Rita: Oooh, beautiful Brunsfelsia! and thanks for the new thread.

Dave: Love the Oxalis ... the only one I have is the purple leaf.

Debra: If your Orchid Cactus is Epiphyllum oxypetalum: http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&sugexp=gsisc&xhr=t&q=epiphyllum+oxypetalum&cp=14&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&sa=X&ei=rZmCTeWFJ8m10QHx_tzcCA&sqi=2&ved=0CCkQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=726it's a night bloomer, the flowers are really pretty ... and apparently extremely fragrant. Although I barely detect the fragrance on mine my husband says the flowers smell heavenly. My plant usually blooms in June and again in August. This photo is from last August:

Well, thanks all for the advice, I need to get the ricrac plant out of there somehow, at least a few cuttings, I want to send some to Kay.. Can those two things grow together like that?

Rita what is the brug in your last post on previous thread? Gosh,
it is a happy looking brug.. Love the beautiful Brunsfelsia, too.
Dave, I only have the red too, somewhere the green is stuck in a pot or two, have no clue where yet. stuff is peeking up all over the place here.

Hello All!!
Dh fixed whatever was wrong with my computer, not as fast but good enough for me!!

Homer1958, thanks, that is a very healthy leaf on your Philo. that must be some sweet compost, you have there!

Joeswife, good tip on repotting the lotus, I am also glad to hear that your Anthuriun is doing well! That is Charles Grimaldi on the other thread, it is the first and last Brug to bloom in the season.

RachelLF, the A. Veitchii in the picture was a new purchase last year. This is my old plant that got hit badly two winters ago, you can tell by the old yellow leaf which was the only one left. It now has quite a few healthy leaves, and deseves to get its picture shown for being a trooper!

Metrosiders, I love everything about banana plants, I wish that I had a longer growing season to get mine to look half as nice as your's.
I took a few of mine out of the GH today, getting them ready to go in the ground.

GAgirl1066, Good to see your Clivia blooming already, such vibriant color! I ran out to check on mine but only one plant is showing buds so far.

ardesia, if you should enter that picture in the photo contest, I am sure it would win first prize!! The pot, the plant and the surroundings are perfect.

Perennialgirl, I am such a Goober, I did not pay any attention to where you lived before making my offer. I will talk to the PO to see if it is do-able. I have mailed bulbs to Belize without any problems but live plants might be a problem.

dzy, is there any color showing on your peach plumeria? I love the shot of your Clivia and the rock border outside.

mjsponies, crossvine blooming is a sure sign that spring is here. I hope that you got your golf cart fixed, 4 acres is a lot to push a wheelbarrow across. I decided to get a cart for my riding lawnmower. One acre seems to get bigger, the older I get lol
The weather will be good, for a while and the cannas are coming to life, I was wondering if you would like a start of Australia as well.

I never get tired of the "African Daisies", they bloom their hearts out spring, summer and fall down here in Florida. It seems like every year I have a new "favorite" color ... this year it's the yellow.

This is a Red Star Cordyline that I still haven't planted it in the ground. It's in a container that's been sitting on the side of the house for two years now and it came through the winter freezes with flying colors. I'm determined to get it in the ground this year!

Last one for me tonight. Spring is finally here ... and the Azalea's are in bloom:

G'night everyone!

Lynn, Are the African Daisies a perennial in your area? I grow them as an annual and you are so right about blooming all season long. They are one of the last flowers in my yard in the fall, blooming even after the hardy Mums are finished.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Really nice show, I loved them all. Good News, I pulled rangoon creeper out of the winter tub, and it has new roots, and a bulbous end to one of the main roots. That is good, right? Anyway, it is in one of my shower caddys now, under the direct light.
KayJones, I got the ricrac cactus cuttings off the monster thing on the wall for you..
MJ's I planted all the seeds I got from you a while back..
I have been getting things ready for shipping, and repotting and seeding, I am so ready for spring. Poor Duke, he got tired of following me around from room to room all night..
I sure hope my cg gets that big this year, Rita, it would be a nice tree now If I didn whack it for cuttings every year. I think I will stop doing that.. maybe it would bloom now too.. Maya is budded..

The flowers on one of my clivias have opened and no, this is not a new variegated variety, the leaves are just dotted with pine pollen. Everything in the garden is coated with the sticky yellow stuff.

Lynn,

I think you have yourself a Xanthosoma Sagittifolium there. See how the petiole(stem) attaches to the anterior lobes(opposite the point of the leaf) at the end of the sinus(open area between anterior lobes at the middle of the leaf(midrib).

Colocasias' petioles attach (almost all the time) in the middle of the leaf.

HollyAnn: The Osteospermum ("African Daisies") are sometimes Perennial's for me. The yellow and lavender ones I just planted in January this year. I've had white, orange, lavender and a pinky/purple variety over the years and the pinky/purple colored ones (can't remember the name) have been the hardiest ... the only ones that re-sprouted for a few years. I wonder if I will see them again this year though since the past two winters have been so brutal. I love the color so hopefully they will return once again. This is a photo from last year ...

Homer: Thanks for the ID. I don't remember where it came from, I just thought it was a regular ole' Florida Elephant Ear. It used to get pretty big but then began getting mowed down so I moved it one year to a spot by the fence ... then the weed wacker kept getting it. Maybe I will move it someplace out of danger of the mower and weed wacker so it can grow up! ^_^

Hi Everybody, another beautiful spring-like day today!

plantladylin, thanks for the stroll through your yard, with you showing me your pretties. The Streptocarpus saxorum is new to me, I will have to look it up. (I mean have to have one for my garden) lol
What is that variegated plant in the Ficus elastica picture?

These are blooming all over Texas. This one will not die, it takes over the pine trees and bends them over, from the weight. It was cut down to the roots last spring.

Wisteria vine.

Joeswife, Its good to see Duke, I miss my little Dolly dog, she was always there to keep me company. I will not get another, it's too hard on the heart to lose one.
I thought of you today, when untangeling the Dutchmans pipe vine from around the other plants. Last spring I was lazy and cut it back to the roots, and had just a few blooms in the summer. It was very tiresome but my GKs love those blooms!
Brug Maya is going to make you happy real soon, she is a keeper!!

Butterfly weed.

ardesia, that is a nice full pot of Clivia, they seem to be blooming everywhere but in my garden. If you had not mentioned the pollen on the leaves, I would not have noticed. I hope that you are not allergic to pine pollen. I love pine trees.

This is a new Alocasia Lutea, I have to buy a new plant every spring, not having any luck overwintering them.

Rita: That Wisteris is so beautiful! I've always loved that plant, brings back memories of a gigantic one we had in our backyard when I was a child. I saw one down the street a few days ago that was taking over a tree, yours is probably the same type - Wisteria sinensis (commonly called "Chinese Wisteria"): http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/55392/ ... it's very invasive in the south. I have a Wisteria fructescens (commonly called "American Wisteria ") that isn't as rampant and not invasive. It hasn't done much since I planted it about 7 years ago, it sprouts and blooms later than the Chinese variety ... mine just now has a couple of little green sprouts showing.

Pretty B'fly weed!! I've just noticed Butterflies and Bees around the yard this week ... a definite sign of spring!

I've never heard of Chocolate Vine ... gonna have to research that one as it sounds very interesting ... is there any chocolatey scent to the blooms?

Nice Philodendron!

Rita ... sorry, I forgot you asked about the variegated plant in an earlier photo. It's some sort of ornamental grass that I bought at Home Depot a couple of years ago to put in a mixed container planting. I can't remember the name ... might be this stuff but I'm not sure: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/165917/
