I really wonder what purpose the wattles serve ?
Some of them have scars on them and are bleeding ?
Resin to the rescue please !
Birds from Queensland.
Hi Ginger - don't know, but I'd guess, from fighting between birds (territorial disputes, etc.). Possibly also from feeding in thorny plants, but I'd think that's unlikely.

Brilliant shots, Ginger. I love the second to last one in particular.
Really crisp shots Ginger. And great close up.
Thanks once again for your kind words Margaret and Burn.
This is the last Picture from this group of Wattle Birds.
I have got a mother in a nest with one young. [cute]
But not sure exactly where they are.
All my pictures are on 2 external terabyte hard drives.
There are 80,000 Pictures on each ext. drive.
Beautiful eyes!!
I knew I had been accepted into this male Satin Bowerbirds territory when he waved hello! to me.
I was waiting for a ‘high five’ next time I saw him but his friendly mood soon passed. :o(
Probably saw you didn't have any bits of bright blue plastic for him ;-)

The females are very pretty!
I agree with Pelle on the eyes, so nice with his blue coat.
Cute Resin .:))
Wow the female has gorgeous eyes too. I also like the males beak.
Wow pretty female.
I have been around for a long, long time Resin.
But you know I have never thought of that ploy.
I will definitely try it on my next visit to his Bower.
This Picture was taken from the back of his Bower.
He will enter his Bower 100% of the time from this end.
But the female will land on the other side and check out all his trinkets then enter the Bower from that side.
There is no room inside the Bower for any hanky panky.
I hope this sound track works for Yall: http://web2.uwindsor.ca/courses/biology/dmennill/Australia/SABB.mp3
It came from this site: http://web2.uwindsor.ca/courses/biology/dmennill/Australia/SABB.html
Brilliant photos, Ginger. They're the best shots I've ever seen of the female.
Wonderful shots Ginger! I love their sounds!
Amazing sounds!
Good luck with the blue ;-)
Resin
