kwan, it's lovely. :-)
===================================
thankful today that the fireflies have returned.
that the rains have helped put out the PK Fires
that the storms ONLY gave me rain
Today, I am thankful for...#4
Today, I'm thankful my friend in AR is okay after all the tornadoes and storms they've been having. Two days in a row, she's had to retreat to her shelter.
Oh Debra, I was just thinkig about lightning bugs today. If you have them maybe we will in a couple weeks. I've really been concerned about you today.Because of storms here, I've been keeping close watch on Weather chanel and heard you were under the gun too. Storms are supposed to fire up again here tomorrow. I feel pretty safe up here. All the storms seem to follow the Arkansas River and stay in the valley. We mainly have rain and hail. We had alot of lightning.Tho we were under a tornado warning once this afternoon.I stayed on the porch listening for one.It went just south of us. They say more are due around 3 AM. Will probably stay up
Everyone take care.
Vickie
Today, I am thankful for...
...really cold milk.
...still cool temperatures so I can get out after work for awhile every day.
...the energy to get out after work for awhile every day while we have still cool temperatures. :-)
Today, I am thankful for a sunny day and McGrath's Fish House Restaurant.
Today, I am very thankful my grandchildren who lived on the outskirts of Tuscaloosa, AL are okay. The tornado veered when it was about 7 miles from their house. Healing thoughts and prayers for those who weren't so fortunate.
How did your area fare in the latest onslaught, Vickie?
Today I'm thankful I have a good marriage. My husband drives over the road and is gone weeks at a time. He is home today, but has to pick up a load in the morning (leaving at 5am, home by 3pm); and has to leave out Sunday morning early to deliver the load to Michigan. So precious few hours to spend together after being apart three weeks.
Through tears, I'm thankful.
Today, I'm thankful there are plenty of hugs here for those who need them.
(((hugs!!!))) Stop by anytime. They're free.
My one marriage ended 24 years ago next week, we were only together two years. Both parents and all three siblings were all married at least twice (nine times in one case). I find deep hope and comfort in hearing from people who have enduring, caring relationships. I'm only 54, so maybe one day... :-)
==================================
Today, I am thankful that my friends here and their families are safe.
I am thankful for people who offer unstinting support to anyone who needs it. [hugs to you, too, kwan]
I am thankful for mail order plants--that are cheeeeeaappp. LOL
Today, I am thankful for this afternoon's rain. Brief, but welcome. Have some digging to do tomorrow and damp is better. :-)
I am thankful a cold front is moving through and it is only supposed to be in the 60s tomorrow. Cool is better with digging to do, too. :-)
I am sincerely thankful to be able to get around tomorrow to DO the digging there is to do.
Today, I am thankful that I don't have to feel guilty for not getting out today to do the digging there STILL is to do. LOL
Thankful that I did get two of nine Clematis planted, and that the Zinnias I rescued yesterday from certain dehydration death in the office landscaping perked right up this morning after some water.
Thankful that the kitchen sink stopper was found so two little dogs could get long overdue baths. (Normally bathe all three in the tub, but just didn't have the energy today.)
Today, I am thankful to have been able to indulged in a Filipino dish called lumpia without guilt. I love it, but normally I would have to avoid it because of the fat content. Lumpia is most definitely not on my diet. The lady was selling it to make money for the Red Cross relief effort, however. It was a sacrifice, but I just had to do my part for the cause. ;-) ~Nadine~
Thankful to get out to do some digging (echo??) getting ready to plant orange and peach trees. Will need to make wire mesh baskets for the holes against gophers before they go in.
Debra, FYI, we give our dogs a bath in the shower when we go in for ourselves. We have 3, a Shepard mix (Tipper), a miniature pinscher (Dyem), and a merle coated chihuahua (S'More). I have taken Tipper and S'More in together, but would not try 3. Works best when there is someone outside the shower to take a little dog, but no worries if they shake outside. The floor gets cleaner when it get wiped up!
Yes, Nadine, anything for a cause has no calories.
Ooh! Nadine!! I haven't made Lumpia in years... hope I can still find my recipe.... my sister got it from one of her many neighbors when my brother-in-law was in the Air Force. She got so many good recipes!!
I am grateful for honest, friendly cheap eBay sellers,
for my friend DEBRA, who sent me two coneflowers lovingly packed,
for my French press coffee maker -- after being away from home, it's the best!
Today, I am thankful for closure.
quilty, sounds like fun. :-)
Amen to that, kwan

Today, I am thankful I controlled my temper and did not quit my job. :/
Thankful for the day-long rain. Drought was getting worrisome.
Thankful for readily available Greek-style yogurt. With pineapple, no less!
That's just about how Nadine discovered lumpia as well, Cajun2. I am retired AF and did TDY in the Phillippines. I introduced them to my god-daughter (Nadine) a few year's ago when a vender started selling them outside the PX on base. You can find lumpia wrappers in local stores now. I think losing weight just became harder. Maybe, I'd better check out that Greek-style yogurt.
I am thankful today that I didn't have to do the shopping by myself. Things go so much faster and easier when you can split the shopping list three ways. (Jim)
I tried the Greek yogurt. It's really good but pricey.
Today, I am thankful for SSI checks and nurserys.and sunshine and cleaning supplys.
Today, I'm thankful my DH got his seasonal vehicle out of storage and is driving that. It means I have MY vehicle back. Yea!
kwan, it was on clearance. :-)
vickie, si.
kwan, ya-hoo!

Today I am thankful for--
Red seedless grapes
Hand made goats milk herbal and citrus soaps
The United States of America Special Operations Forces
I am thankful today to be so "unsophisticated" that I can still feel awe for the everyday wonders in life. ~Nadine~
Yes.
I pray you never lose that feeling of awe.The whole world needs a stiff dose of it.
I'm thankful and proud of our government and naval forces too.
Am thankful for strawberrys and bananas.
Worked 2nd shift at a convenience store in my early 20s. Sometimes, I would stop my customers and have them just LOOK at the sunset. Or made a few laugh by pointing out that, if you squint just a little, the huge mound of construction soil across the road looked like a distant mountain in the dusk. I think it takes a conscious effort to retain that perspective, but it is easier if you work at it every day.
One of my employees is a former Army Ranger. He's proud of them, too. :-)
LOVVVVEE strawberrys. My experiment with the hanging bag "grower" was a $25 failure. So I'll figure out something else to put in it and try a real container or bed for them next year.
Today, I am thankful for~~~
The eBay seller who sent a bonus Daylily for each one I ordered. Happy-happy, joy-joy!! Ordered Snake in the Grass Boo, James Clark, and Chinese Chariot. Bonuses were Intense, Tupac Amaru, and Plum Curls. Nadine, between Bela, Snake, Tupac, and Plum, looks like you're going to be getting a start on that Goth Garden, Jim is getting some really bright reds, and Kay is getting really nice fragrance. :-)
The extraordinary sensations from this new brain drug. Whether it works or not to dissolve some of the Teflon coating, I wouldn't have missed the initial effects.
Emery boards.
Today I'm thankful that the pine beetle dead pine tree in our backyard only took out one small section of fence, leaving the rest intact. We didn't get a chance to cut it down when hubby was home last weekend (home 3-4 days/month) because we ran out of time. It fell the best possible way, and even fell so that there are too many briar bushes for my dogs to want to get out of the yard until hubby can get home again to take care of everything.
Thankful for continued mild weather here, albeit dry. Talked to a sweet Amish man the other day in Illinois who said they are unable to plant for all the mud in their fields, so their crops may or may not have enough time to produce this year. Prayed for him/them and gave thanks for water hoses and wells. We're in a much better position to be able to ADD water... nothing you can do when you have too much other than wait.
Thankful for a long growing season in the south. It gets really hot, but God gave us plenty of beauty in our Texas Natives.
Amen to that, Cajun.
I do not know where to put this message but here goes: Hanceville was hit by a tornado. Cullman was hit by a tornado. Most of Cullman County did not have power or phones. This happened Apr. 27. There are so many trees down that we might not get phone service for another week or two. We went into cope mode immediately. I am at the library using the computer. There are many injured and dead,in Alabama. I do not know how many. We have never had a power failure to last this long. In 1974, we had a bad series of tornadoes that took out K-Mart in Cullman. We did not have the warning system that we have now. This one even hit the hospital. It has been BAAAAD. I know people in other areas have this kind of problem all the time, but when you are un-used to it, it hurts. And then it turned cold. Fortunately the power came back on last night. Thanks to God for His help and care. Luciee
luciee, this is a fine spot to put such a message. i am glad you and yours are safe.
Today I am thankful that...
My 11-year-old grandniece forgives me for missing her dance recital.
There are choices for medical care. When new neuro appears to not listen to patients, time to interview the next. I like having the Blue Cross medical coverage that let's me MAKE choices. :-)
The temperatures have remained cool for this time of year. Not quite ready to face 100 degree days. LOL
me either, Debra!!
(and I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield too!! and thankful!!)
Modern medicine.
Thankful for brightly colored flowers,garden chimes,gentle breezes,strawberrys.
Thank you. Debra. Today I am thankful for not being where the flood is. I sure do sympathize with the people who live there. We will not get phone lines for another week or 10 days, so I will keep using the library's computer. I am thankful that I can drive and come here to do this. I am thankful our house escaped any damage, so many did not. I am thankful I do not live in Tuscaloosa, AL. They have too many football games for me anyway. I am thankful I can help instead of being helped, but if I needed help, I would be thankful for it. I am thankful that I joined Dave's Garden so I can communicate with people of like minds. I am thankful always to God and His providence, everyday and every way. Luciee {;^)
I am thankful for Johnson county Arkansas Sherrifs dept. Who drove 35 miles to get to my house when apparently one of my cats walked across my phone and pressed the 911 button. I will take them a cake or cookies.
I am thankful Luciee and others like her are safe, and only inconvenienced. I pray for those, so many of them, who God challenged, for their burdens to be given to Him.
I am thankful that DG is here to be able to touch base with virtual friends!
Today, I am thankful for...
...birdsong
...Tina Turner
...automatic clothes washers. Have had to hand scrub laundry for six in a bathtub, don't want to have to do that again. :/
