The eggs are laid one each day for four days.
But they all hatch within one hour, go figure.
The next day they are already gone and I never see any shells either.
They stay within the 3 acre front Paddock for the next 3 weeks.
They grow very quickly.
Birds from Queensland.
Margaret.
These Birds are 12th generation residents here.
They know I will never ever harm them.
I can park my Ride-On Mower 6 feet away [with engine running]
And they will not move off the nest.
That's wonderful. I guess they know you're not going to trample them, yet keep the horses at bay because they may inadvertently tread on the nest/eggs/chicks. Brilliant shots.
Wow very neat! Nice pics Ginger!
Oh my gosh! This is all fascinating!
Crested Pigeon. Any shots of the entire bird, Ginger?
Wow they are really cool looking!
Absolutely stunning! Wow!
They're the coolest looking birds, Ginger.
love the finch Ginger, I see them in pet store here.
Your Dove is very different from ours, I like the crest and the color in the wings.
Those are beautiful Finch!
Wonderful, ginger. Are they Double-barred Finches? We don't have them in WA, either.
ginger, I remember a photo you posted a few years back of a tree bulging with Rainbow Lorikeets. I'm sure people following this thread would love to see it.
Hi Margaret,
Yes they are Double-barred Finches. (Taeniopygia bichenovii)

You sure do know your Birds.
I will look for that other Picture you mentioned.
By the time I add the Lorikeets here I will probably have found it.
It was on this forum when it first started.
And it was my own Thread. :o)
Ginger, I don't know birds all that well, but I have a good bird ID book, which helps a lot.
I love the Fairy Wrens!
