The other morning there were eight Turkey Vultures circling overhead.
DAILY BIRD PICTURES, VOLUME 388
Great photos, everyone!
Burn, I love the beautiful dove and the chickadee. Chickadees are some of my favorite little birds. My kids think I'm nuts because I talk to them. I whistle, "Woooo-hoooo!" and they whistle back. :)
linthicum, the chickadee is sweet! And that osprey is amazing.
Nice variety of gorgeous photos Linth, loved seeing them all.
Kayly, lol your kids would think I a nut case too, I talk to them all the time when I fill the feeders. They're friendly little darlings. Thanks for your comment.
Good looking Magpie Adel, I drive by some cow pastures, in hope of seeing our not so colorful ones.
I miss the YR Warblers, so goood to see some on this thread, Lily
VA_Wild_Rose - pat your hubby on the back. That's a great shot! You can even see a bit of sap on its bill.
Burn, really nice ones especially in bad weather.
Linthicum!!! WOW! Those shots are gorgeous!
Adelbertcat, that magpie is beautiful. The colors are just fabulous.
Lily_love, nice one of the yellow-rumped!
OK, this has me puzzled. Not a great shot 'cause stick in the eye, but check out the tail. I don't think I've ever seen a red-winged blackbird with white tail feathers. What's up with that? Do juvies have white tail feathers? I'm puzzled.
Wonderful shots everyone!
Rose, love all those grackles!
Lily, just set a piece of driftwood on a table, dig out a hole in the top and put some chunky peanut butter in the hole. Your warbler will love it and it will make a great photo for you. You're getting cute pictures already.
Elphaba, love your owl and glad you've located a heron nest. I can't wait to check our rookery next month.
VA, tell your husband he did wonderful- great sapsucker shot!
Burn, cute dove, starling, grackle and chickadee shots. They can really brighten a rainy day.
Linth, great photos of all your birds. My Downy won't go to the peanut feeder like your Hairy, but at least she's here daily for the peanut butter. That osprey eating the fish-awesome!!
Elphaba, that white tail must be a bit of leucism. Great eye for noticing that! That's what makes bird watching fun.
Too much rain here today so here's a photo from last week. This Canada Goose was sure telling off the mate.
wow...look at all those teeth..ouch! lol
We have had a mystery with the finch feeder all winter. This feeder is located right outside of the fenced area. When I would go out to refill it I was shocked at all the seed on the ground. Also, I would fill it and it would seem to be emptying on at a normal rate fro the small number of Gold Finch I have during the winter...and then I would get up and the dang thing would be empty! I pretty much gave the raccoons the credit what with all the bad weather.
Boy was I wrong!! Yesterday morning when DH got up and let the dog out. This is like at 4:30 am....dark. Slowly he realizes our band of deer are out there and one has hold of the feeder shaking it to get seed to fall out!! Never would have thought that!!
fixed typos!

LOL, I caught one of our mama deer doing the same thing! I walked out to the fence and watched her-do you know she just kept shaking the feeder????
Wonderful pictures.
I had no idea geese had teeth like that!!
You have smart deer folks.
Guys, don't let "look" fool ya. Ducks and Geese have no real bony teeth I don't think. Those are like soft tendon ridges that run along the inside of the beak. They're really benign. lol Though, I would run of the Mama Geese come after me. Awww, it would be nice to have deers come to visit.
Love the avocet. Never seen one. I saw my first sandhill cranes in Wisconsin last June.

They are just ridges on the bill yes, but actually quite hard and not at all benign!
Resin
Agreed Resin, I meant to say "Though, if the Mama Goose comes after me...I would run." So you're correct, they are NOT benign after all. Thanks for the correction.
Great pix Adel. Thanks Nan for sharing the YBSS. I'm still looking for one.
Nice Adel...love seeing the Sandhills and the Snow Geese!
Congratulation grandpa!!! Errr I meant Red. How exciting, I'm so jealuous! My pair (BBs) appear to be teasing me, they haven't even attempted at their nest building.
Yahoooo! Spring is arriving there for you and your beautiful BBs Dave! The Cardinal is gorgeous too!
Lily, cute photo of your wp and finch at the feed station.
Nanny, your waxwings are pretty, especially that last one-the branch is fine! Love that sapsucker too-hope they do nest for you.
Adel, great shots of all the geese. Love that Avocet too!
Teddy, looks like your little junco is happy with the food.
Red, congrats on the egg!!
Dave, that pear tree is perfect for your birds-great photos!! It's so nice to see photos with the sunlight. All we're seeing is rain.
One of my crows hunting for food.
