Today, I am thankful for...#4

Midland City, AL

Hm-m-m, purple paint pens. I think I will volunteer to go to the craft store next time we need a paint pen. :-) If labeling lots of plants were not so boring, I might stop trying to convince myself I didn't need to because I would remember and I wouldn't have so many mystery plants on the nursery tables.
Today, I am thankful I can take a day off just because I feel blah. ~Nadine~

Yea, Carrie!!

Rubber bands

Cut-glass doorknobs

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I WILL be thankful if someone tells me what a paint pen is and where to get one.

(Zone 7a)

Paint pens are just what they sound like and can be purchased at any craft or art supply store. I think I may have even seen them at Walmart. You can use them on wood, metal, cloth, etc... Lots of fun!

Today, I am thankful we have clear skies and that we got a new mat for the slider entrance.

Oh yeah, thankful that it is Friday too.

Today I am thankful that the storms last night weakened enroute, so the hail was only dime-size by the time it got to my house.

I am thankful the car fits under the carport without too much shuffling of the miscellaneous junk underneath it (potting table, stools, trash can, etc.)

I am thankful for easygoing employees who don't mind getting dog food for me while they are out getting supplies for the office. :-)

(Carole) Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

I'm so thankful it's still pleasant to be outside working in my yard, weeding, watering, moving, playing...

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

I am thankful that we finally got good rain overnight. Now I can begin to plant seeds, at least, because we are close to our last frost date.

Crozet, VA

Ditto to all of the above. Hope every one is enjoying their Saturday.

Today, I am thankful for a nice young man at our Barnes N Noble who helps me choose sci-fi/horror books to read. He and I appear to have the same taste.

today, i am thankful that the unbelievably huge wildfires to the west of Dallas/Ft Worth have not yet combined and have not yet overrun the two small towns evacuated earlier today. one firefighter was killed, but he is the only fatality to date. praying that doesn't change...and that we get rain or let up on the winds or both.

thankful for the cool morning and not too hot afternoon

thankful to have found the deli meat in the freezer today so my sister and i will have lunch tomorrow--that i don't need to cook. :-D

(Debra) Garland, TX

Today, I am thankful that...

It rained at my house this afternoon and no hail again...whew...

The new lily bulbs are coming up. Gonna be purty...

The winds are supposed to drop and there is a possibility of rain to the west all this week. The fires are getting worse and the town of Palo Pinto was evacuated tonight. Terrible to think buildings like the county courthouse might be gone by tomorrow at this time...

I need to look up those fires. I know when we have the wildfires here, that is almost all that is on the news, but when it is in another state, not so much news. DH's distant cousin sent pictures near her hometown area, Alpine, TX and I looked it up on the map - it is a long distance from Palo Pinto. Are they using those huge planes for water drops and chemical drops?

(Carole) Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

Today I heard that 34 fire departments outside of Texas are assisting.
Here is an update I found on Fox News online:
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/04/18/texas-wildfires-continue-widespread-destruction-evacuations/

They could really use our prayers....

(Zone 7a)

Thinking of all those who need help.

Today, I am thankful that our internet service is back up and running. It's been out since yesterday morning.

(Debra) Garland, TX

Today, I am thankful:

That the fires seem to have missed Palo Pinto. It was cooler and less windy, which helped.

That most of the Roses given to me by the neighbors are doing well. Looks like just two are going to have to be pulled. But will be fun to find something else to put in those spots. :-)

That, yes, pouring the juice from a can of pickled beets into a drained can of non-pickled beets will pickle them, too! (at least, pickled enough for me if left in fridge overnight LOL)

(Carole) Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

Today I'm thankful that I am finding more and more people to trade plants with. I've worked in the same office almost 3-1/2 yrs. Within the past 30 days I've worked out trades with 3 of my co-workers. I got 2 huge aloe veras today!

Thankful one of my co-workers introduced me to her mom who LOVES gardening. We went last year to Hope Farms & plan to go again 4/30. Last night she & I traded a bunch of plants. We had done it last year, so this year she was able to give back to me some of my bulbine and black & blue salvia that I lost.

Thankful I have friends coming into town this weekend. We're not only going to visit one another gardens, and spend time together, but we're going to set up at the flea market and sell some of our old 'crap' we've been 'sitting on' for 5+ years (each!)

VERY much thankful for this thread and a group of people who remind me to be thankful for something every single day.

(Debra) Garland, TX

I am thankful for a grey cat(sweety) that hopped in my lap and licked my nose while i was sitting in a chair outside. She kissed my nose for no reason at all and was gone.
I do my gardening sitting in a chair in front of my big flower pots.

Midland City, AL

Debra, I hope you aren't pushing yourself too hard in the garden. It is close to 90 in the afternoons now. Tell that rain to come this way, Vickie.
Today, I am thankful for chamomile. I haven't made any tea with it yet. It is so pretty in the garden I hesitate to take the flowers. :-) ~Nadine~

Thankful for having found several years of test reports I need to copy for the new neurologist on Tuesday. Oh frabjous day!

Thankful for baker's racks

Thankful for the bunny ears I wore this AM for 17 yo DD and 29 yo GS. Although it was a cross dressing bunny - bunny was wearing candy cane jammies, lol.

Thankful for our pastor's wonderful message on this Resurrection Day service. He warned us he was going to sing for the first time in 6 years, but he has such a wonderful, deep baritone singing voice, contrasting his speaking voice.

(Zone 7a)

Today, I am thankful for this. When my mom passed away, a dear friend gave it to me and this weekend it bloomed.
