestoneperennials.com/b/bp/HERPP.html
Surprisingly.....NO. LOL
I may have to get it, "exceptional fragrance"
I've bought some for the name though, like "Aunt Leona",(DH's Aunt) "Westbourne Birthday for Theresa",(his other Aunt...the one that lives next door) "Miss Izy", (for DGD Isabella), "Francis of Assi" (my brother who passed), "Hunter's Torch" (DGD Hunter) and the list goes on. :)
Hit the big orange box store, just got a delivery of roses in........dragged 3 home, to add to the 6 that still needed to be planted! Grabbed a nice climbing America, will replace an ice ravaged one I yanked out, and two tree roses, iceberg and a pink iceberg, which I had never seen before. Very pretty!
Marilyn, the plants from Bluestone look fabuloso! Glad you like the plants from Annie's so much. Aren't they great?!!!
I just got my order from Swan Island Dahlias. They look good. Will pot them up tomorrow, along with planting my order that I received last week from Annie's and getting my pea seeds sown.
Will have to get in on Bluestone's May sale.
Sounds like you got some nice roses, Dem.
Karen
I saw christmas tree shop was advertising tree roses.. might swing by and take a peek ::::blush:::::
Pretty, Marilyn.
Allison, I can see some of them getting into your car with you.
Karen
Ooohhh, nice, Weeze!

Karen
ooooooohhhhhhhhhh man.. you know one of those orders you might have taken a chance on ... because the prices seem good.. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM WRIGHT GARDENS AGAIN!!...
I posted photos of the carnage in my diary
http://davesgarden.com/community/blogs/t/onewish1/15383/
I am almost in tears they are so busted up
I just looked on garden watchdog .. they are rated a top 5 company
what happened????????
How is everyone's experience with Sooner? The Sooner the better?
never had any... sorry Victor
I have to say I am impressed with the service already... turned me around... he said it was the worst shipment he has ever seen.. and sending replacements for the busted up ones on monday.. just hope those come better... I swear it's my post office or something in route... I had the same problem with park seeds boxes getting trashed in the past.. but they made good on them as well.. wish everyone would ship ups.. for some reason he wants to post the photos on his site
Alison, its definitely the shipper, not the sender. They did everything wright!
In my business I order a lot of things, and once in a while (I'd swear it's a disgruntled employee) it looks like it came fro a third world country.
I always try to buy locally. That way I can look at the plant(s) a couple of times before I open my wallet (and take out my charge card).
I couldn't help myself. This just followed me home yesterday:

Such guilty pleasures. I also picked up some basil and nasturtium, but it is still a little cool to put them out. Gosh, I love Gilberties. They are $3.50 each or 3 for $10.
the only thing I suggested to him was that some companies put something in the dead box space so it can't squoosh ... I agree the post office is to blame.. but if the reinforcement was better it would not have mattered
love love love the color of that Cathy!!!.. I would not be able to walk away either!!!
he is quick.. LOL

Nice to support local businesses, but they just don't have the variety. They only sell what the masses want.
I agree, Victor. Cathy that would have come home with me as well...it's a beauty! Allison, really sorry those plants were a mess....hopefully the new ones will be better. Did they come from the post office? I would go down there with the box & complain very loudly!
yeah usps... such a shame
What a mess Allison, glad he's replacing everything!
Victor, ours do. We are lucky to have a grower nearby. Local to me is less than an hour away. Actually we have all kinds, but I generally don't have the funds to go after too many larger plant$.
In a nearby community there are 2 garden centers, directly opposite each other, and they do not sell duplicate merchandise. Both upscale. Don't confuse them with big box stores; one trip to HD tells it all.
