Hi Kay,
Its not spirea, that is actually planted next to it. It is definatley a type of rose. Here is the 'big' picture. I will try to remember tomorrow to take a close pic of the flower, stem, and leaves.

Blackshear, GA

The plant is about 8-9 ft tall and spreads out over an area of about15 ft wide. It gets out of control very easily

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

someone sent me these things from Florida, and I have them in this water bowl until I get the outside tub pond ready.. the bowl is what I use to collect pink and purple plant seeds with.. they can't stay here forever.. what do you think? She said two water lillys and some kind of marginal thing, and a couple other things, guess we will have to wait and see?
Kay, I added some things to my list.. ;)
Homer, a greenHouse is what we need, Yes? I am glad I have my basement Gardens, I am still thinking of keeping at least one room dedicated to super shade tropicals..at least it would be cooler down here this summer..

OK - my old eyes didn't see two different plants - yes, I'd say you have a white l.b. rose. I have yellow - maybe we could trade cuttings?

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Deb. where did you add to your wish list?

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Hi Guys...been super busy, so trying to catch up.
Metro, I'm with Joeswife on the wild orchids ! Gorgeous.

Paula, your nematanthus is very cute ! Love the Yellow.

Cross Vine is going all out...

Good morning,Martha! WHY are we up so early - it's gotta be our age - oh, to be young again - I could possibly sleep until 7 a.m. - nah, the day is half gone by then!

Blackshear, GA

Good Morning Kay and Martha,
I think it has some to do with the time change. I wake up almost every morning about 5:00, but I don't get up until 6:00.

Kay, I think I will post it on the ID forum just to make sure, but I would be glad to root some or send you cuttings. It does get out of control, my husband hates it, but I think its beautiful WHEN it blooms. I didn't realize there was a white one until someone posted that the other day. Now that I think about it, it does have the growth habits of LB

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Kay - I'm up most mornings by 5:00...I'm in/out of the house feeding the horses etc, hop on the computer depending on how much time I have. I've got to be in New Smyrna (45 minute drive) this morning to teach also.
Hey, my Cigar Plant that you wanted is coming back so if you didn't get a plant I can send you a piece of it if you want.

Homer - were all those plants in your garage ? Don't know how you/Rachel keep all your tropicals going all winter.

Last week when I went to NSB, I stopped by the Farmers market and got these little guys
T. stricta - put this one in one of those tiny orchid baskets till I decide how I want to mount it.

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Rita - your plants always amaze me. I need to take pics of all you sent. Do you grow the Variegated Crinium in full sun? I need to decide where to plant it.
Paula - love the nematanthus flumensis

Debra - I'm like you, still need to get a have/want list posted.

T.bulbosa - it should bloom before long...

PLEASE - post your haves and wants lists on the sticky - we need to start trading some of our beauties for MORE beauties!!!

Huntersville, NC(Zone 7b)

RachelLF,

Those are my Musa "Orinoco" Banana plants that I overwintered. I hope the large one (pseudostem over 12') has bananas this year. Very observant of you!

Hopefully the weather here will cooperate this year; as I need to get them in the ground in a few weeks. One of the plants has a leaf out. No worries though, the corms are monstrous on these behemoths.

I anticipate the Calidoras and the Portoras to get Quite large this year.

Huntersville, NC(Zone 7b)

mjsponies,

Yes; they were either in the house or in the garage. I rotated them all winter and now they have been in the garage since we have been having this warm weather the past few weeks.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

GAgirl, isn;t that a Lady Banksia rose? They are blooming here right now, the yellow and some whites too.

Rita, I have bought plants from Noveltyg, that is where I got this Keeley's Gold Ti but it is not a strong grower, I am aways fighting to keep it going.

Thumbnail by ardesia
Blackshear, GA

OOO ardesia, that is beautiful!! But I have to say I don't like plants that I have to 'baby' to keep them alive, UNLESS I really like it. LOL

Yes, I think it may be a lady banks, that was what we were trying to figure out. It never occured to me until someone posted about a white Lady Banks. It has to be at least 20 years old, because I have been living here for 15 and it was huge when we moved here. I am going to take several pictures of it this morning and post on the ID forum to see if others agree. Then I am going to take cuttings after the blooms.LOL

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Kay, I swear I added like ten things to that sticky, but it must not have been sent.. *sigh* I will work on it again tonight. I am up early, just too busy turning on lights, making coffee and stuff. Love the displays this am, thank you.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Dave, Tropaflora has about 72 pages of broms with pictures.

Debra Rachel Prita and Holly and to you guys that love Alocasias.

These tubers are just showing about the top 5th. I would say they weigh around 8-10 lbs apiece. Just planted today. The big one was about 8'' in Diameter.

Those are hughe!!!

Debra, I like your aquatic plants. I think some are really cool to grow.

mjs, post us a picture of your T.bulbosa when it blooms and it sounds like you are staying busy with the horses. I've gotten in some good riding time here too in which these need it. They are all fat and sassy.

Homer, outstanding growing on your Musa orinoco and I hope you get some bananas this year and I would say your calidoras, portoras and several other of your Alocasia plants will get to be a good size for you before long. I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures from you and those are some good looking tubers from??

Those are Huge tubers! I love those kind of plants.
Rachel, that is a cool bloom!

Huntersville, NC(Zone 7b)

Classic Caladiums. They are the real deal! Talk to Bob and tell them Drew Leonard sent ya there.

Huntersville, NC(Zone 7b)

Rachel,

Is that an Alocasia or Xanthosoma bloom? Is it this year? Way to go. Great job; I was wondering if you had a greenhouse or are you in and out 'till you are planted out?

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Rachel - I surely will post a pic when it blooms. Yup-ponies keeping me busy. Welsh Pony farm that I'm doing some work for also, but I go down there once a week. They have a to die for little Stallion that thinks he's a BIG HORSE...LOL.
I'm going to try to get some pics of the native Tillisanda's also...if I actually get time to go out and just play with the camera. It's been nice toasty warm during the day with cool nights...perfect...no heat, no air conditioning, windows wide open 24/7. I'm diggin it !

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Homer that is impressive, I was just looking at my big Port Odora bulbs they are showing some signs of green tips. It will be another 6 weeks till I plant them outside.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

How deep do you normally plant portadoras? I just potted a big one and I left the "shoulders" above ground like you would do for an amaryllis. Should I pot it deeper?

Huntersville, NC(Zone 7b)

Prita,

What is the name of the Aroidin post Post #8434745 at the top of this page...I want one!

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Hi, Homer - she calls it A. Veitchii - it is pretty, isn't it?

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

ardesia, You know I don't really remember how deep I planted them last year. I guess I will have to look that back up.

Red Oak, TX

Hello!!

GAgirl1066, that was a beautiful parade of color, it seems as if your plants are ready to go outside, mine are too. Unfortunately we will be getting another spell of low Temps.
I am almost certain that your rose is a White lady Banks, I have had one gowing on an arbor for quite a long time now. It's just starting to bloom.

Joeswife, I like your violets in the first picture, I have a few clumps of the dark purple. Are yours the Missouri violets?
You have such a talent for displaying your Tillandsia. I like that last picture you showed of them.

mjsponies, love that crossvine! They always remind me of RJ, who has one running on cables from a tree in his back yard up to his house.
I have my variegated crinums mostly in the shade, I would love to see pictures of the cuttings that you rooted.

ardesia, I spent most of the morning browsing that Tropiflora site. I visited the nursery once and loved it, the guys working there were so friendly.
It seems as if you did exactly what I know to do when potting tubers, I have a Portadora that is doing well at almost 2 ft above the soil. The only question is, whether the leaves will be as large as in previous years.

This is one of my first purchases from Noveltyg. Philo. 69686

homer1958, those are nice looking tubers, I had to scrape rot away from a Borneo Giant when I went to plant it today. I washed it with peroxide and will wait until it dries to plant. I was so proud of myself for getting it through the winter. (bummer)
That is a King Anthurium (Anthurium Veitchii)

Lili_love, How are your tropicals doing?

Dwarf variegated Alocasia Odora

Red Oak, TX

RachelLF, I thought that I would have a passion vine bloom to show you today, but it fell off. Perhaps I tried to open it once too often to see what color it was.
I either don't have a Anthurim Chiapensis, or just don't remember the names of the plants I have. It might come to me soon.
I have this noid Anthurium bloom for you though.

Thumbnail by prita
Red Oak, TX

HollyAnnS, are you planning to keep your Alocasias in pots or planted out in the garden?
I have a Queen Emma Crinum that would look very good planted out with them. I could send to you.

Kay Jones, do you have a Queen Emma?.

Thumbnail by prita
Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Prita, thanks for asking. My tropicals are still indoor. I did have Queen Emma crinums blooms for me last year. Those are out of these world! I'm quietly watching all the beauties everyone has posted here. :)

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Rita, thanks for asking - NO, I don't have many of the cool plants - mine are really pretty common tropicals. My dear Friend, Deb, has sent me some wonderful plants and I treat them just as good as I would if they were my children - I LOVE them!

Thanks Debra.

Rita, that is one unique bloom from the Anthurium and I will send you another chiapensis if the little one I sent you last Spring did not do well for you. Your Philodendron 69686 is outstanding to view.

Mjs, I'm glad to read the horsey business has picked back up for you again and lol on the thinking of that lil Welsh stallion. He sounds like he is a sweetheart though and if you get any photos of him, please send them to me.

Homer, thank you. That is my first inflo. from my macrorrhizos x longiloba this year and being that I do not have a greenhouse, I do that "labor of love" of dragging them in and out every year. Dreaming of the day of being able to move to a very tropical climate so I do not have to do that anymore.

Thumbnail by
(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Rachel, you and I share the same dream, and chores of moving our beloved plants in and out..

Rita, that Philodendron is gorgeous. I will have to visit Noveltyg.

Love the bloom on the anthurium, it is way cool. I can't wait till mine get back to normal.
All my common tropical hibiscus are in bloom at once it seems..now when the cajuns wake up to bloom again I will be happy.
