Nice start GG! I didn't know that Mockers ate suet!

Looks like you have the same "mulch" that I have. (BOSS)

First Song Sparrow of the season! AND, same exact date as last year's!!

Thank you GG for the nice start of the new thread. I love your shots of the Northern Flickers. Mrs. Ed; "First song Sparrow of the season! AND, same exact date as last years's!!" Hah! seems like they have their built-in internal clocks, doesn't it? lol

Spring really has sprung down South, with all the busy nesting activity and courtship activities the birds are demonstrating. This morning I saw this male Cardinal sitting still. I thought to myself, isn't that odd? Ya aren't out there chasing others around the garden? ...

Lily, you're soooo lucky to have the nuthatches in your birdhouse! Congrats on the Butter Butt! Love the phoebe and blooms too!
They love the peanut butter log here, hope you'll try it too for your little one.

Elphaba, great shot of your hummer. Hope the female is close behind soon.

Burn, I do hope your bird will show up again. The crows sure can be loud at this time of year. Hope they're giving you a great mating show.

Teddy, cute chickadees.

Adel, congrats on the new dove. Hope you'll report it to ebird.org

Kayly, I love the female cardinals too. Your little one is beautiful with the berries.

Granny, thanks for the wonderful new start! Love all your birds!

This is one of my crows that sticks around our house pretty much all day long.

'Tis the time of rest' LOL. When I did a double- take then realized the lovebirds were sunbathing. :) The subtle beauty was sitting right below his highness. lol

Mrs. Ed, missed your little sparrow-spring must be coming soon! I sure hope so, all we've seen lately is rain.

Lily, missed your pretty cardinal too. It's nice to see someone is enjoying the sun.

My Golden-crowned and White-crowned sparrows are enjoying the peanut butter in this log.

Mrs Ed, Congrats on seeing the Song Sparrow (especially on the same day).

Lily, Cute Cardinal pair!

Kayly, Good shot of the pretty female Cardinal!

Duc, That is one very handsome Crow!

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

Thanks Resin.

Watertown, WI(Zone 5a)

So many great photos, everyone!

Duc, you really caught the intelligence of that crow in your image--they're such clever birds.

Lakeview, OH

Our Pileated Woodpecker is still in our area, and I am still dtermined to get a shot of him!Hubby saw him this morning in the neighbor's tree, but I had to go on a errand and did not have time to try to get him.

Mount Pleasant Mills, PA(Zone 5a)

Great pictures folks. All wonderful shots.

Duc, I love that Crow. Fantastic! Ever think of training it?

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

GG thanks for the new thread!! Love your birds especially the Flicker and Mocker!!

Lily and KayleRed...such pretty settings you both have caught for your Cardinals.

Mrs. Ed...No kidding...the exact same date!

Duc...Lovely shots and your Crow is so very cool!

Teddy...Best of luck on getting a shot of the Pileated.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day for working outside...sunny and warm and full of Grackles!!

My goodness, where on earth do all of those Grackles come from. They are everywhere! First there is one and then..........!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Duc, thanks for the tip on using the logs as feeder logs. I'm a collector of driftwoods, now I can put them in good use. *grin*. The Yellow-rumped Warbler are very energetic birds, I noticed a couple passing through here. They seem to love the oak catkins out there.

Hey wait for me...JK!

Nice start GG!!! Love your Flicker too...great shot!

Love everyones shots!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Love the flicker shots GG. I saw some today but it was dark and cloudy so my pics not anywhere near as cool as yours!

Mrs. Ed, cool song sparrow and weird about dates huh? A friend and I were talking about the Broad-winged Hawk Migration. I've seen groups fly over my house 4 times over 3 years. I looked up the dates and they were not on the exact same date like your sparrow but darn close!

Love everyones Cardinal shots. They are such beautiful birds. Glad you don't take them for granted.

Duc, love that crow. He looks smart enough to win at jeopardy!

Saw a couple of especially cool birds this morning. It was early, dark and cloudy though, so pics aren't that great. Sharing anyway! First, a Barred Owl. You have to kind of look for him. The forest floor was flooded. I was on the highest ground I could find and my feet were soaked, so couldn't even try to get closer. Not sure why it was flooded b/c hasn't rained that much but guess it rained over there.

I've seen other heron nests but I believe this is the first time I've seen Great Blues attempting to nest. I'm assuming they are not done b/c looks kinda spindly. They were way up high. I almost missed them. This is my second and last cool thing for the day!

Neat owl Elphaba. I love owls, but have never gotten a chance to photograph one.

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Nice start Granny Grunt! I love the flickers, but seldom see them at a distance close enough to get the shot!

Beautiful sparrow shot Mrs_Ed!

Lily... love the cardinal, but I especially love the green buds on the trees! Spring is here! Woo-hooo!!!

KaylyRed.... your female cardinal is very nice! Good feather details!

Duc... you have anice variety there, but I especially like that Titmouse! What a cutie! And I have yet to be able to comment on your Tree Swallows this year! Beautiful as always! What a gift to watch them everyday! Look forward to more of them!

dellrose... that's a big bunch of Grackles!

Elphaba... great catch of the Barred Owl! How lucky you are!

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

I have one cute little pic, courtesy of my husband! He was out on one of his PT walks while I was at work, and caught this gorgeous little female Yellow-bellied Sapsucker! He actually got several shots of her, but I liked this one of her "peeking" at him!

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

GG, thanks for the nice start, Love seeing you, Red-bellied, Cardinal, Mockingbird, these are all birds I haven't seen personally.

Mrs-Ed, I'm anxious to see the Song Sparrow, wanted to let you know, I got a sneaky Grackle today. So now I know, the Song sparrow won't be far behind. Did you get the Red-winged Blackbird yet? I can't remember if you mentioned it before. If they arrive on time, I should see them on the 20th.

Lily it's nice to see your birds coupling up. Babies soon!

Duc, wow shot of the Crow. The Titmice is so sweet. I do enjoy the Crows, I'm trying to entice them to the yard, for better photo shoots.

Kayly, Love the female Cardinal among the crabappples.

Dellrose, so many Grackles! But glad your getting some lovely weather.

Elphaba, you did good with the Owl pic, for the situation you were in.

WR, tell your DH he did a good job on the YB Sapsucker, Nice bird to photograph.

It was a rainy day here today, and the birds were lined up, for the feeders. Some of them were the Mourning Doves.

Hey burn. I don't get the red-winged black birds here in town. I'd actually love to see one at my feeders. And also would like the Tufted Titmice.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Wild Rose, thanks for sharing your YSS cutie. I was told we've those down here too but my untrained eyes couldn't tell them apart from other smaller woodpeckers. Burn nice collection you've there. In my opinion the Startling is beautiful bird in its own right. Mrs. Ed if you haven't seen your Red-winged Blackbirds, they're still here with me in large flock likes that of Roses' Grackles. Awww, I just saw a small flock of Cowbirds in the backyard. They were picking up seeds off the ground that were scattered from the feeder above. Funny thing was a Chipmunk came out and chased the birds off to the high branches.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Yellow-rumped Warbler? It was basking in the morning sun.

Just put another suet cake out, this one is specially made for woodpeckers, it has a lot of sunflower seeds and other nuts that they like. Heard the rb wp this morning he or she is really calling, I like their trilling call. My suet cakes last a long time,, I don't have a lot of woodpeckers eating on it, have not seen a nf since I changed feeders, but I am not going to worry about it, if I see em, I see em, if I don't, I don't. I can always enjoy the ones that have them and post their pics. Have a good weekend, safe birding.

Adel, what's great looking bird you've!

Linthicum Heights, MD(Zone 7a)

Nice photos, everyone .....

adel, that Yellow-billed Magpie sure is an attractive bird.

Nice Yellow-billed Sapsucker, VaWildRose. I don't see them very often but then I seldom spend time inside the woods.

The Northern Flicker is one of favorite birds. Nice shots, GG. You can't mistake their call.

Here's a couple of shots taken from my son's backyard. He tend to get a broader variety than I do. So, I maintain feeders at my residence, and his.

The first photo is that of a Hairy Woodpecker.
