Everyone knows how they look anyway. Share my thrill at seeing them.

Yay Ge!!!
I can't believe how many blooms are popping up everywhere! (except Maine)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Maine will look so good when it's blooming.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I do have house plants that give me a smile...this is Purple Shamrock 'Mijke' in bloom, Black & Blues Saliva foliage and a begonia bud.

your b & b looks better than mine... I hacked it back and hope it springs back... my pineapple sage is done for

Thomaston, CT

Love the purple shamrock!

Stamford, CT(Zone 6b)

onewish, I'm not sure that iris is too deep; they don't have much of a stem. They bloom seems to be about 1 inch from the ground. Mine are seldom more than 4 inches high.

Yours is very pretty. Expect the leaves to grow quite a bit higher than the bloom.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thanks!

Thomaston, CT

My bleeding heart is appearing......took a walkaround today, & sorry I did....one of my huge rhodos is half dead, a main stem to my crape myrtle broke off, & my only David Austen rose, Strawberry Hill, was totally crushed by snow falling off the garage roof ....I'm really bummed :(...

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i have jm's blooming in containers in the garage

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You mean leafing out?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Sorry to hear that Robin, im still afraid to do a walk around. By this weekend I should be able to check out most of the yard, it will be another week before I can get to the back forty.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

"leafing out" might be the technical term - i prefer to believe jm's bloom in the spring

Thomaston, CT

Thanks, guys.....I'm feeling better today, more optimistic anyway!

Stamford, CT(Zone 6b)

Onewish, it's been nasty out, so I hadn't looked at the gardens. Today I spied some of those reticulated irises and noticed that the stems are taller. Let's see, I'm about 5'2" — do you think I could add to my height as easily?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

sure... heels!!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

OMG thats a riot.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

They are easy to plant.Mine didnt go into deep holes and made it to bloom.
I am waiting for K.Hodgkins to really open.Maybe today its going to nearly 50*

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

RD Natasha doesn't stay around after a year. I would look for other light colored ones next fall.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Good thing you mentioned that Iris, I was looking at planting some white ones too

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Do the reticulatas multiply like crocus?

Stamford, CT(Zone 6b)

Japanese maples bloom before the leaves come out. The blooms are strange things with stems.
