Going to spend a few with my Sweetie !!!!!! BBL
Sweet Interruptions 212
Jaye - special for my DH ...... hmmmmmmmm
He tore the side mirror off my car on Wed am. Seems he feels it's ok to wrap his extension cord around my mirror cuz it's too long - on the passenger side, so Ididn't see it when I got into the car to go to work. 15 ft away and suddenly I saw something whiz by my window. I backed up, and he said "Why didn't you look before driving away?" I said "Why should I have to????" He's arranging the fix of it!! I'm not going to do a thing to fix it when it's HIS fault lol
He took me out for dinner that night ^_^ I've gotten "past" it, so it's not an upset anymore.
We're buying 2 cakes - Black Forest and Carrot Cake (sheet size) to take to church on Sunday so everyone can celebrate his b-day with us.
Friday (my b-day) we're going to have a party with a group of people to celebrate a whole bunch of March birthdays (about 6 of us, including my DH).
I suppose we'll have to take a cake to the church on the 13th to celebrate MY birthday LOL
My unexpected Blessing today came from my darling grand daughter
...she is so darn adorable !!! Made my day big time today :-) she is to call us Pepe and Mor Mor and she has been saying Pepe for awhile now...and she looks at me and says Mom...and very quickly shakes her head "no" knowing that that is not right... (so cute)...then just says mmmmmm..........wellllll this morning she came up to me and grabbed my leg...and I looked down and said what you want? and she said...MMMm Mor UP up up up mor up!!!! well let me tell ya my heart bout melted away...I scooped her up and gave her big hugs and kisses...and I tapped on my chest and said Mor mor, and on hers and said Malena...back and forth...and then she said her version of Malena, and said mmm Mor !!! again . first time she said up too !!
YUP big smile on my face all day :-)
I wish Y'all such simple joys...sweet Dreams and a Great tomorrow !!!
That's what it's all about!!!!! Those moments that take your breath away!!!! How wonderful for you Thunder..
Good morning!!
It's gonna be a good one, as Malena's here!!|
Aww Thunder, that's one good unforgettable moment!! You'll now be hearing a pair of precious lips calling Mor Mor for the rest of your days!!!
Sue, I didn't know that about natural honey? Wow. I've always use Tea Tree Oil as it's a natural antiseptic.
Good to know honey will work.
You've been wondering how to cope with Tim being gone again.. and oooops... so happen Lord provides a way... through a job.
Susan, I'm sorry sistah!! I'm laughing as I got a visual of your surprise!! At least you didn't get a whiplash following that cord whizzing by!!
How lucky, multi b'day celebrations!
You both enjoy yourselves and eat my share of the cakes please.
Needing good wishes for my machine here.
Picking up my sewing machine today. It's the fuse again, (third time, first with the first new machine, and this replacement, twice) and I'm charged $90. Google is a wonderful tool when you need to find answers.
Found out last night that I'm not the only Viking Emerald 203 user that's been having problems. There were 4 posts that said they had to keep changing the fuse and also VIking had discontinued this model as too many were returned for that electrical issue.
Arming ourselves with this new knowledge, we'll be asking the dealer to bear all future repair costs, or maybe reduce this one.
Me and Kel are two passive folks, never confrontational, but a thousand bucks is too much money for a machine that keeps breaking down!!
Well.. better get myself in gear.. hoping for a great day too, for y'all!!
thunder that is a precious moment ! awww she is adorable.
Jaye sending T&P for your sewer machine.
oh did some one mention cake !! oh i love cake !!! but my butt and hips don't agree. LOL
synda great pics , love that flower. oohhh aaaahhhh .
well we woke up to smoke this morning ! we have a leak in the roof and it was dripping down on the area that has all the plug in on a breaker thingy ? yeah scary.
so with my cat like reflexes i quickly managed to manage the moment . LOL
first i hear loud popping ? and i thought HUmmm screen door banging in the wind . ? nope ack.
we are all ok. just a bit stinky in the house with the smell of burning plastic. blach
we are getting downpoured with rain !!! 3 " so far and its still going strong.
got kids new crayons and coloring stuff, some beading , and other arts stuff.
hugss to you all
sue
Thunder that is such a precious moment, and one you remember for a long time!
Jaye, glad you got your machine fixed, but that much for a fuse! OUCH!
Sue, sure glad to hear it was not much worse! WOW! Make sure you get that leak fixed too!
Oh Sue, hope you find a solution to protect that breaker.
At least you're home to catch it in time. Can you call on anyone to help with the leak?
The repair person is in Charlotte, LK. That's about 3 hr. drive. Postage costs terribly!!!!
I'm hoping to get satisfactory answers. The dealer that I bought it from happens to own my favorite quilting store too, so she knows I'm a valued customer. I rather spend that much on materials than on future repairs!
Yikes, Sue - smoke......... and a leak! Well, so glad you caught it in time!
Oh Sue that would be sooooooooooo scary !!!!!! Hope it is fixed very soon and not too costly !
Awe Synda, sure hope they both feel better soon!
Well, I went to the quilt show today, as much as it was. Very small building, and maybe all of 30 quilts on display. Kind of dissapointing, but I had a good time anyway! I bought a few pieces of fabric, and a few old quilting books for $2.00 a piece. Couldn't pass that up.
But here are the quilts I saw. This one was made in 1900's, I think the tag said, and was all done by hand with 1/2 inch finished squares. I would go blind if I did that!
Your mum wouldn't want to know you're sad on her birthday, Synda.
You could always plan a celebration surprise on a later day, for her.
LK, main thing is you had fun and did get to see other quilts. Don't they inspire you to do something with your stash? Those postage size blocks can make even superman lose his vision!! Lol!!
Such pretty quilts, my favorite is the Garden Gate one. All tediously appliqued I see.
Surprisingly, the Sunbonnet Sue was missing this year at the beach's quilt show.
Try to plan the big one in Houston. You and Todd can make a nice weekend there.
Just came back from the beach, laden with groceries beside the sewing machine.
We were gone for more than 3 hours and MIL never called once. Kel again 'forgot' to tell her of our plans two Saturdays in a row!!
If she had known, she would have been bugging Kel to return asap and giving excuses like his dad need him. Sigh...
Anyway, when we stepped into the quilt store, the owner was busy with customers buying the high end Vikings. You know the ones with computerized embroidery?
We were discreet enough to talk to her in her private office and told her what we found out.
Guess what.... she told us that she will write the repair off!!
She said that she would talk to Viking head office and see what they can do for me. She didn't even know that the 203 has been discontinued and there were similar complains online of electrical problems.
Whew.. that was easy. I know my sisters were sending positive vibes, because you all know I hate confrontation!!!
No need for that... thank God.
I'm off sewing. Hoping to use that serpentine stitch for a special block!!
If not.. straight stitches!!
I wonder why Sue? (BIG GRIN)
The quilter should call it Funky Chicken!! Remember the dance?
Synda, hope your Mother is better she is lovely..blessings.
Hello everyone , thinking of you all. Everyone be well, safe, happiness.
Marion glad your mother is eating good, sorry about her toe. Hope it heals up..
Well I had a huge post going and my computer decided to do a restart to finish with an upgrade. Now, let's see if I remember all of what I said...
((((((((((Marion)))))))))))) I am so glad she's eating! That toe is a concern to me too, that doesn't sound good.
Yikes Sue! That's scary!!
Judy I bet Julia does look good in that apron! YAY another cook in the house!
Peg Hallelujah!
Jaye I am so glad he doesn't have to go to Jury Duty!!! WHEW!!
Susan why didn't he move the hose when he saw it was wrapped over the mirror?
Thunder she's adorable!
Those quilts remind me of the quilts my grandmother used to make, I miss getting those! I love quilts, they are so warm!
Synda she's a nice looking lady! From what I remember of seeing pics of you, you look a lot like her.
Jaye that is wonderful!!! Also wonderful Kel quit telling her of your plans, funny how that works isn't it?
Well yesterday I took out a bunch of yellow canna, anyone want one, or 5, or 20?????
I planted something in their place but I don't remember what it is. I thought I had killed it as I dug it out of another DG friend's garden in the beginning of Feb and it sat in my garage in a 5 gallon bucket until yesterday, but it had new growth on it, so in the ground it went!
I also dug holes for my gladiola bulbs but discovered that they tend to shrivel up and die when they've been in the refrigerator for 2 years! I'm going to go get more today I think. Wonder if Fred's has any.
We went to our favorite Chinese restaurant in Hot Springs last night and it will probably be the last time we go there. The food used to be out of this world, but last night it wasn't great. Dave always gets that hot oil, the waiter brought us a huge clump of the seeds with hardly any oil in it, I usually won't touch it but Dave was chowing down with dipping wontons in it, so I decided to take a bite and I told Dave, "This has no heat and it doesn't taste right." So I dipped my finger in it and it tasted like cardboard and absolutely no heat. He had already ate quite a bit of it before I realized it was bad, so what do you do? We ordered a Poo Poo Platter that was awesome, but the Orange Chicken looked like, and tasted like, a bunch of chicken skin that was cut up into medium sized pieces and fried until they were crunchy, with the orange sauce on top of it, and again, it had absolutely no heat. Dave ended up getting sick after we got home but I was fine and we shared everything, we figure that hot oil made him sick since he ate so much and I just had a small bite and a lick. We told the waiter his hot oil stuff was no good, he just smiled and took it away. That raises a flag with me and I don't think we'll go back.
good morning everyone
oh crissy so sorry to hear of your chinese food mess. No fun. poor Dave . hope he is better today .
LOL to funny on the shrivel up bulbs. yes i think they do that . LOL
i did the same thing once .... or twice.... ok actually 3 times ! ok ok i said it . whew confesssions are soooo energy taking.
savannah is learning chinese on my ipad app i downloaded for her. LOL she really loves it.
welp time to go play in the GH
bbl
Leaving for church in a few. Bringing all your petitions as well.
Got to jot this down before I leave though.
Twyla, blessings to you too my friend. God's been good to you for keeping your spirits up. You're such an inspiration.
To Savannah : Ne How Mah?
How wonderful that she's picking up Mandarin, Sue. Your DH can tell you how beneficial it is to be able to speak that. There will be more international windows of opportunity for Savannah, and who knows, she might work for the UN in the future.
Crissy... one thing about that hot oil.. I prefer more chillies.. less oil.
BUT, I add half a pack of sugar, and about 2 tbsp. of soy sauce to 2 tbsp of that oil plus seeds. That will make it taste much better and you do get the heat as well!
Cannas are truly hardy!! When you think you had pulled them out.. up comes new growth.
Oh oh.. Kel says let's go!
Jaye the last 5 times we've went there Dave said the hot oil was very hot and had excellent flavor. I guess the best way to say it is It tasted like stale oatmeal, but that had to be what made Dave sick, he ate way more of it than I did and we split everything else 50/50. I don't know, maybe we'll have you come over so you can teach Dave how to make it, then we can just take our own LOL
I left two stalks in the ground, I had probably 30 coming up. They spread so fast!
Crissy, I don't make my own sauce!! Just when we're at the Chinese restaurants, we add improvise to their hot oil.
Start hunting for a Chinese store in your area and look for a bottle of Sambal Oelek, if Dave goes for the hot stuff. It's all grind fresh chillies, seasoned. Not those dry chilli stuff. I use the Sambal Oelek for cooking besides condiment.
Savannah: Wa how. Hsieh Hsieh Ne.
Sue, it's that way in most foreign countries where English will be the language of communication.
In Singapore, we are all taught the Queen's English in schools, and we have to take another language, be it Indonesian, Mandarin or Indian.
English is also the favored language in most homes.
All these Chinese stuff.. make us grabbed something Chinese after church!!! Bellies full.. may take a nap.. then off for 2nd service.
Can't do much outside as it's raining. God provides a way for us to rest Sunday!!!
Brought some good spring rolls for anyone's hungry!
Yeah, most countries are required to take English as a second language, if not a first.
Thanks Jaye! I think since we're almost out of the Korean hot sauce I'll pick up another bottle of that plus the stuff you said is good.
Played out in the garden, watched the NASCAR race, now it's just about dinner time! Don't have a clue what Dave's doing with the chicken and potatoes. Green beans are sitting out too.
He didn't have the hose on my mirror - it was his extension cord. I had MY extension cord hung on the hose reel, so it Was Not on my car. He, however, thought my mirror was a good place to hang the balance of his too-long-cord....
Well, he got the mirror fixed yesterday, so it's back to "good-as-new".
His b-day is today, and he had a great one - lots of carrot and black-forest cake LOL
Happy Birthday Bob! Glad to hear you had a great Birthday!
Morning everyone!
Coffee is ready!
Good morning sistahs!
Thanks for the coffee LK. Got some raspberry flavored sugar free syrup in it, and am enjoying sipping it.
Missed the evening service, but had quite an 'unexpected' evening.
Kel woke me up telling me he's leaving the house as he heard too many sirens stopping at a house around the bend.
He wanted to see what's going on.
Getting there, he saw police cars shining their headlights into open fields and the ambulances and firetrucks were there too. He approached a large (around 30) group of men trying to find out what's going on. (Said he wasn't nosy, just wanted to help if he could).
The resident's wife was reported missing. She has alzheimer.
While they were figuring how to divide into groups and do extensive searching withing a broader perimeter, thinking she's on foot.... one off duty firefighter responding to the call, walked into the group.. surprised at the emergency.. told them that he had just bumped into the lady at a neighbouring town's Mickey D's!
Not too long later, she drove up!!!! What a relief!! Her DH had not checked the garage, and moreover, she had not drove for months!!!
Ahhhh... prayers answered. For sure the search would have continued till the early morning hours.
It's in the high 50s and it's time for a slight spring cleaning!!!
Have to get vents cleaned, fan blades wiped down....you know the drill.
Lolol!! I had stuck to a rigid schedule of 15 or more minutes to 'organize' the house, and somehow we seem to be spending more on dis-organizing it!!!!
Hmm.. maybe I'd just do what I love the most. Sewing!!
But before I can do all this, got to make that visit to the doctor. Hate it!
Have a terrific Monday sistahs. AND Happy Belated Birthday Bob!
So glad to hear they found that lady!
Hope your Dr visit is just a follow up, and nothing too bad I hope!
Didn't go to the doctor, LK. Changed my mind since Kel can pick up the doctor's script without checking on my feet. But had to reschedule appt as he won't do it again next time!!
