Plant Propagation part XXXIII based on my own experience

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Hey now Jen I resemble that remark.
no he was fine ..my mom thought someone had poured hot grease on him. She makes her own suet cakes for the birds.
not a lot to add. I have to start pulling plants off the table in the prop house as they are all rooting out. time to harden them off and maybe get them sold by the end of may. That would be a hoot considering they were stuck this spring. boy I love the root feedin mix its great. I need to apply another dose of it to all the new plants I just planted.
Oh yea i figuired out why it was so cheap. it was garden soil not potting mix. I used it on the dianthus and baby's breath so they should like it. its got more hardwoods in it. It just goes to show the hurrier iget the behinder I am.... My helper has not been out all week I think she's done but we will see. Once summer hits i wont need her so I figuire she will be back around when I am done for the spring. I have a ton of stuff to root so its all on me now. going to an herb fest saturday with Mom and my niece. it should be fun.
Stay out of trouble
Dave

I will do a new thread tomorrow or later today depending on how far I get digging RC's of ajuga for an order.

Dave, did you know they have free classified ads on eBay? I just put one up and it all seems free. I am not exactly sure what the catch is but I will find out. I put the Horse Shoes up to sell and then I noticed the classified. I guess I should have read the terms...lol. JB
I need to do that before I put up any plants. It is for your locality I am sure because you must give a phone number and an intersection point. JB

Sounds like ebay is trying to get into craigslist income stream

Jeanette my Brugs are already budding back out, in a couple of days in the house. I will keep them in here until May now. I don't think I will have issues like this then. Even if it is chilly it won't be freezing. Our cars have been freezing shut if left out of the garage so that should tell you something about the poor Brugs. I also planted a Hydrangea and it looks like death but it is still hanging in there with all the droopy leaves on it. Very much alive at this point.

I think you are brave to live in Mexico Katie. Americans are generally anxious about travel there, let alone live there anymore. We (me and my X) were going to move to Tecate for a while, we looked but then decided it was too expensive to live in the part where we wanted to live. Where all the Americans lived. We don't like to go to eat Lobster anymore there or be caught on the roads. My friends in San Diego said the stories of horror are in the papers daily. You don't have any issues like that, that worry you. Keeping in mind I have driven alone there several times with kids. I still don't have good feelings about it now.

I think things have changed big time down there Dawn and Katie. Too bad. Don't know what it is going to take to clean it up.

A lot of the problems are at the borders and in the big cities. I'm 600 miles south of San Diego and in a small town. While there are problems with drugs and alchohol as there are most everywhere there is not enough of a population or enough money floating around to make for the gang-related problems found elsewhere.

For, it's very peaceful here. And I have a million-dollar view and no snow! I'm not into alchohol, drugs or sexx. I like children and do things to help out where I can I don't have a lot of money and I don't flaunt what I have. Having Tony working for me has made a big difference in my being accepted in the community as he has always liked me and always said so. It's also clear that I'm not wanting a sexual relationship with him - he's very good-looking and I think his wife was worried when, at first, he liked me so much. She knows now that's not a problem as does the wife of my friend Saul who alo resented that her husband and I are such good friends.

I know how bad the problems are in some places. We don't have any crowded slums here. People chip in if someone is injured or dies. The problems that we have tend to be isolated and everyone knows who to watch out for.

When I travel, I have certain spots where it's safe to stop and I don't drive at night if I can avoid it.

I do think sometimes about the uprisings in Africa, China and elsewhere where non-natives and suddenly turned-on. One scene that stays with me is from the movie "Empire of the Sun" when the young boy gives a casual order to a servant and she slaps in hard and tells him "no more orders" or words to the effect. AS much as I think I'm well-liked and accepted here I sometimes wonder.

For whatever reasons, this seems to be home. Hot, humid summers and all. I have chosen to replace alchohol, drugs, sex and other problems with my attempts to increase the number of food crops that are grown here. I've had lots of failures and a little success. Mostly, it gives my life a positive direction. As with many of the local people who have to work hard just to get by I keep busy and do my best to avoid problems with the trouble-makers.

Back to my "problem" - the backhoe man did a good job and I have a big pile of dirt where I wanted it. (I can still help myself to Tom's if I want to after he's gone for the sumer.) We also have a good spot where we can park our trailer which has been up a little hill and hard to move around.

Neighbor Dana came over yesterday for a visit and a tour of the garden. I've been doing some of my junk art which doesn't impress her but my schotia tree full of flowers and birds does. She is also envious of the amount of shade that I have and I said that that was a priority when I moved in. Tony and his wife and I often ust stand looking around and admiring all the shade none of which was here when I moved in.

You all know that I have some big mood swings, as does Tony. I don't display them publicly.

All in all, I feel safer here than I did in the States while taking much the same kinds of precautions. Here, my yard is fenced and I have four big dogs. I tend to foget, but that's a lot of what keep trouble-makers away from me.

On an enitrely different subject, I've been having really bad leg cramps at night. I'll google it and see what I can find out. I'm wondering if this is just another age thing or if I can do something about it.

I have one small apple on my apple tree. Dana was impressed by that.

Anyone who wants a peaceful Mexican vacation close to some of the world's great beache is welcome to come on down.

hugs, katie

Katie, sounds like you are happy and content, so do what makes you happy. As for the leg cramps, I think you will find one of two things, first, poor circulation, which can be cured by medication, or what I had, Lack of potassium and a banana a day will help that along with eating a good diet and taking some vitamins. Dr. Berger does not charge for house calls. LOL. It may be because you have started to exercise more and they will go away on their own when your body gets used to the additional stress. That sometimes happens to me.

Just put the Aimee 2 year old regular and standards up on the Market Place. I would like to move a couple of them, but if I do not, I will keep them and sell them at the farm market next year. No hurry, but they are in demand. I had an email from Alaska wanting some of them. I unfortunately can not ship to Alaska without additional inspections so I had to say Sorry, no can do.

I am busy with my volunteer Horse Park work. I put the horseshoes up on ebay and FB and DG and the orders have started to come in. Let us hope I can keep up with them.
So far I am. I am going to do some painting and some weeding, so this will be all for now. We have sunshine off and on today so I am going to take advantage of it. Be good until I get back. Hugs to all today. Jb

Katie: JB is right about the potassium. I eat at least a bananna a day and when I am outside and sweat a lot I take a potassium pill it stops the cramps dead in their tracks.

good looking plants JB. I will try to get a new thread up later today as i want to get outside at the mment.

Katie, sounds like you have found the best life for yourself. That is really good. As for the leg cramps, JB and Dave are right. One other thing, my sisters and I have all had them recently, and they found that Evista was causing theirs. I am taking Vitamin B along with my vitamin D and mine have also quit. Not sure what worked for me.

However, it definitely is the poor circulation I am sure. I even had an ultra sound to make sure I did not have blood clots and that was not it.

The Aimees look great JB. If I ordered one to take the place of maybe one I lose, you would not know it was me would you. LOL, just teasing. I am NOT going to lose one.
