My oil ETF is up over 36% in the short time I have it. Yay for high oil!! Hee hee. ^_^
Money Matters - Part 5
sell - as soon as this crisis is over it will drop.
Not yet. The only way oil will go down and stay down is if we double-dip.
sell this week - after the latest crisis is over buy it back and wait for the next one or for the market to climb. basically catch the bubble now.
I'm always on the lookout for that. But I think it's still too soon. This will still spread to other countries. The king of Saudi Arabia is very nervous. Is giving out 37 billion to the people.
you may be right - good luck!
Schickenlady - ETF stands for Exchange Traded Fund. Think of it as a mini-mutual fund that holds stocks in companies that are in a specific field. There are all kinds of ETFs these days and it's a great way to invest in a particular area (like oil, phones, pharmaceuticals, etc.) when you don't want to risk putting all your money into just one company.
Which ETF do you have, Victor? I have XLE right now. I've done pretty well with it. I've bought at various times dating back to 2008 (the last time oil was over $100/barrel) and I'm at about +8% overall.
DIG.
Now be honest, did you choose it for it's soundness as investment or because its ticker symbol is "DIG"?
Hee hee!
I figured out what I took in $ with my sewing. It's about double what I did last year. Yay!
So Victor... you make $$ on one hand with your fuel fund... and pay it out the other hand at the pumps?
Gas here today is $3.25, down the road 20 miles it's $3.19 at the truck stop.
Yes, it's my way of being screwed less. I don't drive much so I am way ahead.
$3.51 here today.
Yesterday it jumped from $2.98 to $3.05, DH said he should have gotten it the day before. :)
Just received a $7200 utility bill!! Geniuses.
I'm looking for the best CD rates...I see a lot of online offers but they scare me, wonder how safe they really are. Does anyone have any experience with these guys? https://www.ally.com/bank/high-yield-cd/index.html?CP=57411432;0
Any recommendations for others you may have experience with? Probaly looking for 1-3 years.
Stick with reliable sources.
I know in the end that's what we will do but dang the rates are sooo low!
Yes they are. Don't lock up too much $.
$7200????????? what the heck???
They screwed up the electric reading.
Did you have a heart atttack when you opened it?
I laughed. I get it by email. I have already emailed them about it.
I wouldn't of laughed, grabbed my chest maybe...but not laugh!
Gas was $3.18 yesterday when I filled up but it was worth it, I met Pirl & Mainiac for lunch! ^_^
Awesome lunch - DGers for appetizer, entree and dessert!!!
Already got an apology from them. They will send the corrected bill. If they gave me any problem, I would have gone to the press. Those stories always embarrass them.
I can guess!
I always say the same. The oil in their tank was bought at the lower price.
It always seems to happen that way. Prices go up and no new delveries have happened.
One of the headlines here today:
"Maine Heating Oil Prices Jump 15 Cents, Gallon Averaging $3.52"
There's a report that 'financial terrorism' may have contributed to, or worsened, the 2008 meltdown. Somehow, vulnerabilities in the system were exploited. Crazy stuff.
Paid $3.56 today. Dang!!
Who has done their taxes? Owe or refund?? Refund already spent? ^_^
I'm getting the info together for the acct.
