DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Donna, I didn't know there was a Pink tweedia, please post pics when it blooms. How's your weather there ? Are you warming up yet ?

Is that like Bless your heart!... DEAR HUSBAND!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Hmmm, the "D" does not always stand for "dear". :-)

I found these recipes for the Ken's Mix. There are quite a few of them.

Well these are not tropical but they are chive seedlings that i started last year and they survived our winter here. I am also going to Washington state the growing season so I can grow Brugs outdoors. I will be there june to december.

MJ your Ceropegia sandersoniae is growing gang busters! If you have any extra cuttings to spare you know where you can send them...lol! Saturday we had plus 10 celsius and than on Sunday we got rain, snow and than rain/snow.....but it didn't stay.

Perennial Girl, we, here in the U.S. can't successfully trade or send anything to Canada - it gets confiscated - I know - I've tried 3 times without success.

My laptop had been acting up for a few months and the past two weeks it wouldn't hold a charge for any longer than ten or so minutes which was really annoying! My husband ordered a new laptop for me and it arrived this afternoon. When he got home from work he set it up and transferred all of my files over for me ... I am a happy gal!

MJ: I love that foliage on Lantana Samantha, it's absolutely beautiful! Please post another photo when it blooms!

This Bromeliad got a lot more purple when I moved it to a higher light location:

Well, I've got an hour before the NCAA Championship Basketball game comes on t.v. so I'm going to lurk on a few of the forums for a little while. Have a great Monday night everyone!

Good Evening All!!

We were lucky to get a little rain last night, but I will have to turn the heaters on again in the GH's tonight.

PerennialGirl, thanks, How lucky to have a DH that is so talanted. That is the best present ever! I bought my Hoop Houses in a kit from Farm Tek. I have totally enjoyed them, it was money well spent. Can you show a few of your prized plants in your GH. I think everyone is getting tired of seeing mine.

Joeswife, I bet the fragrance from your Maya makes your basemnt garden seems like heaven. They are an oldie but a goodie!
You might as well get used to the idea that your garden will never be completed, it is a work in progress. There is always something that needs a do-over.

mjspoies, Glad to hear that there were no more damages to your property.
I love the white passion flower, at one time I had an all white flower bed, but got muddled with mislabled plants.
The Tweety bird plant is a sweetie, a new plant for me. I love the foliage just as much as the flower.
I do love orchids, and will buy them to brighten up the house on special occasions, but very seldom get them to rebloom for me.
That is good self control with that nursery right up the road from you.

RachelLF, the Sagittaria is from you, I could not remember the name when posting. I wanted you to see how well it is doing. I will have to repot it very soon. Thanks I am ejoying it.
Thanks for the offer of the C Johnstonii, but have ordered one from Eldon Tropicals. We can compare growing notes later to see exactly what conditions really make them grow.
Nice new plant from B. Williams, new to me also. I will be googling.

Hi pensacolagarden, glad that you visited!! Did you ever find a Brug. Maya ?
Good growing on the chives, they make very pretty flowers as well.

Is this a old leaf or do I have a problem with this fern?

I am waiting on stuff to bloom, lots of buds going on but no flowers.
If someone has something in bloom that they would like to show off, feel free to start a new thread.

Plantladylin, Great shots, Good job on the bench, it looks like new.
That is some string of bananas! I know that you will enjoy your new laptop. I inherited my GS's old one when he went off to college.

prita: I can't imagine ever getting tired of seeing photo's of your beautiful, wide selection of plants! So many are new to me and very interesting. The plant you refer to as "Tweety Bird" Plant looks like Callisia fragrans: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/54577/ I had never heard of that one until receiving a little pup in my very first trade here on DG in 2006, and it's become one of my favorite plants! The tiny blooms are so pretty ... and fragrant too!

I don't know much about Staghorn Ferns but the leaf on your plant looks to be a fungal infection to me ... I'd remove that leaf and move the plant to a dryer location and withhold watering for awhile.

Love the white Irises!!

I really will enjoy this new laptop ... the first ever "new" one for me! My first two were hand me downs from my DH and the last one that just went kaput was a hand me down from my nephew!

I was out in the backyard poking around today and noticed this Amaryllis has a big fat bud that should be opening soon. I look forward to seeing the bloom to see which Amaryllis it is!

Rita, I never get tired of your posts, and James I am glad to see you, too!
Lin, as always your pictures are gorgeous. I have been sick at home all day so going back to bed to re-coup.
I think I "over did " it this past weekend.
It is getting down to 34 tonight, sure am glad no tender tropicals outside yet.

Please don't forget about this thread - we still need your entry:

Debra: So sorry to hear you aren't feeling well ... take care of yourself and feel better soon!

I'm really sorry to hear that some of y'all are still having to fight cold weather. It isn't fair, is it? Down here we are having temp's in the 80's ... it got up to 88º today. We are supposed to have storms again tomorrow with another chance of severe weather again ... as if last week wasn't enough!

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Lin,
Tweedy Bird vine is a nickname I gave it. It's Tweedia caerulea, http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1409/ a member of the Milkweed family.
I love love your Nun's orchid ! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=8472130

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Rita - I don't know how you keep up with all your hoophouses and greenhouse. It's all running me ragged right now !
Only a few of our Amaryllis are blooming right now. We dug them up late in the fall and put them in the barn as we made a new bed for them. Got them back in the ground a little late since out of about 25 on 3 or 4 are blooming.
This is a pic from last year. I'll try for a pic of the new bed

Debra - Wishing "Spring" for you !

Just want you all to know I'm lurking and enjoying the beautiful pics.

Yeah; me too Holly!

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Good morning, all! Debra, I hope you are on the mend - GO TO THE DOCTOR!

I hope all of you have this thread marked as 'watch' - there are some gorgeous plants/blooms being posted!!!

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1161334/

I'm sure a new thread will be started soon.

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

This thread is where I posted some pictures of what's currently going on in my yard and greenhouse - go take a look:

(Zone 1)

MJ: Storms, Storms, Storms ... haven't we had enough? I know y'all got a lot more rain over your way last week than we did and the storm that's blowing through right now is sure dumping a lot more! I hope you aren't getting any of the high, damaging winds they've been talking about on t.v. Stay safe!

Oh, that Tweedia Vine is really pretty! I get confused and was thinking prita was referring to the photo she posted here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=8472178 as the Tweedy Bird plant. The plant in her photo is different than the one in your link. The photo in her post looks like "Basket Plant", Callisia fragrans.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

I lurk all the time but am too ignorant of plant names to even dream of making a comment. I really enjoy the banter and the education.

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Lou, just ask - everyone on DG is friendly and WE ALL are in the same boat - we just ask questions and learn as we go!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Amen to that!
